IGN Confirms It (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/358/358939p1.html)
Gamers.com backs IGN up (http://www.gamers.com/news/1145584)
My God, the internet is of some use after all...
-
In other news, Konami is delivering 4 brand new Disney sports titles to Nintendo GameCube.. to add to their ESPN sports games for that console. That\'s all they\'ve given to the GCN, sports. I\'m beginning to hate that company..

Konami Announces ZOE 2, Metal Gear Solid Substance
Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, the internal studio headed by Hideo Kojima, reveals its 2002 fiscal year lineup at Game Watch. In addition to some new tennis, BeatMania and anime-inspired games that will never see the light of day in the U.S., two massive titles were announced.
Metal Gear Solid Substance (PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC)
Although Konami offers no details on what this title entails, our sources in Japan tell us that it is a compilation remake of the first MGS, MGS2: Sons of Liberty and the VR Missions all using the MGS2 engine. Hopefully, further details will be announced at E3.
Also, Konami announced their intent to ship a brand-new MGS sequel every two years, and a "derivative title" (such as MGS Substance or MGS VR Missions) in the off years. So, that means MGS3 in 2003 and a MGS game of some sort every year![/i]
-
sorry to but Metal Gear Solid Substance could be this online Metal gear that Hideo has been talking about in nearly all his interviews since the launch of MGS2.
-
Confirms that Metal Gear something is coming to the Xbox. But like it has been stated before, could be an multiplayer online game of Metal Gear (which isn\'t a bad thing. But it isn\'t that MGSX that every Xbox fanboy has been trying to pound us about).
-
I dont know what that means but..
don\'t believe a word unless it come sout of hideos mouth ;)
-
I\'m sorry if people\'s intelligence isn\'t as lightening fast as yours is, DirectXbox. Perhaps you mis-read the part where someone questioned pstwo\'s blurb on MGS.

here\'s a thought
who cares?

Xboxgamers is a friggen joke.
But IGN\'s confirmed it too. So, that\'s good.
-
Ign is a friggin joke but gamers.com is good.

The question is will this sell some X-Boxs? I dont think so. IF someone wanted a MGS2 there would be no reason to buy a X-Box when its already on PS2 and most gamers prefer PS2\'s gaming selection over X-boxes so if they bought a PS2 they could get MGS2 and get some other games they would like. But if in Europe then X-Box may be an ok choice because of the price drop.
May 09, 2002 - As part of its most recent financial report, Konami of Japan revealed that the next MGS game will be entitled Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance , and be developed for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The release includes specific news of major new titles, including "a second and third original title to follow on our Metal Gear Solid series," and "new original titles" bearing the Z.O.E brand.
Titles derived from the Metal Gear Solid series are to be released for multiple platforms, although the report seems to distinguish between "sequels" and "derivative titles." New sequels in the series are to be released every two years. Meanwhile, new games in the Zone of Enders franchise are being developed with worldwide release expressly in mind.
Aside from those major announcements, the release indicates plans to continue Konami JPN\'s successful exploitation of character-based franchises, including Konami\'s own Yu-Gi-Oh franchise and anime licenses such as Hikaru no Go and Tennis no Oji-sama, to produce titles for Gamecube, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance. Altogether, the company plans to release 49 titles in the fiscal year ending March 2003.
Look forward to further news on Konami JPN\'s future plans, particularly new Metal Gear Solid and Z.O.E games, at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Just let it go. Jeesh the game is coming we don\'t need a long reply from you on why you think it won\'t matter. It\'s coming just let it go. The game is coming if ppl want it they will buy it end of story.

I actually believe this is more important for Xbox...it\'s a very strong 3rd party who is making a game for what everyone seems to think is a dead console...and it\'s sure to have enhancements/exclusives that seem to be signature in Xbox ports.
While an exclusive MGS would be nice, I don\'t think it would impact sales of the Xbox in a significant degree. The MGS games will just make a nice addition to the growing library of games...
It\'s quite impressive how some of you die hard PS2 fanboys are trying to make this seem like anything but good news...

