Heres the link.
MSNBC.COM (http://www.msnbc.com/news/761330.asp)
This is too funny, haha bill this is what you get for putting all your ****ty monopolistic software on my computer, and why it runs like sh!t.
-
Wow that guy\'s a genius. Did you read about the process he took to find out about the "secret boot block?" It\'s also pretty sneaky for MS to have that info stored on the graphics side of the architecture, made by nVidia.
You knew it would happen sooner or later but I thought it was gonna be by some Tawainese website. Not a guy who would do it for hobby and non-profit.

Well... it\'s your choice to have it on your computer. If ya decide you want your games to work thats pretty much the sacrifice. It sucks that there are no decent alternatives for PC gaming.
It\'s interesting that they finally make a good product with windows xp. and it is the most chalk full of monopoly crap. sure ya don\'t have to use it, but it sure is conveniant.
As far as hacking the xbox... cool, maybe they will let it run an OS eventually and voila a nice cheap computer. It would be convenient for setting up older lan gaming. Not to mention.. well I just won\'t mention it.
I could care less about pirating software however... there isn\'t any games worth pirating right now anyway. (I already have Halo)
-
I have also read somewhere else that someone has found a way of replacing the xbox dvd drive with a standard pc one made by pioneer. This boots all backups but not originals!
-
People like this guy are pathetic. But the site did say he claims to have hacked it. Hacking is something terrible that happens with all console. Sooner or later these no goodnicks find a why to get all there software for free.

Actually it wasn\'t my choice to have it, xp came with the computer so it was kinda thrust upon us, and since we\'ve had it we\'ve encountered countless numbers of updates and fixings and what not.

I think this is good news. It\'ll basically allow Xbox users to do the same things PS2 users will soon be doing. Turning their console into a low cost computer. Of course, an actual PC will still always be superior.. but it would make for a nice back-up and something to tinker around with just because.. well.. you CAN.
Hey mm, looks like you finally found a use for your Xbox. Load that fukker up with music and hook it up to your computer as an MP3 server. :p
-
X-Box hacked..?? should make it interesting for XBox-Live then :)
-

Those guys are genious.
-
Lol, that\'s great finally an excuse for getting an Xbox. :D
-
I remember someone saying a while back, brag about security, and it makes them try even harder
xbox live is next

You know Linux is free right? And I wasn\'t trying to insult you. Just saying that there is always a choice. Even if XP is thrust on you... that doesn\'t mean you have to keep it. There is alway Fdisk.

Did everybody miss this?
Huang said he separately discovered that the console’s serial number is stored in its memory, and that the data might be readable by the central operating system. “What happens to this information when the Xbox is plugged into the Internet?” he said.
What were their plans.. something is fishy

well its not New.. I mean its just another in a long line of
The Unsinkable Ship (Hit by an iceberg)
The Uncopyable Operating system (copyed and sold within second of going on sale)
And now
The Hackable Console (hacked by some Guy from MIT)
Remember anything created by man will never be UNDO-ABLE !

True, but you don\'t have to buy a computer.

Other people that are not from Boston actually say that..... So, . . . whateva.

NOMAH!
I\'m glad someone hacked it. Any time you spend that much time trying to make your system unhackable, instead of making it good for its purpose (gaming), you\'re asking to be hacked. They deserve it.
Now, mind you, I am writing this post after Explorer just crashed on me...again...

We also say ka for car and Medfa for the city of Medford.
The list is endless.:)

I wish somebody like this MIT guy would spend some time reverse engineering the Honda ECU from the S2000. S2000 enthusiasts need a programmable replacement ECU badly, and there doesn\'t seem to be anyone trying to figure it out. You can buy a Mugen ECU, but it\'s not programmable, just preset to work with other Mugen replacement parts.
I think the problem is that computer geeks don\'t care about cars, and car freaks don\'t know anything about computers (generally). We need some cooperation.

Speaking of such, is the GC hacked yet? Same question with the PS2 (though I probably asking when, not if).
-
define "hacked"
the PS2 can be chipped to play pirated games
the GC cannot, yet

Hacked as defined in the article.
