i find it hard to believe that anyone can call an upcoming game a possible "mario killer"..

and what kind of developer actually builds their game up like that either? sure they might be trying to sell their console, but every respectable developer that ive ever read about LOVES mario, particularly M64..

hell, Hideo Kojima once said it is his dream to try and make a game as beautiful as Mario 64.. and these guys come out trying to claim they have a"Mario killah" ?? ffs

Post by: nataku on May 19, 2002, 08:11:48 AM: TaoFeng looks alright to me... the graphics are nice, but WTF is wrong with their character names? Firey Phoenix? Exile? Fierce Tiger? Couldn\'t they be a little more creative...

Honestly, the only one that looks impressive to me is Blinx (it says Blinx in the pictures)... they need to sharpen up the textures tho. :D

Post by: Simchoy on May 19, 2002, 02:49:31 PM: People calling Dark Cloud or any other game a Zelda or Mario killer are...given that certain game more hype then it deserved. Now, that game has to live up to the quality of that certain game which, more times then not, not live up to so and so expectations because it was called "certain AAA game" killer. Still, like in the case of Dark Cloud, could be a good game on its own right, just not to the point of that previous game.

As for these Xbox games, they look okay. Nothing mind blowning (and certainly not PS2 beating). The platformers do not even look as good as either Jak and Dexter or Ratchet and Crank. They could still be good games, but not a killer app if you know what I mean. And the fighting game does look interesting (though the fighter names, "Firery Phoniex"? Sounds pretty gay).

And use annoyingly "hip" characters.. while Mario is pretty humble and quiet about his work.

just spray paint PC a mouse and RTS Command "claw" and try and fool us into buying the big black ugly brick.

The fighting game looks good. Although with those names, seems very cheesy. Wouldnt be surprised if it lacks any real substance. Like DOA3

Still worth checking out. The other two, lol. Whatever happened to Xbox being for "mature" gamers.

Post by: seven on May 21, 2002, 05:44:11 AM: not to hurt the feelings of some Xbox fans in here, but IMO those screens and games are very underwhelming for them to be SECRET. Reading the topic, I thought they were killer apps, but judging by the screens and names from those games, it sure doesn\'t look like that.
