I am thinking of buying Spiderman on PS2 when it comes out this friday but I\'ve heard mixed reviews and I really want it but I\'m worried I\'ll complete it like in did with Spidey 1 on the PSone so quickly...It looks great but £40 is a lot of money and I was just wondering if anybody knows the longveity of this game and if its any good?

i played the PS2 and xbox version
i got bored of both within a few levels, but then again, i get bored of just about every game anymore

I\'ve played the XBox demo version that came with the XBox magazine and thought that it was alright. I\'m not sure I\'d pay $50 for it though.

There are only 3 major complaints you\'d need to worry about, so I\'ll mention those first.
1- Short game length (bout 4-5 hours)
2- Camers can get a little problematic
3- Tobey Maguires little quotes can get annoying after awhile
Other than that, the game is excellent. Especially if your a huge Spider-Man fan like myself. The game captures that special feel you only get while web-slinging across New York. It feels incredible, much better than SM 1&2.
There are loads of secrets to find, as well. And the ability to play through a special game as the Green Goblin (this is not just an alternate costume, you really play the Goblin, complete with powers and all).
So, bottom line, if you\'re really serious \'bout buying it, then it would be okay, if you can live with the above flaws. But if not, then you got a steller rental.
After spending more time with it, I change my previous review to:
8/10. :)

Thanx for that honest review, I\'m gonna get it and if I do complete it within a few hours I\'ll try and unlock everything and then swap it for something else...I\'ll be playing Medal Of Honor:Frontline too...plus LMA Manager 2002 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 which I\'ve both been playing for ages.
:)

I played it. Got real borring very fast. THat ugly spidy costume was just sickining.(Shirt and jeans) and the gameplay was rather wack too me.

That was his wrestling costume. He only wears it for like 2 levels (because he was in a flashback).

Well from what I\'ve heard the web slinging is inspired, but it\'s the indoor levels that bring the game down.
To those who\'ve played it: what do you say?

Sort of. I mean, those "stealth" levels in Oscorp are downright impossible to beat without getting detected. They really pissed me off. I really did enjoy the web-slinging and aerial combat.
-
Another thing I heard yesterday about the Xbox version at least is that you can fire a web up into the open air and it will stick to... the sky... and let you swing.
Is this just stupid, or is it necessary to make the web swinging playable?

I got the game when it came out on friday along with MOH:Frontline and they are both awesome games
anyway, on the PS2 version you swing in the sky as well (huh?) is that possible?
it\'s a great game and I\'ve just beaten the shocker and I\'m onto the stealth mission which is great...
It\'s a great game but the camera mode lets you down at times, the air combat is hard at first but thats what the training is for...
I really enjoyed this game and the replay value is excellent...and the alternate green goblin/norman osborn story is good
anyway I would give this 8.5/10

im thinking of getting it tomorrow. and take it back on sat.... if it aint good that is....
-
well I hired it for 2 days and clocked it in one, seemed the same as the ps1 games except shorter,Only 4 bosses.I don\'t think I\'d pay $50 US for it and I love my spiderman.I\'d give it a 7/10.Sorry spidey.
-
well i got it, and to be honest im not that impressed, i prefered it on ps1
-
I beta tested the game a while back, seemed ok, but then I dont pay for my games anyways :D
-
4-5 hour play time, ill take bouncer for $20
-
I\'ve not had much chance to play it but I\'m really far, I\'m on the level where you have to get the information from the oscorp computers without being seen, it\'s bloody annoying, especially as I\'m not being a pussy and playing on the harder difficulty...
Anyway I enjoyed the game and the hardest level on it was the first aerial combat with Green Goblin where you have to save Mary Jane...
