Dammit. I\'m at work. I\'ll have it tonight.
I hope I don\'t wet myself scared. :p

My impressions of the game after two hours of playtime are generally positive.
As IGN promised, the game\'s a bit more difficult than the original RE1.. and I\'m playing on "hiking" mode. Right now, I\'m kind of confused.. where\'s the darned storage chest? I\'ve been wasting ammo/ink ribbons just to fit keys into my inventory.
Partial spoiler: What\'s up with that door that needs two octagon-shaped keys? I have the blue gem, and that\'s an octagon shape.. but it won\'t fit. Has anybody encountered the "hall of death" and the Mansion Key? I can\'t get that yet either. *gets squished*

I tried a few different stores, but they don\'t have it yet. :( I almost bought Cel Damage for $20 but got a Memory Card instead. Started playing Rogue Leader again in the mean time... I just got to the level I never beat and saved it so that\'s cool.
I want my RE, though. Friggin Walmarts. The next closest store for games is like 40 minutes away and I\'m busy all week.... Grrr!

I have it as well. I\'ll have a review of it later on when I finish the game. I will also have a Wreckless and a Baseball Advance review up as well. :D

Can\'t you drop stuff on the ground, or did they leave out that feature?
-
Tom G: Nope, no dropping things. Curse you, Capcom.. curse you! *echo echo echo*

I\'ve only been playing for thirty minutes and i\'ve already found about half a dozen combat knives, the sword key, about 4 ammo clips for the baretta, the shotgun (although my inventory was full, so I couldn\'t grab it) and a bunch of files and the blue gem and gold emblem in the dining hall. If you need help, I can give you all the help you need. --including the location of that first item box. ;)

come on dudes i wanna see a review!!!!
-
Yeah I was at GameStop! today and saw a Nintendo fanboy mob waiting for the UPS guys to come in... God I heard some of their conversations, makes you want to pull out your hair.

Control - exactly like PSX RE. Trouble is, the stick is akward for this type of movement (WHY DID THEY NOT IMPLIMENT "Devil May Cry" CONTROLS???) and the D-pad is sooooo tiny! I wish I had the PS2 conrtoller instead.
Graphics - awesome. You\'re missing out. Lighting is dramatic and this time the game casts long realistic shadows. Fluid movement, although not perfect. They still sometimes look robotic but quite an improvement. It\'s nothing like ICO\'s realism though but not bad.
Sound - Lightning will strike fear into newbie gamer\'s hearts in this game. The creep factor is there for newbies but if your an RE vet, you won\'t be that scared. Voice overs aren\'t as campy like the original.
I\'m playing the hard difficulty or "Mountain climb" as opposed to "Hiking Trail" or easy level. Zombies take more lead to kill - 8 bullets! There\'s an auto aim feature with a nice touch. When I heard a moan, I had had Jill aim and she turned around and aimed the other way, indicating there was a zombie which I could not see. You can switch target using the L button.
So far so good. I need to go out and get a better controller. The D-pad works better than the stick but the D-pad is rediculously tiny and placed in an awkward position on the controller.
-
I just got home and I can\'t wait to play this!! *Turns on the Saturn*
Whats the big fuss about? Graphics wear off after time and you are left with (pretty much) the same game you played 6 years ago.
To each is own, I guess. It is either this, SMB, or SSBM on GC I guess.

if graphics wear off after time, why would anyone waste thier money on an xbox then? myself excluded of course :)
-
I wish I had the PS2 conrtoller instead.
Your wish is my command

yeah, i bought the same thing off lik-sang works great

Altered, the game has quite a few additions to the layout, puzzles, and overall feel to the game. Sure, graphics aren\'t everything, but everything here is just so different that it\'s hard to pass up. I mean, there are two additions that I can tell you about right off the top of my head that aren\'t in the PSX or Saturn versions: At the middile of the stairs in the main Foyer of the mansion, there\'s a door "hidden" in a painting. The second is a door inside the room where you found Kenneth Baker and met your first zombie. Suffice it to say, these doors lead to halls and more doors with more challenges. Not to mention the defense items and the overall difficulty of it all. It\'s great fun and the game really is different from the original, barring some control issues of course.
-
just ribbing you guys. Just remember that next time a game gets bashed for having great graphics. People make it seem like a great will never have good graphics or something.
I got my XBox for Shenmue II and Panzer. Arguably the best looking games for their times, yet I bought them for their EXCELLENT gameplay.
Eric Jacob
-
ehhe, and both titles arent gauranteed to come out only on xbox
shenmue II i can understand, but how can you buy a console for gameplay of a game you havent seen more then two screens of, yet alone know how the gameplay is
teehee, i\'d hate to see an xbox fan dissapointed
:)

I played (and immensly enjoyed) the last 3 PDs, so I KNOW this one will be great. I don\'t need screenshots to tell me that. Shenmue II is definetly exclusive, MS bought the rights. If those shots are real time, I am guessing PD will be exclusive as well, unless there would be a drastic downgrade in graphics.

