I would like to know all of your opinions on Red Faction 1, and if I should buy that game or not for $20? I love FPSs with a decent plot and tight controls? Any opinion will be appreciated. Thank you.

Buy it.
Fine controls, good enough storyline, very Half-Lifey..
i\'d definately recommend it :) especially at that price.
good 2 player deathmatch as well :)
-
Would you say it is better than Half Life?
-
No. I actually hated the crap out of this game on the PS2. The framerates were so dodgy, and the game engine that supposedly lets you destroy everything is ... a gimmick at best. Buy Half-Life on the PS2 instead if you really need a great single player FPS game.

I hate first person view games .... gets me dizzy and gives me seizure\'s:evil::boom:
-
I think it has the best FPS first player experience since Half Life, but I wouldn\'t call it better. If you want something better than Half Life go for Halo.
-
Is it just me or is anyone who played the **** out of Golden Eye 4 player just sick of simple FPS shoot\'em ups?
I cant even enjoy Halo anymore (besides 1st player which is like a week worth of play), after playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Renegade. Real Time Strategy combined with FPS is awesome.

What Ryu said was 100% true. Not as good as Half-Life, framerate is annoying (at first) and with the exception of a couple of deathmatch levels, the Geo-Mod technology was rarely used after the first 3rd of the game
but the game itself is really good, and for $20 you cant go wrong :)
-
Let\'s just say that I didn\'t even like first person shooters until I played Red Faction. Go ahead and buy it, its great. :)

If you\'re looking for the best single player FPS on PS2, go for Half Life. That game is amazing. No other FPS with a story compares, IMO.

Never played Red Faction, was considering picking it up too.

Look in VF4 forum "This game is still inferior to Tekken" and in Off Topic, "Ps2 online plans-I\'m new". :)

it has its flaws but its pretty cool

I started playing it again today, its ok, but after playing Halo, I got bored after about 10mins, the loading times are pretty frequent, and irritating, give it a rent first, or just wait for Red Faction 2

I bought the game from Amazon/Toys R Us Back when they had that 3 for 2 deal. I personally didn\'t find it very interesting. The graphics and weapons were nice, but a few hours into the game I gave up because I was just....bored. I may be FPSed out, though. I loved Wolf3d, Doom and DoomII, Dark Forces, and maybe Hexen. I don\'t know what it is, but I just can\'t find one to my liking these days.
My boredom with current FPS is really a mystery I\'d like to solve. I wish I knew if I liked DoomII so much because it was a somewhat new genre, or because there really was something about it that the new FPS don\'t have. And if so, what is it?
I can tell you the start of my disappointment began with Quake and Jedi Knight, even though a lot of people swear by these two games.

i really enjoyed it, but it may show its age now.. but for 20 you cant go wrong
-
I would rent it.I beat that game in about 4 days because its so easy, i would have beaten it in 3 but the loadtimes are worse than deus ex, which i gave up on.for 10 more you can always get rtk 6, but then again im obsessed ;) It\'s one ofthe better FPS\'s out there, contrls r goodexcept for tedious aiming, but ato aim takes care of that.andthe whole i-can-blow-the-bridge-up-to-take-out-ur-tank scheme is just plain kewl.

Perhaps it was the simplicity that you liked.
In that case i would have to recommend the original TimeSplitters. Single player cant get much more simple than that. ;) Although once you finish the story mode the challenges actually are fun.... dammit, that backfired!
Also maybe you should try Halo, i know a lot of people who werent too happy with the state of FPS\'s until they played Halo.
