So, what\'s the latest game you\'ve added to your collection and how do you like it?
-------------------
I was going to buy some big-name-good-for-nothing game like FFX, ICO or Medal of Honor yesterday for my PS2, but I stopped on my tracks when I saw a luvverly discount bin with dozens of PSOne titles.
So I ended up buying one of the best games ever; Mr*Driller! It\'s so goudah! It\'s like a damn drug. Kinda reminds me of Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, but it somehow feels better. The only downside; no 2-player mode (in which SPFT2 destroys just about any game). Japan got a special version with a 2-P mode, but none of that for us. Those Namco bastards.
Honestly, I can see this game spinning in my PS2 for as long as there is life in it, like SPFT2 it really grows on you, your brain shuts down and you go along with sheer intuition, panic and the weird lust to get deeper, deeper, faster... err...
It\'s midnight now, and I really need my fix. So I\'ll just go drill me some colored bricks. Cheers :D
-
Eternal Darkness. I\'m liking it more and more as I go along.
My rating so far? Hmm.. maybe a 93 or 94. I like the cinematic feeling.. the camera\'s great.
-
Is the action good Blade, I\'m considering it, I need some impressions.
-
last game i bought, Hunter the Reckoning
took it right the hell back, and got Nevewinter Nights instead
-
Billy: The action is good if you get the controls down.
Right now, my only qualm is the targetting of enemies besides the one directly in front of you..
Otherwise, it can get boring to fight at times.. but that\'s not really the focus of the game.
-
Just bought Pikmin a few hours ago.. and i LOVE it :D:D:D very unique and fun.. this is what my GCN has been waiting for :)
-
Twisted Metal : Black... Oh what have I BEEN MISSING! Haven\'t had this much fun with cars since Vigilante8
-
Eternal Darkness - I\'ve already stated my opinion on this game and my opinion has not changed in the least.
Bomberman:Max 2 Blue - A Bomberman game for the GBA. I personally enjoy it quite abit.
Final Fight One - Another GBA and a classic game at that.
Breath of Fire 2 - I\'m not a huge RPG fan, but I enjoy this GBA port quite abit also.
Maximo - I traded that craptacular Dytansy Warriors 3 for Maximo. I\'ve already beat Maximo along time ago, but I needed it in my collection.
-
I haven\'t bought a game in about 2 months...my last purchase was FFIX. After beating it I can honestly say. Best. RPG. Ever. IMO
Everything about the game was high quality and I enjoyed every minute of it. The only thing I found useless was the trance system, used it to my advantage like 2 times.
My next purchase will be soon, I\'m looking at WipEout Fusion, Twisted Metal Black, or Dark Cloud.
-
FFX.. I wont get it untill monday, bah..
Damn weekends!
I also damn the damn stores for taking overprice.
Its going to cost me $72.. But it will be worth it.. I hope :)
-
My latest purchases are the Wavebird and Eternal Darkness.
The Wavebird is ok. It does what it does. I caught myself leaning way back for the phone when I could have just moved (no cord keeping me in place!).
Eternal Darkness is awesome, in my opinion. I find it really intense. It doesn\'t try to be "BOO!" scary like Resident Evil. I suppose it\'s more like Silent Hill 2 in that aspect.
It\'s also very linear. You control the pace and discover things - and you discover them, but the game guides you essentially from level to level. And I think that\'s a good thing. Free roaming games get boring often.
I\'ve only just started digging the fighting system, two hours in. I found out that attacking and running is the best way through a large group. It\'s also insanely useful to chop off the heads of lesser enemies. Then they can\'t see you and stand in place while you move to the next in the group.
For enemies that you need to go after body parts, I only just figured that out. Targeting locks your position, so you can\'t afford to just aim at, say, an arm. You\'ve got to get into position first, and then aim to make sure you hit it. That works for me.
The storyline is pretty crazy so far. I\'m trying to take it all in, but it\'s starting to get ahead of me. I\'m not worried though, it should get clearer as I learn more. It\'s uniquely laid out in that you really play the story rather than just read it.
The insanity effects are cool to me, too. I\'m not talking the "my head fell off and started reciting Shakespeare" stuff either, which is pretty fun anyway. I\'m talking the "I just heard a loud knocking at the door but no one\'s there" and "there\'s women screaming and being beaten somewhere closeby" kind of thing. You really have to focus on not being scared by that stuff because you KNOW it\'s not really happening. w00000!!!
Just the other day, I also got Zoocube for GCN. It\'s a puzzle game and if you\'re not looking for a puzzle game, pass on it. Otherwise, it\'s new idea where you rotate a cube and match pieces that fall from different sides. The trouble is that the pieces are oddly shaped and multiple colors which makes it easy to get the pieces lost together and in the background. When the game picks up in number of pieces and speed, you might hit the breaking point where nothing even looks like it should and it\'s not long after that before you fill the cube and the game ends.
Last week I got Bomberman Generations, too. It\'s a 3D adventure game with some Pokemon-style Charabom thrown in to help give new kinds of abilities and bombs. There\'s an occasional mini-game, but it\'s basically solving simple 3D puzzles to advance. It\'s pretty fun with a usually much harder, but not impossible boss showing up about every 3 levels. There\'s a story that gives a point to it all and it is fun for a while. It\'s not quite keeping me captivated to the end, especially in lieu of Eternal Darkness, but it\'s a decent game. The multiplayer, of course, is off the charts. It\'s simple but frantic and even a beginner has a chance. Vintage Bomberman as far as that goes.
Those are the recent ones. Before that I got Virtual Kasparov for GBA. It\'s a chess game and you\'d like it if you\'re pretty good at chess. You unlock locations and opponents and will have fun until the difficulty just totally owns you. You\'ll hang in there wanting to unlock more, but unlike a Bomberman boss, there\'s no "trick" to it. These guys just wup you over and over no matter what and you realize you suck! Turn it off and go buy Eternal Darkness, haha!

FFX. I wanna post a review in main forum. Let me a couple of days.
-
Aww, guys, forget FFX and go get Mistah*Drillah! At least I LOVE it!
Go, Driller! Go!
*hums along with the catchy main theme*
One of the best soundtracks in a puzzle game, lovely...
*iz nutz*

I just bought it last weekend man! That game is *****ing! They even have a Stones tune on there. I think some of the levles could have been more innovative though... but all in all it\'s a great game.
-
Latest game I bought was VF4.. And I liked it.. But I dunno. I got bored with it fast.. All fighters seem to do this to me.
And everyone here keeps babbling on and on about how great it is.. And meanwhile I never play it cause.. I find it dull. The fact that it didn\'t have movies only made things worse. I guess Tekken 4 seems to have mini-games that will keep me un-bored with it.:)
-
I havent bought anything in months. Recently, I\'ve been renting game after game from Blockbuster thanks to that $20.00 Rewards Card (an ingenius idea), so I guess I could talk \'bout those.
Medal of honor:Frontline- great, really enjoyed it
Morrowind- had to house sit for my aunt, and she\'s got an x-box, so I got it. Wasn\'t that good.
Legion:The Legend of Excalibur- sucked major balls
Fatal Frame- gonna actually beat it this time. a great game that I plan on buying very soon.
Alone in the Dark: The new nightmare- awful game

Do you play Single Player or 2 Player? I get bored with single quickly but playing against my bro and friends when they are over is great. We\'ve played 100 matches in a row!
-
Medal of Honor- Decent FPS but nothing like Allied Assault
Way of the Samurai- Very good game. Original in every way.
-
I just got Test Drive and World Series Baseball For the Xbox. I am very pleased with both.

