Anyone else having alot of wildfires in your state? There\'s one in Northern Arizona now that\'s burned about 20,000 acres. Moving about 3 MPH right now. A couple of my friends have cabins around where the fire is. Meh, big fire.
In the last 36 hours it\'s grown 10,000 acres.

The gov has declared a state of emergency. As if drownings weren\'t enough, now were gonna burn to death.
-
No kidding. How long has it been since we\'ve had rain in these parts? I think i remember hearing we set some kid of a record in the sate of AZ. Bah, i want rain!
-
Past three days here has been rain rain rain.... Today was nice though finally. Sorry.
-
here in cali we have a couple, with one that had an air tanker that
crashed, you all probably saw it on the news.
-
Yeah just what I need another picture of an airplane exploding into the ground...
(I fly out in a couple more hours)

well aslong as you\'re not hitching a ride on an ait tanker, I think you\'re pretty safe. However I\'m willing to bet that if you were on the air tanker, the ticket\'s would be cheaper.

And we wouldn\'t run out of gas... (Not like that happens often on a commercial airliner)
-
Yeah, I\'ve never heard the pilot say "excuse me passengers, this is the captain. And we are running a bit light on fuel, so if any of you happen to have some type of fuel in your carry on lugage it would be highly appreciated. Also if everyone could open up their windows and begin to flap, we might just make it over the mountains. That is all"

Yo Fayded...
hear about that dumb-ass who started another huge fire when she tried to signal a helicopter? I tell ya, stupidity at its best...
-
Yeah i heard about that. Idiots.
How big is the fire now? Somethin like 60,000 acres. Damn, it\'s grown like 35,000-40,000 acres today. It\'s close to being the biggest wildfire in AZ history. I live about 150-175 miles away from the fire...and i can see the smoke clouds above the mountains. They look like thunder clouds but there are no clouds to speak of in AZ right now. One beeg fiar.
Edit- Yeah, there\'s also a smaller fire that has joined up with this one. Making it even bigger. And to think it\'s 0% contained...with 25 MPH winds expected tomorrow.

Here\'s some pictures from the fire...

when i flew over the grand canyon (arizona) there was nothing but dirt, wonder where this fire is happening, because i didnt see anything green
(2 weeks ago)
-
The Grand CANYON is rock, a canyon. You know. Was there supposed to be green everywhere? There\'s alot of forest in AZ, a hell of alot more than people think.
-
Here\'s a great satellite picture.

Yeah, the big blueish area is the fire. The little blue area is the other fire that has broken out.

Seriously...
we\'re not all deserts and cacti...
The forests are more up north, such as Flagstaff (I LOVE Flagstaff), so you just didn\'t go over any. I don\'t think you\'d miss the thick, black smoke.
Ha ha...Canyon...

I just got off the phone with my Aunt. She lives in Chole (sp?), and they just had to evacuate. She was crying pretty hysterically, and I could just barely take down the phone number to where they were staying.
God damn wildfires...
-
WOW. I took one look at Fayded\'s pics and freaked. I live in the surrounding of great lakes and had no idea those fires got so big. I figured they were very slow but damaging.
-
This thing is huge now. 250,000 acres. The two fires joined together. And to make it worse, it\'s still 0% contained. They say it can very easily get bigger than 500,000 acres.
And yeah, people in Albacurque(i slaughtered it), NM can see the smoke.
