Yup.. hell hath frozen over. I\'ve decided to buy a GBA. I\'m probably one of the few people out there who decided to boycott Nintendo\'s new handheld because of their hesitance to push the envelope of affordability and power.. not to mention not wanting to add another sheckle to their monopoly which in the end is just holding back the handheld market.
I just got a new job working 12 hours a day and making some phat.. phat cash for virtually no work. All I do all day is fill out paperwork and keep an eye on the ovens so that I can call maintinence when something breaks. Out of each hour, I\'ll probably only ~work~ roughly 10-15 minuites.. which means I\'m going to be bored out of my skull all night.
Since it\'s a HACCP controlled clean room, I\'m not supposed to carry anything in from the outside.. but I\'ll be damned if I just have to stare at a wall all night. The GBA is the perfect size for slipping in my pocket without anyone noticing and it\'s long battery life will keep me gaming all night long while waiting for my next workload.
One problem tho.. I don\'t know what games to get!
To start, I\'ve got my eye on..
Doom
CastleVania: CotM
Sonic Advance 1
I\'d like to get 2 - 3 more games for it but I\'m not sure which ones are the best since I really haven\'t payed too close attention to the GBA lately. Anyone have some recamendations on what their favorite games are. Prefereably, I\'d like an RPG and an Action game.
Drop a few names so I can check some reviews. :D

Get Golden Sun... I had a GBA but I sold it cuz\' I never played it.
CotM is fun as hell but so dark. It gets really frusterating, darker than a Tim Burton movie. Make sure you have a great light source or else you\'ll lose your character off the screen. I also never beat the damn game, it\'s long. So, I\'d say buy it. :D

Golden Sun is your best bet RPG wise, and as for an action game, Final Fight One is good for quick thrills, so is Spiderman.

Advance Wars would keep you entertained for a while as well..

Hey thanks for the suggestions. As far as the RPG\'s go, I think I\'m just going to hold off until Phantasy Star 1-3 comes out and then pick that one up. Seems like the best bargain.. and hey.. Phantasy Star rules. Four other games should be able to last me until then. SpiderMan and Final Fight sounds alright.. but what about King of Fighters? Is there a KOF game in the works/released for the GBA? I could really see myself blowing a couplla hours pulverising lame AI bots with Mai or Kyo. :D

You can import KoF. No localization yet. Also, as bob said, buy advance wars. It really is superb.

Golden Sun was fun as was Castlemania and Advance Wars.
If you aren\'t sick of them by now, you might try the Tony Hawk game, that was good.
If you like puzzle games on your handheld, you might try Chu Chu Rocket. Also, F-Zero was good if you enjoyed the SNES version, but it was a little rough on the fingers.
The one game I haven\'t played but want to is Sonic Advance. I don\'t think you could go wrong with a 2D Sonic like that. Super Mario World is rereleased now, too, so that might be tempting.
There\'s a lot out there, just dive in and you\'ll be happy.

Oh, buy Street fighter alpha 3 when it comes out in September, i highly reccomend it;)

i think im the only person in the world who doesnt like Golden Sun..
i almost bought a GBA just for it, my friend played it and finished it, so finally i got my chance to play it (on his GBA).. and im 7 hours into and just dont want to play anymore.. the story just bores the **** out of me..

I got one late last year and havent played it too much......been playing FFX too much.........doom isnt too bad but it is really dark.probaly sell it for credit on my BBA and Tekken 4 Pre-orders.I got tekken Advance...not too bad ...beats Mortal kombat advance tho....Still waiting on a Zelda 1 and 2 port to the GBA.......(if they can do it for Mario why not Zelda)Please Nintendo dont make me wait too long........I know there are 2 Zelda games out for the GBC....how are they???????????

Thanks for the suggestion.. I think I will pick up Advance Wars. Gonna get DOOM also.. I don\'t care if it\'s only 5 FPS, you should see Half-Life running on my POS recycled 386-Pentium. How much do GBA games cost anyhow? I haven\'t really looked at them too much. On the upside tho, give me about 3 weeks and I\'ll be able to buy a phat azz Alienware system... with CASH MONEY. HA ha
ajoh432 - You need to get a job out here at MapleLeaf. I figured it out, for basically sitting on my thumbs all night I\'ll be making 550 a week.. and after my first two raises in 4 months I\'ll be making almost 700 a week. (After taxes) No experience necessarry. :D :D :D
Oh, and I did kinda think about changing my name to Sinue. That\'s kinda my online gaming Tag now.

As cool as Alienware is, they take forever shipping out your PC as well as they have the worst tech support.
I remember reading several comments reguarding their services.

Well, I wasn\'t going to pick up THAT beefy of a system from Alienware. Maybe a good $1,400 dollar model that I can tweak myself. I just don\'t have the time to build two PC\'s right now. (Still going to turn my vintage 80\'s 386 Monolith into a PIII 800 mhz) And yeah, I\'ve seen their prices.. they\'re insane once you go over a certain power threashhold. (Which just happens to be their bare bones model)
Oh, and I picked up my GBA today. (Yay!) I got the purple one, cause f*ck it.. purple is a cool color. I only had the cash to get one game tho. At first I picked up Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (Sonic Advance and CotM were out : ( ) . It was an alright game.. but not something that could last me 2 weeks until I get my first paycheck. So I took it back and, being the Abandonware nut I am, picked up Wolfenstein3D. I beat the first scenario and half of the other one tonight at work durring my downtime. Figure by the time I get through the entire thing on "Death Incarnate" I\'ll have the cash to buy more games. I\'m damned impressed with it.. mainly the for the fact that they did an almost perfect PC conversion. Sure the graphics are a bit limited due to the resolution.. but everything from the PC-13 logo to the ending screens which just scream early 90\'s shareware is there. Awesome.
Oh.. and JOY.. the lighting in my factory is perfect for the GBA. Didn\'t have any problems seeing the screen. (as long a it\'s tilted just right :p ) One complaint tho.. I\'m having trouble with the controls. The damned thing is so small.. at least with the GameGear I had plenty of room to grab onto it and arange my fingers comfortably. Is there some kind of cover or case I can put it in which will be a little more comfortable?
I wonder if there\'s going to be a lot of old PC games being ported over? I\'d love to see ROTT, DukeNukem3D, Some Sierra & LucasArts adventures, Raptor:CotS, Solar Winds, and a ton other games on this lil bastard. To hell with SNES ports.. if all their old PC game ports are going to be as well done as Wolf3D.. then I might just change my opinion of the GBA.