I\'m lucky I rented Test Drive, it sux0rs.... too simple, better games out there for other systems.
EDIT: Why would you get test drive, when you can have GT3 for $20???

I like test drive, althought it is a bit easy. As far as GT3 goes My Daughter has controll of the PS2 for now. When she finishes her games I\'ll snag it for a while and check out GT3. The thing I like about test drive is racing amongst traffic. I also like burnout. To me a good game = fun and those games are fun.
There ya go a nice edit.

Editted by Bobby ~~ We will not put up with your fanboyism in Console Discussion. Consider this a friendly warning.

NPYYZ and Billy, please refrain, i want to avoid deleting posts and moving threads (i kinda like this thread)
Thank you :)
-
I just picked up two new games.
Megaman Battle Network 2 - I never played the original but decided I\'d give the sequel a go. I\'m not too impressed so far.
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - Impressive. Lovely. Immersive. The list goes on.
;)
-
I picked up Twisted Metal: Black. It took me a while to get use to the speed of the game as the previous games were not this fast, but I\'m starting to enjoy it.
Note:this is a game I played for about an hour at a friends\' house, didn\'t like it and wrote it off for future purchase. Decided to give it a second chance, so glad I did. Kinda makes me want to give MGS 2, GTA 3, and ICO another go...
-
I picked up Gunvalkrie and Maximo (about two months ago).
What I like about GV, despite its many flaws, is that it allows you to excell and become Jedi-like. It\'s old school in its difficulty and once you get really good, it\'s a blast to fly around kick ass.
Maximo is also a very flawed game, but its good for kicks every now and again.
Both were very cheap at Blockbuster--I wouldn\'t buy either at regualr price or anything near it.
-
Gunvalkrie, Morrowind, Halo, and a few others being made are games I wanna get for Xbox when I get mine. (soon)
-
Just bought FF8, So far its pretty cool. Still on disk one though
-
The last 2 games I bought:
Hunter: The Reckoning - Multiplayer mode is fun.
PGR - a challenging, but fun game. PGR is the best racing game that I have ever played.
-
Resident Evil for Gamecube. Never played it on PSX so it was a new experience for me.
-
hey fastson, why did they overprice it? so u are actually gonna have to pay $72 bucks?! id rather get it at blockbuster used, but it would be cheaper
-
my latest game purchase was thps3 and its a tight game
-
Update: I just went and bought a new TV (thank God) and two games..sorta\'.
Wipeout : Fusion: . I couldn\'t tell you much on it, as I haven\'t played it a lot yet, it was late when I got in lastnight and I had worked all day. What I played seemed okay, but didn\'t seem to capture the feel of the original. More details later.
Silpheed: The Lost Planet : Well, I didn\'t buy it. Infact I traded it for StarWars: Rouge Squadron 2 (not a huge fan of that game). It probably wasn\'t the most even trade ever made but I\'m happy now. I friggin\' love this game, whenever I play it , it reminds me of the older classics..You just feel.."in the zone", when you dodge incoming bullets.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons: . I know, I already mentioned buying this game, but I\'m still amazed with it. Amazed with it to the point that I am thinkin\' about goin\' and picking up a used copy of A Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, this week.
-
I almost bought Silpheed when the PS2 came out here, but so many people went on saying how crap it is. I couldn\'t believe it, since it looked just like the type of "going against all odds just for the hell of it" -game I\'d really enjoy. Guess they got to me somehow \'cause I never ended up getting the game...
I wonder if I can find it cheap somewhere... :)
-
LiC: I have LTTP if you want to "trade".. ;) ICQ #16108584.
-
Hawke, I don\'t know why everyone ragged on it like they did. I actually find it to be quite enjoyable. Its not the greatest shooter ever, but it is a nice update to the original Silpheed.
Blade: I\'m goin\' tommorw to just get a copy of a LttP, along with Mario Allstars (use to have it - gave it away along with a lot of my old snes games). I\'m still addin\' you to ICQ for the hell of it tho.
;)
-
Just got Fatal Frame last week and it rocks. Freakier game than SH2 IMO.
-
I just got Fatal Frame as well. This game is freaky! I wasn\'t expecting it to be more freaky than Silent Hill 2. I\'m already stuck in the game though! :(
-
Well, I went today and picked up my copies of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario AllStars, so I\'ll be busy on my days off.
Geeze, I buy way to many games.
-
I got 2 games while on my li\'l biking trip; Puchi Carat (with limited edition retro controller) and Freak Out (aka Stretch Panic). Yeah, I like games that derive from the mainstream crap. I\'m currently stuffing my face with pizza and resting a little bit after that little 130 km biking session I just completed.
Impressions to come...
[EDIT] Puchi Carat is a nice mixture of the ancient BreakOut-formula and Puzzle Bobble, it takes more practise than most of its ilk to get the ball fly where you want to, but seems fun enough. The controller that came bundled with the game is nice.
Freak Out is... freaky, to say the least. The basic enemy type is females with breasts the size of... hell I don\'t know anything that big and round. I kinda like it so far, different :)
-
I got MOH: Frontline and Baldur\'s Gate: Dark Alliance on the same day. MOH b/c I had to have it, and BG:DA b/c it was cheap. I love both of these games. I haven\'t made a buying mistake since Kessen, as far as I can remember...I\'ve liked everything I\'ve bought.
Guess I\'m just lucky sometimes...I read lots of reviews though.
-
Oh man, I\'m on a roll; today I went out and bought WRC. I would\'ve never bought it at full price, but it\'s already on Platinum so there. I started a championship already and I like it so far. Never owned a rally game before... I\'m currently setting up my steering wheel in front of dad\'s widescreen TV, maybe I\'ll get a little more out of it.
-
MoH: Frontline--It\'s actually pretty good but some of the AI and stuff is really cheap.
-
Hot Shots Golf 3 is pure gold. Has the highest replay value out of all my games. Rocks.
-
MOH Frontline- It\'s alright but not nearly as good as what I would have hoped.
-

