Title: Im not going to buy games that....
Post by: Bossieman on May 12, 2002, 08:53:35 AM: has a crappy NTSC to PAL conversion. I just tried the PAL version of FFX and decided not to get the game, almost 18% of the screen is black, LOL, Do Square think I buy that game when 18 % is black?!?
The game is very slow compared to the NTSC version.
We get the game 1 year after Japan, 6 month after US and we get the version that is worst. Why??
Sorry Square, I´m not giving my money to you.

Post by: seven on May 12, 2002, 01:04:06 PM: I never saw FFX running on my screen (PAL or NTSC), but I can\'t believe that it\'s that bad. Besides, the borders shouldn\'t be a problem since most people probably have a widescreen anyway.

Yeah, but they\'re not as bad as pal. I\'m sorry you guys have to go through that, but don\'t let it stray you from one of the best games of all time.

PAL is the name of the TV format in Europe and Australia

NTSC is what we have in the states and Japan

The frequency refresh rate is different and I do believe and it forces developers to have to make serious changes to there games to get them to run on PAL machines

devsd usually don\'t bother so they end up with this nast black border that surrounds the screen reducing the viewing area

its pretty much Bull****, and it screws our European and Aussie Bretheren

Post by: THE EYE on May 12, 2002, 08:59:03 PM: The mayn diff. between PAL and NTSC is the higher resolution of PAL... PAL has about 600 horizontal lines and NTSC 500 (a bit more or less). Most games are from JAP, so those must be "fixed" to fill the whole screen in PAL-Format, otherwise something is missed = black borders !

FFX PAL isn´t that bad, but if it´s the same problem with FFXI, than I´ll buy the US Vers. of that game !!!

nothing will stop me getting my Final Fantasy fix :)

Its all moot now

in about 3 - 5 years or by the time of the PS3 there will be a HDTV format options on all games

and in about 5 -10 years the world should all be on the same format
