Chrono Break
The official word on this from Square Co. LTD was that there is currently no confirmation that Chrono Break will be a sequel to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, but that "sequels to popular series are in our best interest."
Final Fantasy XI
Square did acknowledge that Sony currently has no plans to release the HDD in North America, but promised that they would figure something out for FFXI\'s 2003 release. There are plans to release the PlayStation 2 and PC versions in the US; no comment if it would be a simultaneous release.
Final Fantasy XII
The twelfth installment of Final Fantasy will not have any sort of online component and will be a traditional RPG. No word yet of Nomura will be doing the character designs, but Matsuno (who produced Final Fantasy Tactics) is producing the game.
PlayOnline
The service will launch in 2003 to coincide with the US release of FFXI. The fees and server information is still undecided. They did say that while it would be easy to follow the Japanese model, Square was keeping their options open.
Final Fantasy 7-9 Remakes
Rumors gone berserk...you heard it here first. The remakes started out as a rumor, even going so far as to be published in Official PlayStation Magazine. Square denies that the remakes are being planned.
More stuff here: http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2002/1501.html
Anyone know if Square is gonna release a HDD themselves, since Sony isn\'t releasing the HDD over here anymore? Or was that just a rumor? I can\'t see Square reprograming the game to not require the HDD...
I can\'t believe Sony isn\'t going to release the HDD over here anymore... they seemed pretty hyped up about it when they announced the thing, I don\'t see what the problem is.

Well, I can\'t wait for FFXI and XII... As for a chrono sequel... well, I loved trigger, and liked cross, so I\'m sure any sequel to that series on PS2 would be awesome. As for the whole remake thing... who cares, I already own all three!
-
Must be a missunderstanding because the HDD is being released in the US and EU.
They have even confirmed a price of 80USD!
-
i cant wait for al the ff games
-
No PS1 FF remakes? I was looking forward to those.
-
I think that eventually they will remak them. Maybe they\'ll wait and remake them on the ps3.

What about remakes of FF 1, 2, and 3? Then I could complete my collection.

yeah.. I would definently want that... Dammit I wish I had broadband.. I wanna play FFXI BAD!
But since the 12 game isn\'t online... Maybe I won\'t care then..

I can understand why they wouldnt release the HDD in US just because there would be much less sales than Japan. Most PS2 owners dont care for RPGs while almost all of Japanese players are die hard fans. Just compare the amount of Final Fantasies here vs there

I know. FF 11 should not be an actual sequel in the series, cause it\'s just a spin off, like Tactics. It just doesn\'t feel right to me...
But you\'re right, since FF12 is a traditional RPG, and not online, then I won\'t care as much.
Cool beans :)

Waaa? The HDD would have massive sales here in the US, all the FFXI people would buy it... that\'s a lot of people.