Yes it is. I havent bought it.........yet.
I rented it last week and played it for over 30 hours, its a definite buy for me now. Especially with the "online" tournements.
Have you entered any of those yet Vapor?
-
Morrowind (Xbox) - I really like this game. It has some bugs that caused the Xbox to crash but still a very good game.
Stuntman - The epitome of frustration. A fun concept and, at times, a very fun game.
-
Nah, I haven\'t entered any yet, I may do it in August. I\'m just trying to get better and better.
I love this game though.
-
And another one! (and still got money to spare)
This time I bought Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva. Initial impressions are pretty damn positive, I though of making a whole thread for this baby, but... nah... :p
-
Hmmm lets see I have like 5 unopened PS2 games and am trying to decide on which to play next. My choices are Soul Reaver, Pirates, Twisted Metal Black, Kessen and... can\'t seem to remember the other one at the moment.
I have been wrapped up in WarCraft III of late and am enjoying it if that counts ;)
-
I got FFX last... and boy, this game might top my personal greatest list. I\'m not quite sure though if it will step up to FFVII (it\'s my favorite all time game) since I haven\'t finished it just yet, but just let me say that I am overwhellmed by the graphics, overal presentation, music and superb storytelling. Oh and those FMVs have got to be the best I\'ve experienced in any game up until now...
-
Oh dododangit. I got Final Fantasy X too...
And, well, I haven\'t been on the \'net, neither anywhere else away from Spira for the last 3 days.
All that negative thinking really paid off methinks, seeing how awesome the game is, I now have to declare that I think it\'s hyperawesome! I wonder if it\'ll keep me up \'til 4am again like on previous nights... ooeerr...
Hawke *heart* FFX
-
The last game I personally bought was MGS2 and really haven\'t put it down. But the last game I got was Kinetica (which was good) and Supercar Street Challenge.
Kinetica was a pretty good game but its also very easy. It actually didn\'t keep my attention for very long. I played it on an off for the past few months. The graphics are pretty well however the gameplay is quite repetitive. Same thing throughout the whole game. I have yet to finish it. I\'ll probably play it within the next few days. The music of it was pretty good. It all was futuristic and pretty well done. Definitly adding the tricks was a stong possitive point. However, there aren\'t a whole lot of tricks that you could do (either that or I don\'t know of all the tricks). This game is worth 50 dollars, however it might be less now.
Supercar Street Challenge has PS2 graphics from release. Its less than a year old. The intentions were not bad. You can make your own car and specifications. I found chosing the specs to be quite annoying. For the body you chose should have it\'s own aerodynamics. Speed should be chosen because you could always add speed to a car.....to an extent. The sound is also quite crappy. It was definitly a game that I really should have rented. I haven\'t played it since I went back to school in January. It got way too tiresome and it was literally impossible. The music was ok but they should have had a better lineup for music. Regardless of the negative points, I guess it was ok. Worth 50 bucks, probably not, a rentable or borrow game, yes.
-
I got Burnout recently, don\'t think I mentioned that here.
It\'s pretty fun and rather challenging, but once you beat it and open up a few secret cars, the replay value falls flat.
Basically, you race 3 other cars on actual roads, highways, and city blocks. The roads all have traffic and cross-traffic, and you get boost for driving close to the cars, drifting, and braving the on-coming lanes.
It\'s fast, fun, and creates the tension with serious crash consequences vs. risking for boost.
Fun, but probably best suited for an in-depth rental.

-
Latest game acquired... well... it\'s my sis\' really, but that don\'t stop me from playing the hell out of it, mwahhaha... err, oh yeah, the game I\'m talking about is Frequency. FINALLY I found it, just in time for my sis\' birthday. It\'s a mix of Bishi Bashi Special(controls)/Parappa(basic idea)/Rez(graphics) = best game purchase in quite a while. It gets ridiculously hard later on though, nuts.
-
My purchases in the past week was spyhunter ps2 version, bomberman for the game cube, and mark of Kri for the ps2.
I meant to pick up spyhunter when it was released, but I did not for whatever reason. I am sadly dissapointed I did not. It is a fairly decent game.
Bomberman on the other hand was a regrettable purchase. It is at LIC\'s house at the moment where it will probably stay for a vvvveeeeerrryyy long time. Waste of 50 bucks imho.
Mark of Kri was the great purchase of the week. This game is sweet, and everyone over the age of 18 or whatever age for a M rated game should give it a try.
-
I picked up Mark of Kri about two weeks ago. GOod game, too short though.
Just picked up Sky Gunner yesterday .. I\'m torn on this game. Parts of it are awesome, but then the slowdown starts and it just ruins the whole experience.
:(
-
My oh my. I love living in a sodding little town where people don\'t know jack**** about games and stuff.
Many games just get stuck on storeshelves, and they\'ll do anything to rid of them, and still they\'re stuck... until I waltz in. I was initially a bit freaked out to see a 3 Euro price tag on a brand spanking new Beatmania package (game + turntable/keyboard). I was offered a beat-up, squeaky, nastily mutilated BM in one electronics store a couple of days back, for 50 euros! Lucky day.
The game itself is nothing special, I consider it more of a novelty, but at 3 euros... you have any idea how little money that is? Gawd :D
-
I\'m going to go see if I can trade in Vigalante 8 2nd Offence, Trick Style, and Doom GBA for Skies of Arcadia today. If I get it.. I\'ll post my thoughts. The latest game I\'ve gotten sofar is still Headhunter.. and it\'s nothing special at all. = /
-
Skies of Arcadia is an amazing RPG, in my opinion. The battles are alittle to frequent though.
As for me, I just got Disney\'s Magical Mirror starring Mickey Mouse . Before anyone questions my sanity, let me say one thing... Capcom developed it!
;)
-
LiC: Man, that might\'ve been a horrible choice despite th\' fact that Capcom is behind it.
I\'ve heard that the game is incredibly juvenile.. it\'s easy as heck, and made for small children.
One of the few truly "kiddy" titles on GCN, IMO!

Well..Ya\' know, I knew it was by Capcom and I thought it was a platfomer..That was until I got it home and found out that it was a 9 year old\'s point and click game...

LMFAO!!!!!
EDIT: I am no longer laughing. I am being held hostage watching LIC play this game. He keeps going on about mad gaming skills. Then laughing synically. Seriously though. Somewhat. There is alot of places that ring a bell visually. The mansion looks alot like it is modeled off of resident evil? Or perhaps it is my mind commiting suicide.
:burn:
-
I beat Mickey\'s Magical Mirror and I can safely say....it isn\'t that bad. Sure, its a point and click adventure and it is easy. Its still a decent way to waste three hours.
Its worth a buy for two reasons..
1) Like Capcom mentioned, the mansion is modeled at the infamous RE mansion. No joke.
2) THere is a mini-game where Mickey goes in a fighting stance like Ryu, does fireballs and even a dragon punch. Later on, durin\' the ending credits, you can throw fireballs , dragon punches and even hurricane kick the credits.
\'Tis amazing! Mickey is trained in the same fine arts that Ryu and Ken is.
-
..it\'s worth buying for those reasons?
..and you dislike Twisted Metal: Black.. *shakes head*
;)
-
Just bought the used Half-Life for PS2..
I find it very boring and almost too easy.. I got it used for $10 so it doesn\'t matter. The multiplayer is lame and makes me want to kill it.

