I disagree with the placement of some bands.... Pink Floyd, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Beach Boys definately should have been higher. Sonic Youth at #17? And why is Radiohead in front of the Jimi Hendrix experience?

U2 should be in the top 10 at least, they have put out alot more hits and cultural changing songs in the past 20 years.

Overall, it seemed like decent placement to me, although there were a few things that struck me as being out of place.

The Who, Pink Floyd, and The Beach Boys probably should have been higher.  Not top 10, but top 25 probably.  Korn...they shouldn\'t even have been considered for this list.

Korn definately deserved to be up there. They made that rock/metal/with a little rap music more popular. Just because you don\'t like a certain group doesn\'t mean you have to bash \'em. And yes, Pink Floyd should have been much higher.

I hate to tell ya this, but Korn was NOTHING revolutionary.  They weren\'t even that good...

They shouldn\'t come close to cracking the top 100, much less the top 50.

considering Korns first (and best) albumns were written while Jonathon Davies was drunk one night, getting in the top 50 is a pretty big accomplishment

and Spin magazine is a piece of ****.. dont take their word for anything..

the ONLY three bands in the top ten that deserved to be there are The Beatles, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin  :)  actually, Rolling Stones deserve their place too.. Velvet underground is adequately placed..

Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath should have been higher.. also missing many bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, Slayer and Tool should DEFINATELY be in there.. bands i THINK should be in there as well are Pantera, Electric Light Orchestra, Nine Inch Nails, Marylin Manson

note:  those choices i made are not made by personal taste, just who i think are the most talented/influential etc.

Well, at least they got the GratefulDead up there in the right spot. Maybe couldda been a little higher.. after all.. they did found a counterculture reveloution which has lasted over 30 years and have played more songs/shows that just about any band in history. They\'re in the Guiness Book of world records even.

Pink Floyd should have been much higher. I think this list was based more on popularity than talent.. with a few historically important bands tossed in to make it seem legitimate. What a bunch of horse sh*t.

Oh, and LUKE... I dunno if Anthrax "Started" the Rock/Rap trend.. but they definately helped found it. There\'s another band out there that I think deserves just as much credit as Anthrax....

Suicidal Tendacies. (Woullda found a cool image.. but I couldn\'t get one in 5 mins or less so fuxor it.)

"Step up sucka, understand. Don\'t you know? I\'m da man!" :p

yes, you make a good point. while anthrax got more mainstream success from "im the man" and then re-doing "bring the noise" with public enemy, tendencies was was doing the exact same thing, just without mainstream success.

oh and here you go....

funny, I think of the beastie boys more as a group..not a band if that makes any sense. As for the Ramones, IMO, they have been rather influential.

How The Smashing Pumpkins dind\'t make that list is beyond me, and the fact that Korn DID make the list blows Spin Magazine\'s credibility right out of the water.

I can\'t believe you people are frustrated about the placement of Smashing Pumpkins and Korn and Tool.... ???

Give me a break

I can\'t fu**ing believe that The Allman Brothers Band and Crosby Stills Nash & Young are not on that list, yet frigging Outkast and Korn and Kraftwerk ARE on it.   Why would they put LYNYRD SKYNYRD and NOT the Allman Brothers????  Idiotic Spin magazine has their heads up their asses.

this is my take...while outkast certainly deserves recognition, they arent a "band"...korn shouldnt even be on the list period.. The rest of yer statement, I can agree on.
