Ok how do you guyz turn off your playstation after playing???
i mean do you just eject the disk and shut it down, cuz to me that doesnt sound like a bright idea. but i dont know how to do it "properly".
-
Yes.
:D
-
YES what??? just eject the disk and shut it down??? doesn it harm da thing??? cuz it says trying DVD re-read and crap.
-
I think its in the manual.....(go figure)
But i believe the proper thing to do is remove the disk, close the disk tray and hold the reset button to put it into stand-by. If you dont plan on using it for a while then turn it of from the back(while its in stand-by)

My process simply goes like this, I\'m done with my game, I put it on standby... then I go back to it.
Have never had a problem w/ my PS2
KNOCKS ON WOOD VERY VERY HARD!!!
-
i just leave it on standby.
-
I leave mine on standby at all times too. In fact, my PS2 has only been turned off by the switch in the back one time to my knowledge, and that was because I moved...I bought mine on launch day, and have had no problems whatsoever.
-
I just don\'t get the point of stand by. Why not just turn the thing off? True, very little electricity is used, but you\'ll be saving energy none the less.
-
Simple... because it is better for the Hardware... :D
-
yea, dont argue with a floating eye..you never win :)
-
When you guys get the harddrive it\'s a totally different story.. You must properly shut it down by going to "shut down" "log out" option.

Lucky. Mine is dead. Doesn\'t play the PS2 format CD-ROMs (blue back disks) anymore. I need to get it fixed but don\'t want to send it to Boston.
-
That sucks...maybe I am lucky. But if you turn the machine off with the switch in the back, it apparently is important to take the disk out. I\'ve heard of games being scratched by the lens and so on.

Give SCEA a call. They will generally replace a buggered unit with no questions asked.
Of course politeness will always help... :hold:

Did it a while ago. I get to get it fixed for the low low price of 119 bucks plus shipping. I\'m shipping it out soon. All the local repair shops say that it\'s "cheap and should throw it out and buy a new one because they are cheap".