I don\'t want my Xbox to die.. freakin\' expensive paper weight. Besides, MS seems pretty serious about giving them away if thats what it takes to get one in every home.
Caurse\' on the other hand Sony still can\'t make PS2s fast enough... I wonder if Billy G. is regretting his move into console gaminf yet.

THis is great news. It\'s what I always wanted. I think it will be hard for them to port the control scheme over to the XBox, but a few sacrifices here and there and everything will be fine, namely the pressure sensitive buttons that are not featured on the XBox controller. Still though, this is EXCELLENT news. THey\'ll have to revamp all the levels in Metal Gear Solid to make it tougher for players with the advantaged of the new enhancements to win. The tank hangar would be much too easy a task with the FPV shooting mode. Who knows WHAT they\'ll do to revampe this beauty of a game. :D

Actually the Xbox controller does have preasure sensitive buttons. So the controls shouldn\'t be a problem. Ya know if your hands gigantic.

Not all off them. Not enough for MGS2 anyway..
-
PS2 Pressure sensitive buttons:
L1, L2, R1, R2, X, Square, Triangle, Circle, [D-pad] Up, Down, Left, Right
MGS2 uses Square for aim and fire.. If you hold it loose he doesn’t fire, hard he shoots.
L2, R2 to lean left and right.. Hard he leans more, soft he leans less. L2+R2 together and snake stretch so he can look up over obstacles.

Just look it up on the web... all six buttons and shoulder buttons are analog.
heres one link
http://www.xboxgamers.com/hardware/controllers/index.shtml
and another
http://www.xbox.com/system/Xbox+Game+Controller.htm
what makes you think they aren\'t anyway.
-
Don\'t bother Pahn...seven lost his ability to reason when he sold his soul to Sony...
He will no doubt try to counter your reply with something he\'s heard from a reliable source (Sony) or one of their first parties:rolleyes:
-
Actually, this is the first I have heard of the X-Box having pressure sensitive buttons, other than the analog triggers. Please, tell me more.
-
the first time I hear it too. I wonder if Microsoft changed it, because I remember a discussion on this some time ago (I think after the first rumours of MGSX). In that case, it shouldn\'t be a problem at all.

Well... basically they\'re the same as PS2s controllers buttons with 256 degrees of sensitivity. But from my experience they tend to be a little harder to push, and that begins to put little painful impressions in the tips of my fingers.
Ya know.. it probably sounds like I am a MS fanboy, but really I still like my PS2 best. Its just I like any good gaming experience I can find.
-
Controller S buttons are a bit more easier to push and reach for that matter...

What games use them because I have not heard of one that does. It\'s usually a feature that is announced and utilized with a game to actually make it a feature, that\'s probably why I don\'t even know about it.

Shoot... non ethat I know of, though that doesn\'t mean there aren\'t any. Most games so far haven\'t had any need to require them.

cool :p

I had no idea that the Xbox had pressure sensitive buttons too untill the day I got wreckless. When playing the game when using the the zoom in view its pressure sensitive. The more down the button the more zoom in view happens.

errr
sorry Ryu but your wrong........ MGS2 uses it
for example it meassures the pressure on the buttons through out the game. eps in Hold ups and shooting long distance in 1st person mode.
if you hammer the button the shoot is far less accurate, but if you gently squezze the button it will land bang on target.
Also GT3 uses it
ISS uses it
and a whole host of others.
P.s.
if you want to know which ones do or don\'t then read the manual,as it usualy tells you in there if it is implimented.
-
real men dont use manuals

Are ye all blind? That ariticle stated they are planning more ZOE games, after playing this again one more time, (i\'m nutty that way) i have strong opinions on this game. IT IS FREAKING TOO SHORT, and leaves you empty and just scratching your head WTF just happened. The graphics were nice, but the game sucked, and the voice acting, my god !!!!! and they blame kids for going ape-sh!t after playing video games
