My parents neighbor has the exact same thing.  It\'s because they take real good care of their grass so the root system is all nicely developed so that there isn\'t much space for the water to escape.  The only difference with theirs though is that the water is from a busted pipe they still haven\'t fixed.

intresting..
my theory was this The yard was most likely sodded and water just builds up underneath the initial layer of sod. The sod was probably sand based and the yard is probaby crappy ass clay/muck. That combination yields the roots from the sod not growing into the native soil very well so you can get water pillows.

Still interesting nonetheless

actally i didnt watch that simpsons yesterday..but i love them!!!! ive seen all episode apart from bout 2..lol, man that show rocks
