Title: All systems go for Rare on all systems and other news.
Post by: Bladez on June 24, 2002, 04:41:23 PM
Thanx to EMG for this tid bit.

Something smells fishy in GameCube land, and it\'s got Rare written all over it.  Their suspicious absence from E3 only served to further fuel the fire around rumors that the developer is leaving for more flexible surroundings.  Recent buzz indicates that we may learn the truth about their multiplatform future after Star Fox Adventures hits the U.S. And to whet your appetite further, here\'s the latest reconnaissance:  The first games in their lineup are rumored to include a PS2 version of Perfect Dark Zero(can you say online play?)  and an Xbox sequel to Conker\'s Bad Fur Day.  Current speculation indicates that publishing duties will go to a major third party (to be announced) with GameCube-exclusive titles handled by Nintendo.  Those may still include Kameo: Elements of Power and Donkey Kong Racing.  Other Rare series may get divided up as well, so if you\'re a fan, you may have to buy multiple systems.  Stay tuned...

Other articles were about Sonic, Doom III, and a little thing on GTA4(prepare yourselves for a whopper of rumor, folks.  Here goes:  The just-announced Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is just the beginning of what will become known as the GTA Universe.  After Vice City, the next GTA game will be dubbed "Crime Online."  And if you haven\'t guessed by now, it\'s going to be the first console-networked title in the series.  There will be a new stand-alone GTA as well, but that\'s still away off...

*Possible Spoilers*

Silent Hill 3 news:
The brief video we saw featured a little-girl protagonist who winds up in a messed-up alternate world during a trip to the mall it\'s your standard Silent Hill storyline.  The chick was wielding a submachine gun and taking on larger, more original enemies than the acid-spitting weirdos from SH2 in a cool new subway scenerio.

Well now off to talk about a GTA wannabe.

Rumors, rumors and more rumors.....Still, it wouldn\'t surprise me now\'a\'days, espically with Rare being almost completely absent from E3 and now with SpaceWorld being cancelled, it seems almost likely that it is because Rare doesn\'t have a lot to show.

Like I said L-I-C, I\'ve only typed what they printed.  Though I would like to see a Conker sequel.:shy:

Could this mean the end of N as a hardware producer?  If they are getting out of the hardware business, cutting Rare loose (and the costs associated with it) would be a logical first step.

It\'s the same ol\' news regurgitated and regurgitated. What do I think? I think that Rareware is going to remain in the Nintendo camp but allow their games to be ported to PS2/Xbox as EGM states.

There\'s money to be made, and even if GameCube is successful for Rare.. they need to diversify.

lets assume both PD games came out at the same time.. if the PS2 version had online play.. i would get that, otherwise, i will get the GCN version :)

Why would you favor the GCN version over the PS2 one?  Just curious?

I would get the NGC version simply because, in my own twisted little world, I believe that Perfect Dark (and all Rare games really) belong on a Nintnedo System. Don\'t wanna buy a NGC? You don\'t get to play those games.. end of story. Same way I\'d rather play Malace or Halo on the Xbox, Sonic and Jet Grind Radio on the Dreamcast, and Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill on the PS2.

Well, the GCN version would likely be fine-tuned for GCN.. not a PS2 port. The other way around.

And if it was a direct PS2 port, it would probably be smoother and slightly prettier. I\'d go for GCN.

Of course, if the PS2 version had online play and it was good.. I\'d consider the PS2 version. Definitely.
