Now, I know this question is always asked...but, normally threads like this go bad because people start giving stupid opinions about consoles they don\'t even own....
I\'d like to know, from people who own all 2 or 3 next-gen consoles, which is your favorite? I own both a GC and a PS2, and I have to say, bar the dodgey controller, imo, the CG is my favorite....the games just seem more "fun"(SMb, SSB, Sonic2), and it\'s soooo nice to get away from those jaggies.
I still like my PS2, though, but it already seems a little dated and boring for me....maybe when FFX comes out here in the UK my interest will be sparked again in it...I\'m still enjoying Rez, and I am going through the beautiful Ico....
What about you?
-
i own all 3, plus 19 others
i play my PS2 more than anything
although RE on my GC has been sucking up time
my xbox? havent touched it since i beat halo over two months ago.
-
Does DC still qualify as next-gen?
If not, then I only got a GC.
-
dc > ps2 + gc+ xbox
-
I\'ll let you know what console is better when they are all out at the same time with great games. In other words, I\'ll get back to you after Christmas.
-
VF4 & GT3 on PS2 get more time than
Halo & Raw on X-box.
I played Halo all the time when I first got it but now I\'m a little burned out.
-
I have PS2 and xbox, but haven\'t played either in a while. There is nothing out now that really interests me.
-
Everything is going real slow now hopefully it will pick up during the summer.
Still waiting for the next Triple a game...I think FFX was the last one to be released.
-
I own both PS2 and Xbox...getting a GC when Metroid comes out!!
My Xbox gets more play time, I bought PS2 as a second console anyway so I don\'t miss out on the RPGs...
-
I have PS2 and GC. I played alot of PS2 last year but now I\'m spending more time with my GC. I\'m looking forward to Metroid Prime this fall.
-
Honestly how someone has more than one next-gen console baffles me. Aren\'t you constantly burning a hole in your pocket?
I just have a PS2. All I want, all I need.
-
I\'m extremely picky when it comes to games, and I don\'t have that much free time. But I do have alot of money...Real Estate is nice;)
Honestly, I don\'t see myself buying more than 5-10 games this year. Ratchet and Clank, Primal, Project Ego, Unreal Championship, Malice, Vexx, Turok, Panzer Dragoon, Sega GT 2002...

Although I\'m not the one to talk sometimes, but that was dumb.

I have a GCN, PS2 and Xbox. Right now they are all collecting dust while I play Jedi Knight and MoH on my PC. I seriously haven\'t touched my GCN in a month or two. My Xbox even longer. I turned on my PS2 last saturday to play GTA3 but turned it off after about 5 minutes. Console gaming is kind of stagnant.
As far as which one is my favorite. I treat my GCN like a youngest child. I\'m very protective of it and when a game is out on all three consoles I usually get it for the GCN. Its so spoiled. My PS2 is probably my favorite though, kind of like an oldest child. My Xbox is like a big fat one eyed step child. When I\'m bored I push it into the living room and slap it around.

NOw this is a story all about how...
-
....my life got flipped turned upside down....
-
...and I\'d like to take a minute just sit right there...

Unfortunately, I sold off my N64 and DC long ago.. so I\'m left with only one home solution.. GCN. Plus my GBA.
Thus I can\'t compare.
-
X-box - step stool, maybe coaster, it works as a great support too
GC - a wonderful novelty, RE was fun whilst it lasted
PS2 - pretty much using for DVDs at this point and time
I\'ll get back to them three when something attracts me, right now I\'m dealing with the wave of good PC games...
and DON\'T mess with my syx it 0wnz j00!

You guys hiring? I am a hell of a salesman. I don\'t like this town anyway. Stupid nowhere Colorado.
-
Eh? Xbox is the better dvd player by far, so it\'s the one I turn on the most (but just for that reason). The GC use has recently stopped since I beat RE. And I fire the PS2 up about every 2-3 days for teeakin. Actually used it today to test my joystick which I modded again.
Right now EMUs have my attention, especially the ki rom.

What do I need to get one? Money mostly right? Not a problem, I already have a slew of other licenses... CDL, Gaming, wel not really a slew.
Hmm... agent, do you go around calling eachother "agent". If so I need a darker suit.
-
...I\'ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air....

Yes you would need a license to be a Realtor...You need the courses - Principles and Practices of R.E., Principles and Practicies II, Law of Agency, and Law of Contracts as your basics. It comes out to around 120 hours. Then you would need an additional 60 hours of related college courses...business, computer, english, math, just about anything...

I own PS2 and XBox,and I\'m getting GCN...
...I\'ll deliver a judgement next year...

Well... I have my AAS in CIS would that help with the college classes I need. I passed all of the classes above.