Did I mention, it\'s Capcom?
;)
-
Warcraft III (PC) - Don\'t play it. No surprise though, I\'m not a fan and only bought it for my older brother to enjoy. He swears by it.
Duke Nukem Advance & Doom (GBA) - Both awesome, play both daily, though Duke Nukem more for now.
-
the latest game i got was GTA III, its getting abit boring now as the missions get harder and im only on mission 41 of 73!!!!=]
-
Pocket Fighter for the Psone . It is a somewhat obsecure fighting game by Capcom (whatta surprise, I bought a Capcom game) that features Street Fighter / Dark Stalker characters from Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (see: short bodies, oversized heads, small arms). It\'s a cute little game. Not overly deep, but still has some depth to it. I wouldn\'t mind see\'ing a sequel.
-
Okay, I got 3 new games a few days ago..
Halo - Good game so far. It plays much better with 2 players in co-op. So far, prolly 9/10.. but it\'s getting better.
GUN-VALKYRIE - Solid game. A bit tough to control at first, but I\'m learning. Quite fun. 8.5/10 so far!
Jet Set Radio Future - Haven\'t played it.. but my brother has. This game looks great from the 30 minutes I\'ve watched \'im play it. I\'d call it another 8.5/10 game from what I\'ve seen, but it might get better near the end.
-
I just got Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix. I\'m telling you all, don\'t buy it unless you like to get bored and annoyed. God, it sucks!
:snore:
-
Madden 2003 and if fares OK, the AI still cheats big time, but the online feature is a big +
-
The last game I bought was Agressive Inline. Only played it twice. VF4 has swallowed every game I\'ve bought/rented since I\'ve gotten it.
-
Bought Red Faction (Platinum) ~ Although I had already finished it when my brother bought it ages ago, it was only $50AUS so I had to give it a go (and I wanted some FPS lovin\' before TS2 and RF2 came out) and I love it. I still think the ONLY real problem with the game is that its far too stop/starty. Saving takes too long (no autosave or checkpoint system ala Halo) Loading takes too long, loading between areas too long, and you die often so.. loading is a bitch and it really interrupts the extremely Half-Lifey type gameplay. Still, I love it and it\'s probably still my favorite FPS this generation so far. 88/100
Onimusha ~ $50AUS. I was going to buy Genma Onimusha, but I was strapped for cash and this thing was half the price of GO. So i got it.. and did NOT stop playing until I finished. Fabulous game (in the GAYEST sense of the word!!! FABULOUS!!!) Great game, and I went and pre-ordered Onimusha 2 already. 94/100
Hunter: The Reckoning ~ bought it, hated it. HATED. I went to take it back, but it started raining so I gave it another go. HATED IT. (Didnt play it enough to give it a good rating) Ugh, took it back and bought..
Devil May Cry ~ I can NOT believe I never bought this game before. FABULOUS. Great game, Capcoms best game since the original RE. I used to hate it because the yellow orbs always ran out on me. But now I\'m good, so it\'s not so bad :) 96/100
TimeSplitters 2 Demo ~ Didn\'t buy it, but the guys at the store like me and gave it too me. Utterly awesome, and it\'s going to be THE best FPS this gen (up to this point). All the goodness of goldeneye in this baby, then UPPED a notch. Can\'t wait.
-
Oh, just gotta add. I bought Monkey Ball too. Liked it, particularly the multiplayer. But I\'ve just got too many quirky multiplayer games, and the single player is FRUSTRATING as hell. It\'s just like Marble Madness, only faster.. and with a shitty camera (I loved Marble Madness). So I took it back.. and got Hunter.. :)
-
If you think the original Monkey Ball\'s single player is frustrating, than you should stay far away from Monkey Ball 2, as it is almost ten times as hard. I swear, some of the levels approach damn near impossible.
Anyways..Latest purchases..
1) Super Mario Sunshine . I am personally not enjoying this game. It just doesn\'t seem to have that level of polish most Nintendo games have.
2) Onimusha 2 . Lovin\' it so far, \'cept for the dreadful voice acting.
My next purchase will be Super Monkey Ball 2 , I\'m just waiting to beat Onimusha 2 first.
-
Super Mario Sunshine now owns my soul. For now at least.
-
I haven\'t bought a game since sometime around march. :(
-
I just bought:
Grandia II (PS2) - Enjoying quite nicley :D
Warcraft III (PC) - *insert Orgasim here* ;)
Dark Cloud (PS2) - I enjoy this one allot to, repetative a bit, but still good, cant wait for Dark cloud 2 :D
My next purchase will be the Network Adapter. But i still cant decide what game SOCOM or Madden, I hear SOCOM is having server problems... :(
-
socom HAD server problems
-
Very nice. I picked up Dark Cloud, Grandia II, and Warcraft 3 within the past 2 months or so as well. I\'m not a WC fan, I only got that for my bro. Dark Cloud got very old, very fast, I\'m awaiting Grandia Xtreme instead for a dungeon hack. The DC version of Grandia II is better than the one we have, but since I don\'t have a DC, I bought this one not too long ago and have been enjoying it thoroughly since then! Have fun!
-
I actually a few weeks ago bought Red Faction. I\'ll include a review here as soon as I finish writing it.
-
I bought Grandia 2 a while ago as well. Great battle system, but the story just doesnt interest me (so far) :( So I haven\'t been able to get into it. However I\'ll give it another try soon enough
Plus, the PAL version of it improved on the framerate problems :)
Just bought Wipeout Fusion today, played 3 races, and I kind of like it. Not as good as the first two wipeouts tho (although.. I have only played 3 races :))
-
WipEout Fusion is fun. It\'s just too easy. I was able to beat the arcade mode in 3 days...all 42 (I think) tracks. And the most difficult tracks, or so it said, I beat on the first try. That and it has just a few slowdown problems, very rare though.
-
I was thinking about buying Turok Evolution (XBox version).. but I heard bad thing from everyone but fans of the original. So didn\'t.
My XBox remains a dust collector :( *wants Unreal Championship now*
-
Damn you Bobbo, you made me buy Onimusha. I gotta reorganize my game shelf, it can\'t fit in any more games, argh! :p
I was kinda glad to see it out on Platinum, was only 25 euros, might even be worth it, seems nice so far. I\'m facing the first boss now and he made beef outta my ass. (mainly because I got a bit bored and wanted to quit)
So far :
- Voice acting sucks
- Amazing FMV (no wonder it got all those awards)
- Rather pretty, but so far the backgrounds have been disappointingly static
- Awfully clunky gameplay after a hundred hours of DMC, but still waywayWAY better than any RE crap
- I think I\'ll like \'em trick boxes (puzzlefan)
My next purchase was supposed to be Project Zero, but since it\'s nowhere to be found and I got Onimusha, that\'ll just have to wait a bit... ... ... riiight, the moment I see it in a store I\'m gonna snatch a copy for myself, goddang this gamer soul.
-
You just need to use the down button a lot to beat that boss :) He\'s very easy.
What\'s wrong with those trick boxes? Just because they are so easy?
-
I could\'ve whooped his ass easily, but as I said, I wanted to do something else for a change... something more exciting. Which ended up being PLAYING MR*DRILLER! DRILL DRILL DRILL LIKE YOU\'VE NEVER DRILLED BEFORE! And nothing\'s wrong with the trick boxes, I like \'em, me love puzzle, I just hope they get a LOT harder later on... :)
-
Here is my list of game purchased in the past week or so.
1. Super Mario Sunshine. I was disappointed by this, but oh well to each his own. Btw I just beat it tonight, and felt some of the later levels are there just to annoy.
2. Super Monkey Ball 2. Very good game, albeit somewhat sadistic to play. Thank Goodness they gave unlimited lives in story mode.
3. Onimusha 2. I am about halfway through this. "I think" I enjoyed the first, and so far I do this one also. If nothing else the cg is incredible.
4. The Thing. I played this for a bit, and was impressed with voice acting, but I gave up before I saw my first thing. I sort of lost the landing site. I will try this one when I am not as tired as I have been all week with work.
-
No they don\'t :D A little trickier, but you\'ll get them on your first (or second) go every time.
I forgot you didn\'t like Resident Evil\'s gameplay :(
-
Apparently when Console Debating was moved over here, a lot of our previous threads was deleted , espically one of the beloved "Your latest Game Purchases" (by Hawke, I believe). So, here it is, part 2...As a "sticky" none the less.
My latest purchases have been.
Mario Sunshine - Don\'t care for it in the least.
Super Monkey Ball 2 - It has just costed me a controller.
Onimusha 2 - First half of the game is awesome, second half falls apart.
Frequency - I stayed away from this game nutil Capcom picked it up. Played it at his house and since have bought it. Lovin\' it.
-
All the games suck, now...
So I recently whipped out Grandia 2 on the ol\' DC and am starting up a new game of Shenmue 2...
Still better than 95% of the crap on all 3 consoles...
Makes me wonder how the DC ever died...
-
Onimusha 2 - Not far into it, enjoying it thus far. Glad to see more depth and some RPG elements added.
Madden 2003 - undeniably best football game ever.
-
Now that you mention Grandia 2, I am thinkin\' of starting up a game of it, if I can find it in this messy room.
Oh, I forgot.. I also picked up...
Super Pocket Fighter.
Capcom fighters , deformed with extremely cute and weird animations. Classic game, if not somewhat weird.
-
Turok - it sucked
Armored Core 3 - get it tomorrow
-
madden- good shit
silent hill 2 - scary shit
-
Recent purchases:
Legend of Dragoon
Resident Evil: Survivor
FF 8 (had to buy it again, my copy broke)
The Thing
Lunar 2
Arc the Lad collection
Onimusha 2
Darkstone
and about a month ago i ordered Persona 2 directly from Atlus, and it finally came in today! I also got a cool japanese tote bag of some sort for free. Needless to say, I\'m pretty busy. :)
-
omg, I haven\'t bought a game since Grand Theft Auto 3 first came out! BUT, I will be most likely getting Tekken 4 and the new WWE game..
-
Mafia! BF1942! Madden! SoCOM! UT2003 and NOLF2 to come. I am loving myself now.

