I already Own A PS2, But now thinking of getting another console since the price drops, Which should I get..??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks
-
That one\'s easy...which console has more appealing games to you?
-
You really can\'t go wrong with either one..
Just head over to GameSpot or IGN, check out the games for each console.. and decide.
I myself picked a GameCube, and it\'s working out great. I would wager that the Xbox is a worthy buy too.
-
It all comes down to which console has the most games which appeal to you. This should have been posted in console -Debate-, not discussion.
-
the only difference anymore is games
do you want halo 2?
or do you want mario, celda, and metriod?
-
I would get an Xbox
Why?
Better games, Built in HD and a proper online plan
-
define proper?
they are using the infamous K-mart "bait and switch" technique
aaargh, i wish the "built in HD" dispute would die already
-
well i prefer the ps2, but if i had to get another id get the gc, but id wait for some more games to come out.. in uk there isnt amny games
-
If I had to buy another system, I would buy GC. XBOX hasn\'t got many games that i\'m interested in. GC seems to have a nice line up.
-
GC, in all it\'s lack of maturity still has some hot titles.
-
If you are in the US, get an XBox. MS has shown everyone they are willing to stick around and have been bringing out solid titles every month.
Get a Gamecube if you live anywhere else but North America or Australia. MS hasn\'t been quick to get releases out in those countries. It all comes down
1)Playing alot of very good games with a couple GREAT games a year.
or
2) Playing a handful of GREAT games a year, with the rest of them being overly blah.
XBox has nearly twice the games of GC in America and that doesn\'t look like it is changing anytime soon. Of course, I would tell you to get both, otherwise you will miss out on Mario, Zelda, what looks to be the better version of PSO, Monkey Ball 2, etc. or Halo 2, Project Ego, Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue series (it\'s in the bag pretty much :)), online sports from Sega, BC, etc.
Eric Jacob
-
As it stands, you really can\'t go wrong with either. There\'s plenty of games for both that everyone should at least want to try. If you want a list for both, just check out my list of most anticipated games in this (http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=22276) thread here. The list for all consoles is fairly different and distinguished.
-
AlteredBeast: Could ya at least make an effort to come off as unbiased?
Nintendo bashing isn\'t going to make it easy for people to accept your opinion.
-
yeah, how many A+ xbox titles came out in the last two months?
i thought so
poop, filler titles, and more poop
anything that xbox brings out at xmas time (PDO, shenmue 2, project ego, blah...) will be completely crushed by what nintendo is dropping.
OMFG! im actually sticking up for nintendo
please, kill me now....
*hold on to yer hats folks, we\'re going for a ride down console debating road*
-
If you cant make your mind which to get, dont get either, just use the money to buy more ps2 games, etc
-
mm, c\'mon!
How many A+ titles have come out for the GC of PS2 in the last two months?
i thought so
poop, filler titles, and more poop
-------------------
anything that xbox brings out at xmas time (PDO, shenmue 2, project ego, blah...) will be completely crushed by what nintendo is dropping.
--------------------
Wow, can you peer into your crystal ball and tell me next week\'s Lotto 649 numbers?
-
Therefore, every single game that\'s come out in the past while is poop or filler. Therefore, one can only conclude one thing: The gaming industry is doomed. Sell your consoles while you still can!
-
Resident Evil = poop!
Bomberman Generations = filler!
Eternal Darkness = more poop!
Har har har? :)
-
come on watch, yer using tactics now, :)
i hate to say it, but nintendo is going to COMPLETELY dominate this xmas
they\'re due to release a pokemon game any time soon, i suppose
-
I was doing it sarcastically, you know, retyping exactly what someone else says to reveal the absurdity...nevermind...I really shouldn\'t have had to explain.
Anyway, Eternal Darkness isn\'t out yet. Bomberman Generations is really just another Bomberman (not a bad thing, but not groundbreaking or system selling. Resident Evil is poop as far as I\'m concerned.
But anyway, like I said I wasn\'t serious.
I could\'ve listed Outlaw Golf, Morrowind, Hunter: The Reckoning and World Series Baseball, but I responded with sarcasm instead. True not AAA titles, but how many AAA titles get released a year for any system? Those titles are good solid titles, exactly what gets released every summer for any given system.
Next month Buffy and Enclave see release. There is lots to play for any system, and xbox is no exception despite what mm says. :)
EDIT: At least mm got it.
-
watch, i do believe i\'d kiss ya if you wern\'t so damn fugly
:)
-
Hey, I got it.. I just wasn\'t sure whether to debate or just let it be.. :)