Looks okay to me, but you need to check with your state commision (or whatever state you move too), as they have minor differences in requirements...

Fair enough, ah well... this is getting pretty off topic anyway.
-
damn agents email each other or smth.
I got PS2, 4 games and not enough time to play them all. I do play to get GC just for Zelda and Metroid, then sell it probably.
As for Xbox, I cant even consider buying it since my friend has it and it\'s basically a DVD player. We already beat Halo and wasted enough money renting games.
Plus I would be too scared to get it and watch drop in price
-
I...pulled...up to the house about 7 or 8...
-
..and i said to the cabby "yo homes, smell you later"..

...and grilled up some steaks as a start to my date.

Am I the only one that thought FFX was overrated???
Playing the same old games on ps2 and xbox because nothing good is out.
*edit* Hunter: The reckoning is out on xbox and I hear it is great.

I dispise the game...the graphics were "muddy", voice acting was horrible, the story was boring, and it cost 50$!!
IMO, it was highly overrated...

I personally have played nor ever play a game called final fantasy, just seems boring to me.

You have to enjoy RPGs to get into it...it\'s not a very good one for beginners though.
I would recommend Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia, or Final Fantasy IX if you are looking into RPGs...
-
I just don\'t like rpgs, i didnt really care for fps shooters either till i got moh frontline though.
-
I didn\'t like them until FF3 (6), been hooked on them ever since.
and FPS, I got so tired of them. After I played Halo for 2 minutes I was back into them and look forward to more FPS...

i thought the voice acting was superb.. especially when you take into account the level and sheer volume there was..
the only other game i really know of that can compare is MGS2.. which has better voice acting, but maybe thats only because there is a much smaller range of emotion and tone for them..
bah.. poor you that you couldnt enjoy a great game :(

Alot of it seemed out of place...sometimes they sounded like robots, other times they were too dramatic, and about 2% of the time is was right on target...
The best voice acting I\'ve heard was on Grandia 2...it was on a small scale but it was A+ work...

Tidus was too fast
Yuna was too slow
the rest of the main cast was SUPERB..
some of the lesser characters were great, some werent so great.. overall i think the voice acting was a great addition and a really good plus..
eh well, *agrees to disagree*
-
Rikku, lulu, and Auron were pretty good...but Tidus and Yuna did most of the talking...
drops subject
-
If the main characters are terrible at voice acting, and they have the most speaking parts, then the game is ruined by it. I agree with Ginko\'s distaste for the voice acting and FFX as a whole. Then again, I\'m just getting sick of RPG\'s in general because it\'s the same tired BS everytime. It needs an overhaul, a big one.
Anyways, a game other than MGS that always gets overlooked for its voice acting is the first Soul Reaver. It had a slightly brtish tilt to it, but it was superb nonetheless. It was great when you had died and awoke in the water and the overlord spoke to you in a big booming voice, a good one at that. Speaking of which, Black and White didn\'t have bad voice acting either. :)

*pops head in*
I\'d just like to say that I also disliked FFX, and FF is my favourite franchise.
The best voice was easily Auron IMO, everyone else was blah.
I don\'t think the voices can even begin to compare to MGS2\'s (as someone earlier compared them I think)
best thing about FFX was its graphics, very colorful. Other than that it was a waste of money and time for me.
-
ffX is FAR too linear
thats my only beef
-
FFX is fine.
Ginko, you mentioned Skies of Arcadia. If you honestly think thats better than FFX, then you have bad taste. Now I bought that game and it was a lot of fun till about the end when you just get sick of the really lame fighting system. The ship battles get old and boring, the magic is old and the specials get real old. That game was a cool game but was not good enough to even keep my interest to finish it.
It\'s hard to make a good RPG nowdays. The best FF was FF2 and FF3. After that, FF will never be the same. So accept the fact that it is impossible for us all to get the same pleasure that the originals gave us. I mean its FFX already (US number too). The fact that the game kept u playing while enjoying it should be amazing enough.
-
I have Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, and Gamecube. I love them all. Right now I\'m playing Hunter: The Reckoning for X BOX, and Resident Evil for Gamecube. I gotta buy Medal Of Honor for PS2! I had no idea it was out!

Good taste/bad taste= opinion. Skies battle system may have been simple but the story, setting, and characters were more than enough to keep me going...and loving it. The only other RPG I hold above Skies is FFIX (most amazing FF, IMO) The reason(s) I finished FFX was its\' battle system (very nice change) and the fact that it was the only game I had for PS2...I bought PS2 for that game! As I said earlier: I didn\'t like the story at all and never connected with the main character. I think those are two critical aspects a person should like to enjoy a RPG...you disagree?