Toca race driver.
I am actually enjoying this game, the playability is very challenging (not much room for error), slipstreaming of other cars plays a major part. Also story/career mode is fairly unique.
Only negative point is the graphics are quite jaggy. The graphics did have a lot to live up to with the quality of GT3, but nothing has matched that so for yet. Also has occasional slowdown, but very rare this happens.
-
Just this past week picked up GCN, wavebird, eternal darkness, mario sunshine,Star wars rogue leader 2 and tekken tag.So far the star wars game is killer.:)
-
I just bought Jak and Daxter and I think it\'s a fun game. However, it\'s too short and, IMO, does not deserve it\'s $50 price tag. It\'s on top of my television collecting dust.
-
Animal Crossing
Shenmue 2
Haven\'t tried either - as I just got home, but I\'ll be back later with impressions.

HA!...it just went down to 20$. I just bought it recently...I was waiting for the price drop.
I enjoyed the game when I rented it, but didn\'t have time to find everything and beat. Being that it was so easy and quick, I also felt it wasn\'t worth 50$.
I see it as one of those games that I go through multiple times, like Mario World. It was really enjoyable...Gol and Maya\'s Citadel was probably my favorite stage.
I\'m getting Kingdom Hearts next!

Kingdom Hearts-
I\'m usually not very big on hack n\' slash adventures, in fact I have no interest in them. Be it the tedious gameplay or usual drab story, I just can\'t get into them.
I was reluctant to pick this game up, however I wanted to see what all this fuss was about. That and it\'s made by two of my favorite companies. Square undoubtely has a knack for creating great stories, lush worlds, and likeable characters...now couple that with a disney flavor and you have a special game.
If you\'ve ever been, or still are, a disney fan...you\'ll be reminded or taken back to that same feeling right from the opening movie. I had a big grin on my face from the get go and it hasn\'t gone away yet.
The game screams quality. The FMV is among the best I\'ve seen this generation, and directed equally as astounding. I\'ll say it again...Square is unrivaled in this department. The ingame graphics are nice, nothing spectacular, but good. What does set it apart is none other than the classic Disney look...you\'ll see it through out, and it shines. (However, I must warn those that don\'t like Disney. You\'ll want to stay far clear of this game. It even made me cringe to hear Donald Duck)
That brings me to the voice overs. Easily the best voice acting in any game. The ingame movies, while beautiful, are above average for the characters\' expressions and most of all the voice overs. Each character I\'ve encountered so far in the first 2 hours...alot...is perfect. I\'ll also hit on sound a little here...typical Square fashion. Reminded me alot of FFX actually.
You can tell alot of care and attention went into the game...but perhaps not everywhere.
Let me explain...the camera is an issue. You\'ll be manually moving it around ALOT despite having it set on auto. It makes jumping and completing some tasks seem like a chore...a problem that could have been easily avoided, IMO.
Not only that, but the hack n\' slash almost happens too often. I believe that a happy medium could be met, they went a little over board. However, I have a feeling I know why and maybe it lightens up. (It has to do with the story)
These are my initial impressions of the game, and like most games I play...my opinion changes.
-
I bought Tekken 4 last week, it\'s a really good game and I felt at home playing it, I\'ll own you all with Bryan and Steve. Also got a load of PC games after I bought my new GFX chip, I got RTCW, Warcraft 3, MOH:AA and a few others.

