Title: I finally have cable modem! WOO! But BOO to pop up ads!

My internet is so fast, that sucked in the end user while I was downloading a song through Kazaa! :eek: :p

But now that it\'s so fast, the pop ups are nearly instantaneous here at PSXCentral! NOOOO! STOP THE PAIN!

I\'m at 1400 kbps download and 127 kbps upload

That was at peak hours. This morning, I broke the 2Mbit  barrier! :eek:

I have DSL, and the highest I\'ve ever seen a transfer rate go was 70kb/sec. A large improvement for when I was on a 56k and didn\'t see anything higher than 7kb/sec.

I\'ve lived with 56k all my life and wondering.. What\'s the best kind of cable modem.. And what are the costs to own one? I plan on getting one shortly..

I would "shop around" to check out the local ones......there is problay an Earthlink one around you or check your local Phone companies.

Well....I was in the same position as you before so I went to a forum like this and did a poll as to which was faster - DSL or Cable modem. Cable modem was the fastest and the price was the same as DSL. I know mine is clearly faster than my fiance\'s Verizon DSL.....I\'m using Comcast Cable. It\'s like LAN - as soon as you power on your PC and your OS is loaded, you\'re online.

I don\'t even think our house can have cable.. Since we have none of those cable jacks in the walls anywhere..

we have satallite, Directv. Hooked to only one tv in the house... That\'s our main tv for shizz.. I just use my tv in my room for local television and videogames.
