Although I\'ll probably still pick up the ocassional title here and there, my focus is now squarely on other next generation consoles with the addition of two highly anticipated games for my Dreamcast. Many said it was too late.. all the copys had been bought up.. and Importing from online was a nil option as I don\'t have a credit card.. but a miracle happened.
While in Fort Wayne for a job interview, I stopped by McVans Videogame trader and began browsing their Dreamcast section. All I really stopped in there for was to get prices.. and MAYBE buy a GameCube if the price was cheap enough. It was, ($125) and I wouldda gotten one if I hadn\'t happened across two extreemly rare gems.
HeadHunter - DC Import: New
Shenmue II - DC Import: Used.. but mint condition.
Since I was spending the cash anyhow, I also decided to pick up a DC Mouse, PS2 Controller Converter, and a Dual Shock 2.. along with Doom for the GBA.
As of now, just playing a bit of each game...
HeadHunter - It\'s a great game, but not what it was hyped up to be. There\'s no way in hell this could ever have been a MGS2 killah. What was Sega thinking? Still.. for what it is, it\'s a good game. Two problems tho. Excessively long cutscenes between excessively short levels (I hope this changes)... and poor camera angles. They don\'t deture from the gameplay Tooooo much.. so I am extreemly happy with it.
Shenmue II - Nothing.. none of the hype.. none of the praise... none of the glorification this game recieved could have prepared me for it. OMFG... I love this game. I\'ve only just gotten to the point where Ryo\'s bag was stolen and Joy telling him where the boy who took it was hanging out at. Even this tiny bit into the game, and I\'m overwhelmed. Only one small problem.. the framerate absolutely CRAWLS at times.. and often. However, considering the DC\'s hardware and just how MASSIVE this game is.. this small flaw can be easily overlooked. Oh.. and I am offically in love with Joy. I even sacrificed a kitten to consecrate the moment. :D
Doom Advance - Utter dissapointment. After hearing how much better of a game it was than Wolfenstein 3D from all major game sites, I have to say that this was 20 bucks streight down the toilet. Why? Not the framerate.. which is poor BTW.. but tolerable. No.. it\'s because it\'s not TRUE to the original. It has been re-worked.. green blood.. WTF... mis-matched textures.. WTF??? This isn\'t the DOOM I remember from the PC.. this is some lame GBA wanna-be Doom!! Christ.. and I had my hopes up SOOO high after the nearly 100% PC PERFECT port of Wolf3D. This sucker, is getting traded in ASAP.
Such are the woes of an Abandonware nut.
Oh, and by the way.. I LOVE using the DS2 on my Dreamcast. I recommend it fully 100% to anyone who\'s a fan of uncramped hands and hours upon hours of gaming goodness. Altogether, it totaled $130. The best $130 bucks I ever spent... well.. except for that prostitute in Indianapolis... but that\'s another story.

Congrats, man...
Shenmue 2 is godly and if you fell in love with this game after only losing your bag and meeting Joy, prepare to feel like you OD\'ed on Viagra when you meet Tao Li Shao (remember that person from #1?), the numerous new styles of gameplay, the HUGE area that is Hong Kong, the graphics, the much better voice acting & Japanese speech, and much more.
And thats only the first disc...
No spoilers from me but if you want, I can give you some tips and help you when you\'re stuck.
Also, there are the many secrets to be unlocked.
Wait until you get to Disc 2, 3, & 4...
You\'ll be making that secret sauce that would cause McDonalds to go under if people knew what it actually was.

I enjoyed Headhunter also. The game is definetly solid, with a challenge to boot. The graphics are very clean and nice for DC, especially through VGA.
You ain\'t seen nothing then, wait til you meet Xianmin in the park a few times. I will say nothing besides the game gets better and better and better without the tediousness of part one. There are two slightly tedious parts in Shenmue II, but they are pretty fun for awhile.

Yes, True Altered.. I don\'t own every cream of the crop title out there. But every game that I looked at on the DC which made all twisted with excitement inside, I now own. Everything that REALLY interested me.. that REALLY made me buy the DC.. I have.
Well, with one possible exception. Half-Life. I REALLY wanted this game on the DC.. even tho the PC version IS better.. and even tho it is available on the PS2.. I still wanted it. Ah well.. such is life.

Congrat\'s on Shenmue 2 , Sonyfan. I have a long sad story about that game. I had the chance to pick it up three weeks ago, but passed it up for a Transformers DVD box set instead, figuring that the Xbox version would be "oh-so-great\'....E3 came, the Xbox version looked like crap and so I ventured back into the same store , in the same spot that I hid away that Shenmue 2 copy...Only to find it was no longer there....:(

Speaking of spending lots of cash today, I so wanted to pick up Shenmue II, but instead, I ordered a pre-installed back lit black GBA from lik-sang.com. Quite a bit on the shipping, but that\'s no big deal to me considering just how great of a unit i\'ll be getting. I\'m just going to give me old unit away to a friend who really needs a GBA. Shenmue II is the next item on the list to pick up though come June 10th. :D
On another note, what bastards here have tactics ogre for the GBA? Damn thing is sold out everywhere.

Definately get Skies of Arcadia! The only good exclusive RPG for DC.
Grandia 2 is alright.

SFA 3 - Nix, I\'m not a huge StreetFighter fan.. I only got MvsSNK because I needed a bit of 2d fighting goodness. Who can beat a game that consists of both the greatest 2d fighters ever?
Hydro Thunder - Nix, not really interested.
San Fransico Rush 2049 - Nix, Thought about it.. but there\'s other games I\'d rather play.
Daytona USA - Nix, thought about it too.. but I\'m not a HUGE fan of racing.. and I\'ve already got a few racers already. Plus I hear the Online servers are down. :(
NFL Blitz - Nix, Don\'t like sports.
NBA Showtime - Nix, same as above.
Sega Smashpack(s) - Nix, two words.. PC Emulation. :D
Bomberman Online - Nix, Bomberman has never really appealed to me.
As for Samba.. I agree that it\'s a unique and innovative game well worth owning.. plus the Maracas sound cool an all.. but I can\'t stand the latin dance beat. If I had a game LIKE that.. with music I could enjoy and get a rythm going to.. then yeah in a heartbeat I\'d get it. The Samba Maracas on PSO are close enough for me. :p
Oh, and I jus thought of another one I want. BLEEM for DC.. MGS. That sounds good.. enhancement + VGA compatability... but um.. I\'d probably just end up emulating it on my PC and have even better visuals. So I guess.. Nix on that too.
Skies of Arcadia is one I\'ll definately keep my eye out for.. but it\'s not top priority. Top priority right now, is my PS2. I don\'t even HAVE one of those yet.. so I think as far as expanding my gaming horizons, I should pick one of those and a NGC up ASAP... with Xbox a bit further down the road.

Umm.. why spend the extra cash when I have a copy sitting right here? I can jus download a freeware PSX emulator. (Or probably Bleem now that the company\'s gone bust.. it\'s most likely abandonware)
Sure the PC version has a few enhancements... but I\'m not going to pay for the same damned game twice. Sorry..

Yeah well, last weekend was pretty hectic. Saturday I could\'t be there cause my friend Jennifer had a birthday party I was invited to up at Pieres. Static X was playin, and I ended up getting pretty buzzed. Came home, slept for 2 hours, got up and couldn\'t get back to sleep. I tried getting online, but I fell asleep with the controller in my hand at the character select screen.
Maybe this Saturday night tho... same time, same place.