Yes I did.
And now I own Soldier of Fortune 2 (...average at best) and Tekken 4, fantastic. Between this and Virtua Fighter 4. I\'m in fighting game heaven :)
-
I had this really weird feeling last friday... that I just HAD to buy a game. I went around town for a couple of hours, and the final round was between Project Zero and Tekken 4.
I bought T4... :(
And I like it! I\'d be amazed if I didn\'t, I\'ve always been a Tekken nut. I also got 20 euros off the original price tag using my exemplary puppydog-look, whoopee.
I still feel a bit silly for not getting PZ... but... aww I just wanna win the lottery so I can buy all the games I like!
-
I bought Project Zero and took it back two days later.
Crap. It had atmosphere but was just so tedious, and... un-fun.
:)
-
Animal Crossing - Great game so far. You can play it anyway you like. My friend plays his as a nice neighbor. I play mine as a mobster type, who cuts tree\'s down.
Shenmue 2 - Godly. Owns all other games mentioned in this thread.
-
Just bought CastleVania: HoD.
Great game so far. God bless 2D.
-
I bought street Hoops a month ago. I needed a basketball fix so I decided to get it.
Well wouldn\'t recommend it to my worst enemy the game just sucks.
-
I bought...
Animal Crossing - great, unique, neverending, worth the buy
Kingdom Hearts - by far squares most under-rated title, haven\'t gotten into it enough to consider it a buy...
-
Robotech Battlecry (PS2)
If you love Macross, you\'ll love this game... but it does get plenty repetative after awhile.
I dig it; but heck, I liked Macross:VFX for PS1, and that game was shite :D
-
WWE RAW on XBox...
might have been good, if the damn thing wasn\'t in slow motion. Going back tommorrow /methinks

Well, I\'ve gotten back into writing for game sites after about a summer long hiatus. I currently write for here (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/) and here (http://www.intensity-magazine.com).
For Nintendo.gamingtarget, I write only GBA and GCN stuff including previews and review and for I-M, I write for just about every other console. In fact, I write something new for each site per week either through reviews or previews. Since I don\'t want this being a self promotion post, I\'m going to list the games I reviewed here for you all to read up on. Just click the title to go to the full review.
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/69) - Actually an amazing game with a few technical flaws.
Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/features/16) - Something no MGS2 fan or fan of the videogame creative process should be without. Especially for only 20 bucks.
Dead to Rights (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/62) - hoo boy. It\'s OKAY, but that\'s as far as I\'ll go.
SOCOM: US Navy SEALs (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/61) - Pretty damn good for Sony\'s flagship online title.
That\'s all the recent reviews I have done. This week on Gamingtarget will be my first review posted of the Scorpion King Rise of the Akkadian and next week you will see a review of Yoshi\'s Island on the GBA. This week, I-M will get a review for Sega Soccer Slam on the Xbox. It may even be done by tomorrow. :)
-
Just bought Sega\'s Gun Grave . I\'ve read it\'s pretty short and I can believe it, but I must say one thing. This game has the most gorgeous anime cinema\'s. Character design is top notch ,etc.
As for actual gameplay .. Well, it looks to be rather simplisitic. Continue shooting, dive & dodge incoming bullets, continue shooting. Just a classic get up and go bullet frenzy. I\'m diggin\' it so far.

Gun Grave - I was interested so I bought it myself. Took it back in 48 hours to receive an 18 dollar store credit  I took it back not because I didn\'t like it, but because I had finished it and I really see no replay value in it either. No new weapons, no new enemies (unless you count bosses) and just too repetitive. Don\'t get me wrong its a cool anime sort of game, but Sega could have done more with it. It is way too short!!!!! The Gun Dance is cool, but even that gets old. This is renter all the way if only because it has no longevity.
-
Finally finished my Sega Soccer Slam review for the Xbox. One of the best multiplayer games I have ever played.
Sega Soccer Slam review (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/70)
Enjoy!
-
TEkken 4 and i love it..................tekken 4 rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I just went to the store and got some good deals on PSone games.
CAPCOMvsSNK PRO - I love it. I never really got into the vs. series until now. I already have every character... I\'m so special....
-
AH! My first review for Gamingtarget.com is finally up! Next week I\'ll be posting a review for Yoshi\'s Island as well! You can all read it here, or not because the game just wasn\'t all that good...
The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=41)
Enjoy!

Actually i got a discount on the force feedback wheel for ps2 and playing it w/ gt3 is a riot. I hope in the future more games become compatible w/ it. Other than that ive been buying old favorites, fear effect 1&2 (awesome!), Ico (short but i always seem to come back for the emersiveness :D ), The bouncer (i got it for cheap and i love it a lot, i know i must be the only one but screw that i have a lotta fun w/ it!). Ooooh yeah. Wipeout Fusion. At first its kinda easy because the focus on speed has been removed for wepons. The game has a lot of modes and when u get further the fun really begins. Damn was it fast! The only complaints i have are about the slowdown that happens when theres too much going on at once and the weaker airbrakes. While the computer opponents can be cheap sometimes the game always gives u the opportunity to pay them back. Overall: Pretty damn good.
-
I finally got WipEout Fusion... I\'ll write later on how I like it.
[EDIT] I wonder if I should\'ve gotten Extreme G3 instead... bah, I haven\'t even played much yet, a couple measly hours, but
+
• Eyyeeerrraarrrlikeyaknow... it\'s WipEout?
-
• Frame rate drops too often
• Horrible shimmeries
• Stupid physics (when compared to the fabulous feel of 2097)
• Stupid new pitstops
• YOU LOSE ENERGY FROM RAILING! (it was just SO nice in wo2097 when you could just glide through the tracks at mad speeds, hugging the walls with sparks flying... ahh...)
So, in conclusion. Err... *goes back to wo2097* :p
-
WipeoutFusion bites the big one - or so I think.
:(
-
Its been mostly PC as of late and all rock.
BF1942.....mp bliss
UT2003.....same
NOLF2.......Better than the first
Hitman2....same
Kingdom Hearts.......this game really captured me.

