I finally decided to buy Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance.
I planed to buy it much earlier but I prioritized other games back then.
Me and my brother are playing it in co-op on Normal.. Very, very fun. We are on act II now by the end (just entered the Ice-cave, by the invisible cats)
First thing I noticed when I booted the game up was the awesome visuals.. This must be one of the best looking games on PS2!
The textures are very sharp as well as the picture quality. (It uses 2x FSAA so no jaggies or shimmering).
The characters are VERY detailed. (I read that the characters use between 5 000 polygons up to 20 000 per character)

As I said.. Very fun in co-op, I haven’t had the time to play it in singleplayer yet though (seems very hard, cuz its even hard when playing 2 players..)

anyhoo, co-op on BGDA is phenominal
wait till you beat the game and go back thru on extreme mode

I just got it today and I am simply amazed at the beautiful graphics. I\'m still in act 1 and it\'s quite challenging already. So much of fun too. :D

You should put alot of your bonus points on Charisma. Helps a whole bunch. The sorceress was my fav. :)

Anybody has finished that gift-mode that appears after completing the game? Extra hard!

I played the game some more today.. Finished the ice-cave so Im at the swamp.. Super nice, lots of water effects.

Im gonna try and upgrade my charisma next time so I get the weapons cheaper :)
Sweet ass game! I love levelling up my dwarf and buying new weapons ect.

Hmm.. I beat BG:DA a few times, and one thing I noticed is the Arcane Archer is broken at later levels of power.
With his multiple arrow thingy maxed I killed most bosses on extreme within seconds.

I was thinking of getting this, Im not a big RPG fan but still it looks cool, is it easy to get into or is it gonna take an age just to start building your character ?

Its very easy to get into.
Its more of a hack and slash game than a RPG.. Still very fun.

I\'ve finished this game on every difficulty (Extreme) and I thought this game was good to look at but it has no where near the replay of diablo on playstation one,I \'m still playing that and finding new stuff and leveling up my mages spells.BG:DA is the same stuff over and over.Maybe they will fix that in number 2?? Just wish Diablo had BG:DA graphics!!!

Theres not enough items and the one player is no fun. CO-OP is very good but doesn\'t make up for the other problems.

Only rumours.. We can only hope :)
But I heard the ending was craptastic and left it open for a sequel..

first of all Charisma is a waste of time because once you get into the third act, its all over the place, better weapons than you can imagine..
Sorcoress is easily the best character in the game, give her the meteor, ball lightning and fire circle spells and she frickin\' rawks over everyone. Also make sure your bro buys strength rings so he can carry plenty of stuff later on (it comes in handy)
its a pity the archer is crap (sorry pahn :p)
also with the Dwarf you really should go for an axe/warhammer that way you can use his magic attacks which come in handy (how often do you use the shied anyway?)
also.. good to see your on Act 2 and already with Full Plate armor :D
p.s. the sorcoress looks better once you take her armor off (she has a thong!)

Absolutely, the ending is open to, at least, another game in the series.

Hmm.. I don\'t think you\'re thinking with your right head on that statement.
The Archer is by far more cheesy. He seriously pissed on every boss in legendary with ease. But you have to have his multi arrow up max. And also a really big bow. But imagine doing like 130 damage *6 or 780... its big, dare I say the biggest attack in the game. PLus its fast as crap.
So there...

by crap.. i just meant.. boring :D i played with him down a few levels before i got bored.. i find using the sorcoress to be the most fun, get her ball of lightning attack up full and watch the enemies drop, plus her shield of fire, its meant to be defensive but i leave it down while enemies are after me and WATCH EM BURN! ;)
but ill give the archer a go again sooner or later.. :)
BTW, yes it has good to see you back, i remember you used to go into the Voice/Chat a fair bit (when it first went up) and you were always the only one speaking..

The most destrictive spell in the game is the sorceress ball lightning spell. And once you get the floating sword to its max level it does considerable damage.

I completed the last boss with a little help from someone named Bob (wont tell who)..
Damn that last boss fell pretty quick after a few hits from my master Onyx wanker sword.
But it took a few tries cuz I hadn’t found the Onyx sword at first so I had to go back. :shy:
Anyways, great game. Im going to keep levelling my dwarf.
(Im gonna post screens later.. To tired now)

Well... at least someone remembers me. I actually go to this board many times a day. Though I rarely post. Everything is pretty much posted anyway. I have very little to offer a board that has everything. There is nothing to debate anymore, really. So I ussually come to look at the pretty pictures.
And yes... way to much Halo, but I still love my PS2 best. So no worries.

I loved that game.
Drizzt was the best part.
Has anyone read the Drizzt Do\'Urden books by R.A. Salvatore?
I would love a whole game based on his character. he is the perfect video game character, with Dual Scimitars, levitation, extremely fast and just plain awsome.
Think of how cool a game owuld be with him. It would have to be full 3D, more like Drakan than BG. You would go to Menzoberranzon, Ice Wind Dale and all the other cool places in the books.
Anyone agree?

Congrats on getting this game!!!!
It is really a FUN game (remember those?)
Especially in 2 player co-op mode (remember THOSE?)
I put tons of hours into this game, playing it over and over with my wife AND my kid..
It is great fun and a great LOOKING game as well.
As far as Ps2 games go, I would give it a 10!
If you don\'t have it, you should!
