Royce is completely right. The man gets away with anything...if he elbows somebody in the face while going to the hole, it is not he who gets the foul called on. It is the person who just got an elbow from a man who is 7\'1, 350 pounds.
It\'s pathetic, and it\'s why basketball has sucked for some time. It\'s only fun to watch the game when this man starts to lose.

That guy is saying things like Shaq won\'t play well as a point guard if he was a smaller player. Well no ****. But players like Iverson won\'t be able to play well as a center even if he were as big as Shaq because he has the skills of a point guard; therefore, he won\'t be able to play good low post defense or offense or get rebounds.

shaq wouldn\'t be able to be the superstar he is, if he had to play within the rules of the game. If every foul of his was called he\'d be fouled out with 2quarters tops. He has no game other than his own "specialized" game, which in other words mean run over people, elbow them, and hook them.

It\'s not that, it\'s the way he does it. If you were to sit down and watch what he does for one game, you would see where half of us are coming from. Hell, even the play-by-play men for NBC catch on to this stuff, and they point it out on the air.
You would be surprised at the number of Anti-LA people are out there, had a nice chat with Cerebral (Who is from LA, no less) about it, too.

I used to like Shaq, hell I used to sport his jersey. But I just can\'t stand the way he plays now, he just bulls his way to the basket with no regard for the rules. I would say that he fouls about every other play.
And saying that he has a physical advantage and makes use of it, is true. Yes he takes advantage of it, yet it doesn\'t mean that he isn\'t breaking the rules. That\'s like saying, since shawn bradely in 7\'6, he should be able to goal tend, because it takes a physical skill to do that.

I\'m not mad at shaq. I couldn\'t care less about shaq. I just think it\'s absolutely ridiculous what the players get away with. Sometimes there are fouls you can\'t even see and then other times people get slammed and nothing. Just plain stupid.

Someone with the balls actually said something about the big man. It\'s just ashamed he thinks he\'s like the high pride of criticizm and he actually thinks that if he works for ESPN he\'ll get credit for what he just said. I hope he knows Shaq is negativity-fueled by the media. Once Aldman said sh*t about his free throw shooting, he went out and shot what, 12-14 or something like that?
It\'s hard being the person who is redefining his position and the league for that manner. If it wasn\'t for Shaq, I bet you the centers wouldn\'t be as good as they are now. You gotta admitt, it\'s crazy seeing how he can man handle people in the paint. But again, you get homesick for a little "dream shake" time and time again, because it was classic basketball.
People are just whinning on the tremdous respect Shaq has been earning these days. He certainilly hasn\'t won 2 (working on 3) championships by eating milk and cookies. He had to take the dark road before the road to success. It was a huge blow to him when he lost to the Rockets in the 95\' NBA finals. Now he\'s winning, and everyone is jelious because no one believe he could do it.
When you are that successful in the industry of media, your intitled to your little cheesy commercials or movies or apparrel lines, because it\'s part of the media, accept it.
When you have a championship ring(s), you earn a lot of respect from the officating crew, I\'m sorry. It\'s extremly evident. Michael Jordan is by far the person with the most officating respect.

I do see where you anti laker/shaq people are coming from, but to a certain extent.
Shaq does get away with some calls, but a lot of other players do too. And even if Shaq gets away with more calls than others, how can you blame Shaq for that? Blame the refs. Shaqs just taking advantage of it like anyone would. Also if the refs start calling more fouls on Shaq, Shaq is smart enough to find a way of playing alittle less agressively. Of course hes gonna be less dominating but he would still be the most dominating player.

Shaq, yes, he wins titles, but with his girth, does he need the help of the officials, too? His game is extremely aggressive, it\'s a good game, but aggressive, so why should he even get help from the refs? It\'s a shame...not a shame on Shaq, a shame on the NBA. The officiating is pathetic.

Yeah i read that earlier today. I agree with all of it except the part where he says Shaq couldn\'t play PG. Well Shaq was big his whole life so he never had to practice PG, therefor he would suck at it.
But anyways, finally someone in the media has the balls to say it like it is. Walton gives hints at it during games, as do others. But this guy said it flat out. Go him.

I read that atricle earlier today too. I think it\'s 100% true. I hate everything about the way Shaq plays. Its basically impossible to play d against him and not either foul out or sit out most of the game w/ foul problems because of the way shaq plays

He makes it sounds like Shaq just gets the ball, dunk, repeat. Has he seen the jump hooks? Reverse layups? Floaters? Left-handers? SHAQ/LAKERS CAN BE STOPPED PEOPLE, THE KINGS FOUND OUT HOW 3 TIMES DURING THE PLAYOFFS, WATCH THE TAPE, TAKE NOTES.

you honestly can\'t say to yourself that the Lakers really won the series against the Kings. The Lakers only won 2 games of that series, and were given two other by the refs. They won the finals by themselves, but even the most blind lakers fans I know have to admit that they were given the series against the Kings.