Well, here I go with yet another review! Yay for me! It\'s a Mario title that is actually worth your money. *cough*notmariosunshine*cough*
Yoshi\'s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=138)
-
Warcraft 3 - Good game, disappointing tho. Better than WC2, not as good as the brilliant Warcraft
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun - Another good game, not as good as the brilliant Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Very good game, better than Red Alert, still not as good as C&C tho.
Emporer: The Battle for Dune - Seeing as Dune 2 is my all time favorite RTS game (followed by Warcraft and Command & Conquer) this game had a tough name to live up to, but it\'s turned out to be fantastic. Definately the best out of the aforementioned games.
Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix - :crap:
Baldur\'s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - I just have too many games to play right now, and havent really gotten around to playing too much of it. Seems fun tho :)
-
Got Blinx today...returning it tomorrow:)
Seriously, I think the ex-members of the Sonic Team were kicked out and they focused all their bad talent into one game.
One hit kills, crystals don\'t come back, blinx is so slow (might as well have been a turtle), 10 minute time limit, time control feature feels tacked on for some events.
I was kind of having fun with it until world 3...getting to the end and dying...then having to do the entire stage over again. I don\'t need this.
There is a fine line between challenging and frustrating...learn it Artoon.
I have a huge rant just building up as I type this about MS.
-
Burnout 2 - Best arcade racing game I\'ve ever played. Has the best racing game graphics I\'ve ever seen. Smoothest framerate ever. Nice handling, great crashes. Mmmmm, soooo nice. Only small flaws are that there are only 2 camera positions (p.o.v. and behind the car). There needs to be a 3rd, behind the car but sitting up slightly, so you can see ahead of you easier. And that sometimes only a slight touch will stop your car in your tracks.
Other than that, great game.
Onimusha 2. I only just started playing it, seems like it\'ll be tremendous fun, as was the case with the original IMO :)
-
I bought MLB slugfest a little while ago. I didnt really know what to expect when i bought it. I had an XBOX before trading it in for my ps2 and i had ALL-STAR BASEBALL for X and i didnt like it...
MLB SLUGFEST is good, gameplay is awsome and graphics are good, the same as in any other midway game...If i had to choose it over though I would have probbaly looked for a more realistic looking baseball game..
-
Import Saturn.
CyberBots
EarthWorm Jim 2
Panzer Dragoon
Neon Envaglion
uh...a couple japanese games I can\'t read.
:(
-
w00t - Finally got some new games. er.. sorta.
Star Wars: Rebel Assault - SegaCD
It sucks ass.. what a waste of 5 bucks. I barely got past the Canyon run and had to take the disk out. Controls are unresponsive, image is overly grainy and hard to make out targets.. and you\'re ship is extreemly feeble. I\'ll wait till I get further in the game to make a -FINAL- jugement.. but my first impressions say that it\'s crap. Pitty.. the movies at the beginning seemed to convey quality. *Shrugs*
Sewer Shark - Sega CD
Heh, despite LIC\'s reaction.. I kinda dig Sewer Shark. Even made me laugh a bit when Ghosty is tellin me to "Get down there and give him a few thousand pounds of Tube Steak" :D Controls are pretty simple, although I haven\'t quite gotten the hang of navigating the tunnels yet. (Would probly help if I read the manual tho) So far it\'s just been pure simple fun blasting infrared images of critters while "shootin the tubes". Cinematics were also nice, though that doesn\'t really count for much.
On the 30th of next month I\'m gettin my NGC with StarFox Adventures, Resident Evil: Remake, and PSO Ep 1 & 2.
-
Oh my god..Sewer Shark?!?
*blocks memories!*
EVILLLLLLLLL!
-
Nice thread....
I recently tried out Blinx. Don\'t go in thinking you\'ll be playing a platform game. Everyone\'s gripes with it are based on the disappointment of a time limit, and puzzle solving.
The game is a strategy/puzzle game. Having said that, it does an okay job. The time feature comes into play on a small scale starting out, but as you progress you\'ll start using it alot more. It\'s got some pretty neat effects...like using the rewind to go up a waterfall.
Not for everyone.
-
Moto GP (X BOX): The best MotoGP racing game I have ever played. The graphics, gameplay, raining effects etc. Awesome bike game. It\'s way better than MotoGP2 for PS2 but I love that game as well. I can\'t wait for MotoGP3!!
Kingdom Hearts: I thought Square were high on Heroin when they decided to make a action RPG involving Disney characters. I was tottaly wrong. What a awesome action RPG!
Super Monkey Ball 2: God damn muther****er! Please excuse the language, but this game is super hard but it has you hooked. Graphics have been way improved. The stages are way harder! Great game.
-
I was feeling a bit sick, but anyways decided to carry a part of my extensive collection of MAD-magazines over to my new apartment. On the way there, I bought DieNasty Warriors 2. I\'ve played it a bit at SmallLady\'s a couple of times, and I pretty much enjoyed it. After trying it out earlier today, I still like it. Nothing like getting yourself into massive trouble and kicking everyone\'s ass :D
-
Sewer Shark! lol!!!!! Wow. i was younger but i kinda liked it. Talk about dusty.
-
Sonic Adventure 2: Limited Edition Birthday/Anniversary Pack. It\'s a DC import.
King of Fighter\'s 96\' with 4 Meg Ram Cart. Saturn Import.
Next on list? Guardian Hero\'s (US, Saturn) and Vampire Hunter with 4-Meg Ram Cart (Jap, Saturn).

There is my latest purchases. A Capcom fighting game auction, all import Saturn titles. WooT!
I also picked up Fighters Megamix, import.
-
For that collection LiC, I\'d have your baby. ;)
One more review went up this week for you all to read:
MLB Slugfest 20-03 (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=45) - It\'s actually pretty neat with some interesting play mechanics. Enjoy!
-
*blushes*
We could...arrange something, Ryu.
;)

I actually had forgotten just how great a lot of those saturn games are and I started looking into importing them. They actually wouldn\'t cost me much of anything in comparison to just how much games cost anyways and the fun I would have from them would be immeasureable especially since the majority of games that I would like to import for an import saturn wouldn\'t require much understanding of the Japanese language at all except for a few basics which I already had the privilidge to learn. Here is a list of the stuff that I am going to be importing or just plain asking for for Christmas:
Guardian Heroes
Silhouette Mirage
Radiant Silvergun (FAT chance)
Street Fighter Zero [PURCHASED!]
Street Fighter Zero 2 [PURCHASED!]
Street Fighter Zero 3
Vampire Savior
Vampire Hunter
X-Men Children of the Atom [PURCHASED!]
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men vs Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter
NiGHTs (domestic with controller) [PURCHASED!]
Burning Rangers (if I can find it, preferrable domestic)
Policenauts
Snatcher
Panzer Dragoon Zwei (the import of the original PD has far too much Japanese and the domestic original is far too expensive)
And of course...
Import Saturn
4-meg ram cart
1 extra Saturn pad
Speaking of all those Capcom games, I wish capcom made a home version of Aliens vs Predator. I figured of all consoles, the saturn would have it, import or otherwise, but alas, only the arcades and only on CPS2 emulators. :(
-
You can get Burning Rangers Domestic and Import pretty cheap off Ebay and I think Videogame Depot has some copies. Either way, it won\'t cost you that much.
The same for Guardian Hero\'s, expect to pay around $40 dollars for a mint domestic copy on Ebay.
I have yet to find a copy of Silhouette Mirage , but I\'m still looking...
As for Radiant Silvergun ..heh...I want it so bad, but I can\'t part with the $200 dollars everyone is asking for it.
-
I just got Nba live 2003 and it\'s might be the best one yet. The only thing I hate is using the anolog to controll the players.
-
Timesplitters 2
got it on Friday and have been playing near enough non-stop since then
(Completed 66% and opend up all the Arcade and challange modes ...working through the remainder of the story modes (medium / hard)
Still to unlock the final 2 arcade map\'s
Also trying to unlock every PC for Multiplayer madness
- Fav PC = ILSa Nadir (fast and deadly with a good armour stat.)
- 2nd Fav PC = Cyberfairy
- Fav Gun = SBP90 or twin tommy Gun\'s
- Fav Story mode = Robot Factory
- Fav Arcade map = Hospital
- Fav Arcade mode = Gladiator (on the Hospital map)
Can\'t wait till Friday night when i can have a 4 player frag fest
-
I bought Alien: Resurrection (PSX) today. The crappy graphics don\'t do much to derive from the fun (er, fear), but the controls are a bit shoddy with a pad. Enjoying it anyways :)
-
Here are my latest two purchases..
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Febay3.ipixmedia.com%2Fabc%2FM28%2F_EBAY_13ade9b038655ce3e0b6078c782e46db%2Fi-1.JPG&hash=9d5e91ca494121a71cb30ded1c6cdd39dc378238)
Ikaruga, for the Dreamcast.
Thanks to Ryu, for the link to the auction for this game...
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Febay3.ipixmedia.com%2Fabc%2FM28%2F_EBAY_2606ed820c2b8e381d36a629b73ec1fb%2Fi-1.JPG&hash=3ecea04d2e7e81d5821b4604b8384e2944998c82)
Pocket Fighter, JP Saturn.
I already own the US PSone version, but being the Capcom whore I am, I couldn\'t pass up owning another copy of this gem...
edit I found out Pocket Fighter also has an option to support the 4-meg cart adding more frames of animation than the PSone version. Sweet!
Glory days, glory days!
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Febay0.ipixmedia.com%2Fabc%2FM28%2F_EBAY_8c89afeb1e5400c763cc526e45bfcc77%2Fi-1.JPG&hash=919be5ad2796e2a5f94807bce5f8f4464065329d)
Metal Slug, JP Saturn.
\'Nuff said.

