Post by: Chrono on May 20, 2002, 04:57:29 PM
Sony annouced a new recomended game price of 39.99, down 10 dollars.

"Earlier today Sony cut the recommended retail prices of software for its PS2 game console in the U.S. and Canada, a massive move that could have great implications for rivals Microsoft and Nintendo... not to mention the industry as a whole."

VERY awesome news! :D

I don\'t see this as that great of a move, why cut the cost on new softeware??
Just make a range with the older games, that is like $29.99 by that time you would have made most of your money on the game, and can then get a few more sales of the game, because people see it is cheaper.
People would still buy the game if it is $49.99 so why cut the price if you don\'t have too? I mean sony is so far out in front that it just doesn\'t make an sense to me, does that now mean that all the console that sony brings out after the PS2 will have software for $39.99? because if it hasn\'t then it is going to make the games, seem expensive agian!!
But now who is loseing the money Sony or the developer?

I know i should be moaning and i am not really, i just can\'t see the idea behind this move, i mean i can understand cutting the price on the hardware, because that has been out for 2 years, but i just don\'t see the software side, but hey it might make importing cheaper so yay!!

p.s is this for all developers or just sony games?

Sony has recommended to retailers that the price of software developed by Sony be cut to $39(US) from $49(US).

I heard if a PS2 game sells a certain amount of copies, Sony makes it a \'classic\'? and pulls down the price around 19.99$!

It has to be out for 9 months and sell 400,000 copies to become a classic.

It was Locking up right before the battle with OIverdrive sin (right before the FMV....it took me 5 or 6 runs on the Game DR, 2 rund with the lens cleaner and one vent dusting just to get to the battle, the FMV\'s are choppy and the only way it will play the FMV\'s is if I had it on Diagnostics.......  I think there is a DEEP scratch...........

If there is circular scratches go to hints and questions and my post shows you how to fix those.

I was about to get a new FFX before I figured out how to fix those circular \'scratches\'

it isnt circular it is a straight scratch....I\'ll probaly try running it a few more time with the GAME DR and see if it helps...or go out and buy a scratch repair kit.........
