SOUL CALIBUR II MAKES US OFFICIALLY SCARED
Some games are born great. Some have greatness thrust upon them. And some are so mind-bendingly ahead of their time, all you can do is look on in awe
Mother. Of. God. Proof positive that Namco\'s Soul Calibur II team is composed of actual deities emerged today, as the Japanese publisher released some heart-stopping grabs from the upcoming fight sequel. Honest to goodness, there are members of our office looking at their computer screens with tears in their eyes.
Cast you eyes over the astonishing detail of the characters\' alternative costumes. Stare in wonder at in-game shots of nunchaka warrior Maxi taking favourites from the original game to task. Feel the lighting effects, the splendour of Namco\'s character design. Alternatively, just lie on the ground and weep. What you see before you is the future.
Included in the screens is a new character, the European rapier wielding Rafael. He seems to have a fencing style from the look of this lot, with the blade being held well away from the body.
These shots are taken from the arcade version, which runs on the PS2-based 246 arcade board. Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube home versions are all on the way later this year.
We\'re not joking. Nothing, nothing is getting us more excited at the moment than Soul Calibur II. Watch for a full playtest of the arcade version in the coming weeks.

Hopefully the PS2 version will look something like this!!!:bounce:

Honestly, maybe its the pixel count, but for todays fighting game graphics, those look pretty bad.

Yes, you maybe right. Comparing it to the last fighting games this doesn\'t look that good. However I imagine my self playing Soul Calibur 1 with this graphics and I can\'t ask for more:bounce:
-
the PS2 version should look as good, seing that the arcade version runs on almost identical PS2 hardware. At least I hope. Looks good, can\'t wait for movies though... :eyemouth:
-
Woho..
I hope Namco will add alot of stuff to this like they did with Tekken 4 (P-Scan, VGA support ect)

Theres nothing wrong with those graphics but the guys hailed it like it was good. It doesn\'t look that good.

Those graphics are nice. Screenshots always degrade quality, remember?

In addition to what 182ways said..are you blind..have bad monitor settings?.. That game looks pretty good IMO.
-
It looks sub-par due to being caught mid way through extensive movement, when in motion it should look alot better. Remember GT3, it didn\'t look half as good as it did in motion.
-
The pics are awesome, I can\'t wait to see more footage in E3. Thanx a lot PSXXX :p
-
Im not impressed, VF4 anyone
-
look ok, not great......very fuzzy, seen much better pics....it just some lower quality pics

That second screen is amazing!!! I love those paintings on the wall!
Can\'t wait for this game!:bounce: Honestly SC on the DC was the best fighting experience I ever had (Maybe only beaten by that fight I had at Kindergarden :D).
So I think this game is going to be great!!
-

It\'s fast!! It\'s fun!!! 1 player game mode is amazing!! You can play for hours and hours just to get everything!! 2 player mode is even better!! And the most important thing: It\'s fresh!! :bounce:
-
I agree with you PSXXX 100%. It\'s the funniest fight game I\'ve ever played.
-
The screen shots look a bit dodge....but i prefer my DOA2 love the game!!!!
-
It looks pretty good, but not the leap I was expecting over SC. In fact it doesn\'t look much different at all.

I also don\'t like SC, found it to be way too unbalanced.
-
Man! It looks so good I can almost taste it:E
-
And it is this screen shot that I messed my jeans for…D*mn this game is going to rock!

There must be well over 40000 polygons in that one dude right there!
-
There\'s 40000 polygons in my pants.
Got to love women who fight in panties.

Given the crappy base development hardware it was designed for, I\'d say Namco did one hell of a job.
-
yeah, but at least they chose the popular console from the start
and didnt have to embarris themselves and come crawling back, *cough* wreckless

Unless it was screen shots of an Xbox game, in which case it\'s either a "render" or a "doctored" screenshot.
But since I\'m in the minority, I\'ll agree with you, screenies always degrade quality.

Yeah, cuz gawd knows Wreckless wasn\'t Bunkasha\'s first ever videogame. We all know that the game sucked because it was on the su>
You have to admit though, that for a game from a porno company, Wreckless was pretty damn good.:D
-
was an ok game, B rated at best
graphically, yes the FSAA and the particle effects were nice, but the filters sucked
control was laughable at best
and the gameplay? it is an insult for anyone to pay 50$ for that game
-
I meant pretty good for a first effort. Compared to Superman 64. How long has Titus been making games?