Guess what visotors?
Alterbeast aparently knows for certain that these are in game screenshots!
All praise the all knowning alterbreast
-
Good job cutting part of my quote out. You know damn well that I said "If these are real time"
I say again, Chrono, what happened? You used to be a really cool guy, now you have changed into...DirectXBox. Did your little brother steal your password or something?
Eric Jacob
-
no mr. beast
Microsoft has just given more more and more reasons since the inception of the xbox to hate them..
and Project Midway drove me over the edge
-
you hate them because they have:
made the best console in terms of features ---> benefits of the generation, especially for the money?
Have built up better games in similar time periods than PS2 and GC?
more great games coming out?
Have listened to it\'s fanbase (regarding advertising and controller)?
etc.
Some people cannot be pleased, it seems.
btw, Project Midway was originally named that because it was to be \'midway\' between PC and console. It is a ****ING coincidence that midway also had an alterior meaning that people with an obvious hatred of MS will further use to lower their IQ and credibility. We have people at GA that call XBox "Project Midway" and they sound more retarded everytime they do, since they are trying to bash it every time they do.
but of course, that doesnt explain why you misquoted me, but you supposedly have your reasons.
Eric Jacob
-
yer on top of things as usual altered, but this
"more great games coming out? "
is assanine to say, at best
oh, and why do you two insist on insulting each other relentlessly? we\'re here to bash consoles, not each other, remember?
-

Exactly the reply I expected to hear..
The partial quote I did above is EXACTLY what you did here.
While the book did say that, the book also had more to the quote at which I won\'t go into here.
From this point on I will consider you racist, and will discontinue all conversation with you past this point.
Nice (not) talking with you
-
Come on guys, it\'s a thread about Resident Evil, not the Xbox.
-
I plan to buy a NGC soon, probably in the next few months..
I\'ll probably pickup RE with it :)
I can\'t talk about it much, since I don\'t own RE yet ;)
-
And I will consider you an idiot. I am racist because Project Midway originally started out as what it started out to be. If anything "Midway" as you are using it qould bring a sense of American pride. Remember, we got attacked by the Japanese to start it off. Anything they got they deserved minus the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Your 17 and probably live in white suburbia, so don\'t tell me that I am a racist.
mm - Shenmue II is not a great game? PSO is not a great game? Panzer Dragoon not a great game?
To say that any console didn\'t have more great games coming out would be ridiculous. Surely you wouldn\'t be fool enough to admit that XBox doesn\'t have great games coming out! I only listed Sega games. That doesnt mention Molyneaux stuff, Trigun, Shin Megami Tensei, Morrowind, etc.
yes, let\'s get back to the topic at hand, though. I have not yet played RE, can you distinguish the FMVs from the gameplay? I can\'t really imagine the FMVs being too much better.
on another note, my Best Buy is only getting 12 copies in!! What a blunder by the higher ups since I probably had 12 calls for it in the past 2 days, we also get to lose potential business cause our shipping takes longer, grumble, grumble.
-
xbox will have its nice games, mind you, but PS2 will have much more
morrowwind, *cough* PC port :)
PSO = zzzzzzzzzzzz***
panzer dragoon 1 and 2 were rail shooters, how boring :sleepy:
ive yet to get my hands on a copy of panzer dragoon saga, but its an action RPG, so thats different
i wouldnt brag about anything peter molyneaux is porting to xbox
the cutscenes in RE differ from the ingame a great deal
the animation is alot better, yet the color banding is horrendous
i got mine at CD warehouse, they had 6 copies and i bought 4
one to keep and 3 to put on ebay
:)
-
Molyneaux\'s stuff is XBox exclusive. Since he is offering help and not doing the project, I have alot of faith in PE and BC (from details about it)
PSO used up over 300 hours of my life, probably 1000 of SOnyFan\'s life, that guy is still an addict.
XBox will have games that will not be made for PS2 because of XBox\'s hardware. Project Ego...a game not possible on PS2 because of heavy use of hard drive. PSO, not coming to PS2. Unreal Champ. not coming to PS2, etc. I like a little variance, that is why I buy all consoles (GC will be mine Friday, picking up the best game for it...SMB!)
Right now the only PS2 games I am psyched for (like I am for PDO and Shenmue II) are GTA4, Shinobi, Sega Tennis 2K3, Getaway (hope this is like GTA3), Stuntman, and DMC2.
The XBox has more of the games I want, simple as that.
Why didn\'t they put a drop item feature in the game. That had to be the most tiring thing of the series, having to eat a herb if you wanted to pick up a gun and such.
Eric Jacob
-
altered, at least you got both consoles, i\'ll always respect ya for that
yeah, not being able to stash items is the crux of the series
im a few hours into it, and im noticing all the subtle differences
im going into rooms like i did in RE1 and expecting something to happen, but it doesnt, sort of :)
lets just say VERY LITTLE is the same from RE1 sans the story line and characters