I love the Lakers as much as I love ham and egg sandwiches but they aren\'t a dynasty yet. But they do have the potential to be. A few more titles in the next couple of years and maybe I might say they are but until then, meh.

A lot of Laker fans I know aren\'t really fans. They just jumped on the bandwagon when Phil went to the Lakers 3 years ago. I guarantee you that some of the people that were Bulls fans back in the 90s are now Laker fans. Some people just have to root for the Championship team.

Shaq to me, is a dominant player, but if he didn\'t get calls like he does, then he\'d be only a little bit above the rest of the centers in the NBA. As of now...hes two or three tiers above them, but to tell you the truth...Kobe bothers me more than Shaq.

God dont get me started with the fake fans of the Lakers.
I remember last year in the playoffs, they were sweeping all the teams they faced and by the time the finals came around, everyone had their stupid little laker flags hanging from their cars and ****. And then the Lakers lose game 1 of the finals and everyones talking about how they suck. Then the Lakers win the next 4 games to win the title and the "fans" are now talking about how great they are. God they piss me off.
I also hate how the rich snobs of LA are becoming such big fans, even though they are just into them cuz everyone else is. But if you ask them to name 5 players from the Lakers they wont be able to go past Shaq and Kobe.

BTW...those NBA Finals were BOOOOOORING. Whats the point of the Lakers playing the Nets when the Nets have no one and I mean no one that can stop Shaq even minutely. Kidd seemed shaken too. Kings and Lakers were much better.

I can verify what Cerebral said. Los Angeles is full of poser Laker fans. When the September 11th attacks occured, all these idiots just took off their Laker flags and put on US Flags. It doesn\'t matter to them what it symbolizes, only that they are doing what everyone else is doing.
The article about Shaq was correct in many ways, but a little overly hateful. Sure he doesn\'t know ball handling like a point guard must know it, but thats because he\'s never needed to learn it. Presumably if he were 6\'1" he might have tried to learn it.
I\'m sick of Shaq, and I do think he\'s bad for the league and basketball in general. I won\'t say I hate him, but I do HATE the Lakers in general. It is not jealously, it stems from something much more meaningful. I was raised in Phoenix, and I am a Suns fan. I have hated the Lakers ever since I knew what basketball was, and they gave us many good reasons to feel that way. Remember in 1990 when Mike Downey predicted the Suns would "fold like a tortilla" in their series against the Lakers? Laker hatred is galvanized in statements like that. BTW he was wrong.
The NBA is becoming a freakshow where the only goal is to get the biggest heaviest center imaginable, turn him into a star by some bizarre marketing hoodoo, and then base all your offense on dunking. The NBA as a whole has glorified the dunk beyond the level of absurdity. It\'s such a stupid thing to focus on because it remains irrelevant to the outcome of a game. A dunk, no matter how spectacular, is still only worth 2 points. The only way they can make it worth more than 2 is by making up a special rulebook for their special freak/centers, and giving people like Shaq a foul and a trip to the line on every play.

Simple point is most dont like shaq because he makes the nba look so easy, they are use to the point guard being the top guy, or shooters, not some one who does 3 foot hooks,

Isn\'t it possible that the NBA is changing in a way we don\'t want it to? Instead of "getting left in the wake" many of us choose to just not watch the games anymore. That\'s not what David Stern wants.

How exciting is it to watch Shaq shove to get position in the lane, plow the guy once he gets the ball, and either gets fouled or dunks? How are you expected to defend the guy? I\'d much rather watch the style of the Kings vs the Nets, and most people agree which is why the ratings for these finals were terrible. How i wish Vlade wouldve just grabbed that rebound or tapped it somewhere else when Horry hit that 3. I just cannot stand Shaq\'s dominance just because he\'s enormous and the calls he gets.
Now Kobe, yea Kobe is very very cocky, but the man has got talent. He is unbelievable IMO. Put him on one of the worst teams in the league and he is gonna be an MVP candidate. As much as I dislike him he can do it all.

Fayded usually doesn\'t make much sense. He really hates Kobe because he has sent Fayded to bed in tears many nights this summer.
And Clowd, Shaq has more than 5 years in him, at least 7.
