Title: PS2 Halo Killer
Post by: MAKAVELIUK on May 03, 2002, 10:51:12 AM
Well. I found a very intersting article about the \'\' Halo Killer \'\' in PSM2 ( UK MAG )

\'\' If you\'re sick of shovel-handed Xbox owners wobbling on about Halo, prepare for a pleasant surprise. According to latest rumours, Criterion\'s forthcoming first-person shooter- first rumoured in PSM2#17- might be even better. Though nothing\'s been officially confirmed, sources within the company are said to be big fans of GoldanEye, Medal of Honor and, yes, Halo. An independent programming source has confirmed that Microsoft\'s premier title is definitely possible on PS2- hinting that Sony\'s machine has plenty of untapped power. We were quoted performance potential of 60-70m anti-aliased polygons a second- without special effects- completely shaming GT3.

RELIABILITY.....................7/10
PSM2 RECKONS We\'ve heard rumours that Sony were developing a top-secret Halo beater, and- hushed whisper - that could be it. Naturally, this is a sheer speculation, but expect concrete detials near E3- and be very, very excited.

Yeah.  There was a time I would get excited about rumor news, but life is just one crushing let down after another \'till you just wish Flanders was dead.

Oh, well.  I doubt it\'ll be a halo killer.... Halo isn\'t just eye candy, it\'s their flagship game because it\'s innovative, fun to play, and good looking.  They\'re obviously going to talk this game up, but even if it\'s as good graphically as Halo, we don\'t know about the gameplay or innovation yet....

For the most part I agree.

I tell ya though.  My wife and I just beat Halo on legendary and it is some of the most fun I have had with a fps in a while.  I think the easy setup of same room cooperative will forever leave a place for console fps in my heart.

besides my PC is too busy with my family playing Dungeon Siege.  Its my computer and i never get to play it... go figure.

You can\'t win, he\'s a keyboard/mouse activist.  But so am I lately, Allied Assault has changed my ways to keyboard/mouse if possible.   The timesplitters setup isn\'t to bad though.

blah blah blah

who cares, this is just a rumour and the game will probably turn out to be Superman 64: 2 - Superman 128

if they were talking about a game (did they mention a developer??) i\'d put my money towards Frontside for the PC, and then most likely onto the PS2

and they wont get that many polygons in game..

*waits patiently for TS2 and MoH*

No way! The magic of Goldeneye (Which IMO is much better than Halo) and Perfect Dark can never be as great on PC!

Goldeneye multiplayer = Undefeatable

If there was any setup for a console FPS that one should be it, other than that, hook on up a good ole mousy and keyboard.

I really like the FPS setup that has come the way of out console, for example TS and Halo(which IMO has the best control setup ever). I much prefer these to a mouse and keyboard, but thats just me

Hmmm... the PS2 can handle Halo huh?  I\'ll believe that when I see it.  For now I\'m just happy to have BOTH a PS2 and an Xbox.

Allied Assault is no where near the same league as Halo.

and it has one EXTREME problem.

Scripted deaths.

If a member of your team is ment to die then theres absolutly nothing you can do to save him. But if he isn\'t ment to die he can sit and take shots all day long.

wtf is up with that? totally ruins the game in some points...

also the enemys have super accuracy which is good for a challenge but not when they shoot you in between the eyes with a pistol while you can barely see them with a sniper rifle.

gimme a break.

AA has way too many flaws and is at best an \'okay\' game.

Okay game??? Its multiplayer alone makes it one of the best FPS ever.  Nothing matches it in that aspect.  Yes, the scripted deaths is lame but I don\'t think it comes close to ruining the first player mode.  Oh, and with the whole super accuracy, I think it makes the game even.  The game is almost to easy for me.

Bah forget all these other FPS\'s,

None of them can compare to the sheer skill that it takes to play competitivly in any of the quakes (Quake 2 Deathmatch esspecially).  All these other "kings" so to speak are just pretenders that hide behind single player stories when everybody has known since 96\' that the real action is online.  One player only lasts so long....which is the same reason why quake\'s are still used in tournaments to declare people as gods of FPS\'s or whatever they do with those types of people....

Half-Life = Better than Quake

In my opinion, Halo will be the best for a long time to come. Theres nothing on the horizon that comes close to matching it

actually, I think PlanetSide might be the best to come. A multiplayer game is much more fun - and at that, PlanetSide is a mass multiplayer game. You can use jeeps, run on foot and shoot everything that has legs. It\'s on one giant landscape and since it\'s a mass multiplayer game, you\'ll have different groups of players invading other players territories. Should be awesome.

I\'m only comparing the single player part.

why compare an online PC game to a console game\'s multiplayer?

As for the accuracy bit, thats fine if its too easy for you (even tho thats not really a good thing=\\) but the fact that the majority of gamers don\'t like it.

Like I said, its an okay game. But too many flaws. I hope Frontline is MUCH better.

MOHAA was byfar my favorite FPs. IMO.I agree with your dislike of the scripted deaths, but i honostly had no such problems with guys sniping me down with pistols.

Hmm... you can\'t kill HAlo anymore than you can kill GoldenEye...  You can\'t replace the fun that you had while playing them at the time.  Even when a better game of the same general mold comes out... its never the same.

I doubt they get rid of the scripted deaths which kinda sucks.

The main thing I want them to do is make it more squad based.  Guys wouldn\'t be just standing around by themselves.

aye Boz exactly!

I mean, hell I love AA and I\'d like to say that saying it was an \'okay\' game was out of line. Its a real good game...but things about it just PISS me off!

Ahh well, I\'m still really hyped for Frontline :D