Ya got a problem with the HD... damn man, my Xbox makes a right proper "Juke Box"
-
did someone just call RE poop... looks like someone doesn\'t know a good game when they see one, or not their type of game, or just angry that *cough* xbox *cough* can\'t produce mare than one good game every 3-6 months.
-
*cough* or maybe you just aren\'t a very intelligent person, in fact are decidedly unintelligent *cough*
Wow, I guess using these parenthetical "cough"s means that I am being clever and these people here on the internet will think I\'m cool and actually like me.
Go watch wrestling.
-
I\'m sorry, but that comment was not needed. just because we seperated the forums doesn\'t give you the right to do some 1st grade name calling. Calm down before you get put in timeout.
-
This forum is where the trash from console discussion will sink to. It will also contain the more heated topics. Please leave yer sensitive feelings in console discussion
-
k, point accepted, but I will not stoop to his level.
-
That was a pretty stupic dcomment though, TOBG. I mean when just last EGM, 3 XBox games garnered scores over 8.5, you know you sound pretty stupid. In fact nearly every issue that comes out has a few XBox games averaging around 8.5\'s. Even the spectacular MoH:F averaged about an 8.3. WSB got game of the month and they called it the best baseball game ever. Moto GP got .5 under WSB and they called it the best bike game ever, etc.
So my comment stands correct. Get Xbox if you want a few very good games a month with a couple GREAT titles a year.
Get Gamecube if you want a handful of GREAT titles a year, with alot of crap mixed in. There are a handful of very good titles for GC, a year too, though.
so STFU.

No, you\'ve stooped far lower. Like I\'ve said a thousand times before, I have no tolerance for knee jerk, uninformed console bashing. You are one of the worst offenders, chiming in time and time again with anti-xbox sentiments.
I\'ve demonstrated that I can be civil here and base my game opinions not on which console they happen to be on, but how good the game actually is. You, you don\'t.
So yes, go watch wrestling, and cry to your mommy because someone on the internet hurt your feelings.
-
Gamecube Or XBOX
-
the only difference anymore is games
do you want halo 2?
or do you want mario, celda, and metriod?
Star Fox, Eternal Darkness, RE2,3,4,Veronica, F-Zero, Perfect dark, MArio Tennis, Mario Sunshine, Pikimin 2, ect.
I would be able to name more X-Box games but i dont pay attention to their line up.
-
niether does the entire country of japan
*rimshot*
-
I am thoroughly impressed with your ability to out-do yourself everytime...
This is perhaps your finest hour...IMO.
still laughing
This moment should be framed or something for onlookers and smartasses to admire forever...
-
?
-
It was a compliment as to your wit and synical sense of humor...
never mind
-
blade, that was about the dumbest thing you could\'ve said in a topic like this. I was still asleep at the time I made my last comment, but I realised that this topic\'s initiator asked what he should buy, I told him straight out. If you give ANY straight answer in a thread like this, you MUST be biased by your comment, correct? Note that I am not making fun of you, but that was a pretty poor comment you made.
cloud345 - why state Halo 2 at all, then? That was stupid and it makes you look like a jackass. "Well, XBox has Halo 2. BTW, Here are some of the great games and rehashes that are going to be on GC!!!!!" Pretty dumb.
Since you have already stated GC games, let me state some XBox games:
Panzer Dragoon Orta, Raven Shield, Splinter Cell, Blinx, Project Ego, Unreal Championship, Halo 2, Project Gotham 2 (both online), Sega\'s 2K3 games all online, Spikeout Extreme (online), Sega GT 2002 (later with booster disk for online), Crazy Taxi 3 (rehash :p, but it has been getting very good scores), Shenmue II (the greatest game of our time), MGS2: Substance (rehash, but adding crap), Steel Batallion (controller...wowzas!), etc.
and you forgot PSO Episodes I and II and Super Monkey Ball 2, chummmmmmmmmp.
the only difference now is the AMOUNT of games. Even with XBox\'s sheer amount of releases, it still maintains a better good to crap ratio over PS2, even though it has it\'s Kabuki Warriors and Azurik\'s. :) Both are great systems, but XBox has more games, more developer support, and more exclusive games.

