This is just a shock to me. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile was found dead in his hotel room today. The causes of his death are still unknown, but it is believed that he died of natural causes.
This comes just days after St. Louis also lost Jack Buck. This is just a horrible event for baseball, and the city of St. Louis.
:( :( :(

Was he a current pitcher or was he a retired senior?. If he was currently pitching I dont think you can really die of natural causes at such a young age....unless of course you consider a heart attack or brain anurism natural.
-
He is only 33. For a man to die that young of natural causes is odd to say to the least. There has to be more to it. Very sad to say the least.
-
Kile is a current player..slated to start todays game agaisnt the cubs.
-
O yea..ronso..Buck was a commentator if I remember correctly for STL..kinda like Harry Carey to cubs fans.
-
Actually, he was supposed to start tomorrow. Todays game was obviously called, and tomorrows may be too. This is really sad.
They say he died in his sleep. He was found in bed. The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

How old was Buck?
And regarding Kile\'s age. I dont really see how he could have died from natural causes. Possibly just an early diagnosis without an autopsy.... Im not gonna comment on what kind of a life he led becuase I knew nothing about him. But is it possible at all that drugs were involved?

Jack Buck was 77 and has been sick for a while.
-
Buck was 77. He was one of the more important and famous sports casters out there. Similar to what Harry Carey was to cubs fans, as luckee said.

Holy cow. That is a shocker to say the least. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this.

Meh, you just posted a little before me...
I actually picked the Cards at the start of the season to win the series this year. It looks like this will give them a reason to play. Win it for Darryl.

i always liked this guy no matter what he pitched his ass off, i had him on my fantasy baseball league for the past three years never dissappointed me cuz he always put up the numbers he was suppose to, my prayers go to his wife, and his three children.

I actually just heard that his father had died of a brain anurism at age 44. Perhaps this is what killed Darryl too.

Well, this is another sad turn of events for the St. Louis Cardinals and the MLB, and as a die hard Cubs fan, my deepest consolences to the Cardinals Ballclub and all of it\'s fans. The Cubs and Cardinals may be a rivalry, but what\'s happened to the Cardinals Organization over the past week has nothing to do with wins or losses, and I, along with all Cubs fans, are deeply saddened by it.
It\'s hard to find the words when something like this happens...just thought i\'d say something about it, as I usually don\'t have the opportunity to say something at my mom\'s house with her WebTV...ugh.
And yes, the Cardinals have something to play for now, but Kile was a huge leader on that team, and the Cardinals will miss him dearly.
See Yuz.