Hehe, I\'m getting rather tired of people criticizing my posts..
You really can\'t go wrong with either one..
Just head over to GameSpot or IGN, check out the games for each console.. and decide.
I myself picked a GameCube, and it\'s working out great. I would wager that the Xbox is a worthy buy too.
Does this sound good to you? Even though I am a Nintendo fan, I gave this guy a totally unbiased answer. If you like what GameCube offers, get GameCube. If you like what Xbox offers, get Xbox. Enough said, right?
Your post, on the other hand.. seemed to have a hint of bias in it. Let me highlight my point.
Of course, I would tell you to get both, otherwise you will miss out on Mario, Zelda, what looks to be the better version of PSO, Monkey Ball 2, etc. or Halo 2, Project Ego, Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue series (it\'s in the bag pretty much ), online sports from Sega, BC, etc.
If you\'re in the US, get an Xbox? What if he doesn\'t like what Xbox offers? You must agree that "if you\'re in the US, get an Xbox" was far more silly than anything I said. (well, maybe not.. I lost it a bit after that first post.. ;))
Good games, great games, blah games.. all subjective. Yet again you inject bias into your comments.. which is acceptable. We all make biased posts.. myself especially.. but if you\'re going to point the finger at me, calling my posts stupid.. take a look in the mirror. I\'m not the one that gave my choice an unfair advantage in my suggestion.
-
I know my comment was biased, I enjoy the XBox more than the gamecube. Can I give straight answers and be unbiased in this thread. Later, my post above, I detailed some of the great upcoming games for XBox which help support my decision. I don\'t think he wants to be told "Go get the one that best suits your needs" He wouldn\'t come here if he didn\'t already try that, no?

You know, N came into this generation stating that it\'s all about games.
It\'s funny, because I don\'t consider them a viable option for me because they have no games that compell me to buy it.
N said they had learned from the mistakes of the N64, but it sure as hell doesn\'t look like it.
I think that is what Beast is implying.
-
I\'ll sum it up in 2 sentences, Watchdog:
1. Most developers had little faith in GameCube after the N64, thus they were slow to start on development.
2. Once the developmental ball is rolling for GameCube, it won\'t stop.
-
blade, i really hate when yer right
-
What is he right about? When will the developmental ball start rolling then?
Eric Jacob
-
I hate this thread...
-
shut up, what was the point of coming in here? Hey, I heard Backlash 2002 came out on DVD, better fire up the ole PS2 and make the trip to Wally World!
Eric Jacob
-
You could be right Blade, but it could be that MS and Sony have done a better job of courting devs. N is still high on fees and extraordinary publishing costs.

Watch out, or I\'ll layeth the smacketh down on your candy ass...
-
Watchdog: Let\'s hear a source on that.
One thing I know is, Nintendo is collaborating directly with Sega, Namco, and Capcom on game development.
Sony and Microsoft aren\'t.
AlteredBeast: When "great" games start coming on a monthly basis. I\'m looking at.. probably August.
A lot of big 3rd-party (not to mention 1st-party) games are coming in the second half, and 2003 is reportedly jam-packed with goodies. I\'d have to think that 2004 would be at least as good as 2003. Thus it rolls..
-
Easy go with the Xbox.:thepimp:
-
I don\'t have a source, I thought it was common knowledge. I don\'t care enough to go digging around.
You don\'t think MS and Sega have more than a 3rd party relationship? What is Namco doing for N that it isn\'t doing for MS/Sony?
It also seems to me that Capcom is spreading its big franchise games pretty evenly around the 3.
If they are working directly with these companies it surely isn\'t paying off.
-
What is he right about? When will the developmental ball start rolling then?
The ball will start rolling if all of N\'s big titles (metroid, star fox, eternal darkness, re series, ect.) are succesful.
-
Namco, Capcom, and Sega are collaborating with Nintendo on certain Nintendo franchises. Namco and Sega partnered with Nintendo for the Triforce board, which a Namco-developed Star Fox and a Sega-developed F-Zero (both designed by Nintendo EAD) are appearing on. They\'re also appearing on GCN, and being published by Nintendo.
In addition to that, I\'ve read that N\'s licensing fees are extremely competitive. As for MS and Sega, I feel that they have a very close relationship. Closer than Nintendo/Sega. Of course, is Xbox getting MS/Sega-developed games? Not yet, if ever. As for "paying off".. both jointly developed games are coming out in early 2003.. the point where the ball is rolling quite fast according to my estimates. If you want to debate Nintendo, read up. ;)
-
And Sega\'s primary arcade board is basically an xbox (or at least there is one in development).
F-Zero and Star Fox would be coming out regardless.
I still don\'t see this partenership being all that beneficial. It still comes down to publishing and N isn\'t getting anything of note that isn\'t going everywhere else.
We can look at releases next year and N is solidly in last place in terms of 3rd party support.
-
We can look at releases next year and see that we don\'t know about 80-90% of them. gg.
-
Well I guess you are going on hope, optimism and against every sign.
I am going on the past history (N64), current developer actions and common sense.