Dang...
A v P by Capcom is one of the my all time faves...
Where can I get it???
-
Hmmmm, I could make quite a bit of money, seeing I have many items on you people\'s wish lists...
-
Aliens Vs Predator was not on any console, not the capcom version anyways. You can get ahold of the rom and play it with final burn on your PC. It\'s ripped from the arcade version so it\'s perfect. Anyways, good luck with that. As for you making money off of us... well, if you can beat the prices i\'ve been getting this stuff for, then we can start dealing. ;)
-
Ryu, beat me to it. You price it and we\'re interested.
:D
-
Just bought Contra: Shattered Soliders, will post an impression of it soon...Let me say this tho\', wusses need not apply.
-
Damn.. :(
-
Mario Party 4 for GCN.
Great in multiplayer (as always) but not recommended for single-player. Got friends? Get Mario Party!
-
Alright, I\'m late gettin here tonight because I\'ve been busy with real-life stuff.. but mostly by trying out my new toys. As ya probly already know, I got my NGC today.. color purple. With it I got a game and the 56k Analog modem. PSO Ep 1 & 2 is on pre-order for the 30th of this month, with no idea when a keyboard is going to be available for it. Here\'s my impressions on the software I bought today..
Super Mario Sunshine:
Ok, first off.. I didn\'t choose this.. it was part of a pack-in deal and the only one they had left. I probably would have picked it up eventually anyhow since what is a Nintnedo console without Mario? That\'s like buying a Sega console and not getting at least ONE Sonic game. It just ain\'t right. It was the first game I played upon hooking it all up.
Right off the bat I gotta say I\'m very impressed with the graphics for it. Everything that should be round.. is round.. without barely a hint of polygonal edges or aliasing. The colors are vivid and bright.. not quite to my liking.. but enough to impress. There really isn\'t much to comment on about the control.. it\'s just Super Mario 64 with the addition of the waterpack... which isn\'t a bad thing since Mario64\'s controls are superb IMO. My only complaint is that they were a juuuust a bit sloppy.. but no more. Control is tight and very precise in SMS. About the only thing more I could wish for in this game is a better camera... and perhaps actually being able to SEE the sewers you\'re in when you go "underground" in the town.
Resident Evil: Remake
I got this title simply for eyecandy and it\'s similarities to the Adventure Genre. I have to say tho.. I almost regret my decision. While looking bar-none the best out of any game I\'ve played.. I can\'t shake this feeling of "Been Here, Done That" which is really distracting. All of the new areas, dialouge, and scenarios that Capcom put in cannot change this.. and I feel as tho I\'m just playing the PSX version... expecially when it comes to control.
Jill & Chris are SLUGGISH... this was frustraiting as I managed to get killed by the first Zombie I saw 3 times because I simply couldn\'t move fast enough with the knife. A welcome compensation to this is the Defensive Items.. the Tazer and Dagger which both look awesome when used. I would like to be able to pick up used daggers after killing an enemy tho.. seems the only way to get em back is to take their heads off with a shotgun.
Speaking of Daggers and improvements... why in gods name didn\'t Capcom stick with the "Code Veronica" style combat knife??? Zombie defenses have been seriously beefed up.. and yet you can still only get in 1 hit on a slice? Ugh.. thanks for ruining that weapon again Cap. = /
Overall tho, it\'s an enjoyable title. I jus can\'t shake the feeling that I should have only payed 20 bucks for it rather than the full 45.
NBA Jam: For the Genesis.
Heh.. found this in the bargain bin for a dollar and decided to pick it up. You all remember it.. no explanation needed. I only wish they would have had tournament edition instead.

Street Fighter Zero 3 - Jp, Saturn.
I have to give many thanks to Ryu on this one, as he came across it and sold it to me.
*gives Ryu a big sloppy kiss*
And Sonyfan, I thought you was getting SF:Adventure\'s? If you want eyecandy, that\'s the way to go..
-
They didn\'t have it in stock, but they promised it\'d be in by the time I got my next paycheck and they\'d hold a copy back for me. Sides, RE:Remake was only 20 bucks used and even if they did have it in stock I wouldn\'t have been able to afford both it AND PSO Ep 1 & 2 this week.. along with everything else I got... and still need to get by the 30th.
I gotta say.. I\'m a little worried about the availablitiy of a Keyboard come this Wensday. PSO almost DEMANDS the use of a KB and so far Nintnedo hasn\'t released any dates as to when they\'re going to release theirs. ASCII has one that\'s already out but has no plans to bring it to the US anytime soon. I could save quite a bit of money if I could just find a DC to NGC controller converter.. or better yet.. a PS/2 Keyboard to NGC converter. Unfortunately I haven\'t found any yet as even Lik-Sang doesn\'t have em. Even if they did.. it\'s just my luck that Sony, MS, and Nintnedo are suing them so as of now you can\'t order from them. :(
I\'m gonna be pissed if I have to slice open a perfectly good KB and NGC pad and splice them together myself. Hopefully even tho Sega has no plans to make a KB, they\'ve got a healthy backlog of those Nintnedo Keyboards which they\'ll package in along with the game.
Yeah... right...
-
Here are my games for the week that I have bought.
1. Jet Set Radio Future for the XBOX. I found this game ok. It feels a little open ended, and I tend to get lost in it very easily. To tell the truth if it were not for the music I would hate it.
2. Sega GT 2002 for the XBOX. Any game that has damage, but you can\'t see it should never have been made.
3. BloodRayne for the XBOX. It has a vampire as the lead character. That alone makes it worth a purchase. I am a few levels in, and my biggest complaint is the control scheme. Anytime you need to use both analogs in a 3rd person game somthing has gone horribly wrong. Also the boss battles are BS to the extreme.
4. DOA3. It is damn pretty. Yeah that\'s about it. It is toooooo easy to counter. Also why change the perspective at the final battle? The blur-a-vision also kills me in that battle.
A couple of purchases in the past few weeks I have not seen mentioned here.
1.Robotech Battlecry for the ps2. I played it until I realized my mech could not fly above buildings. So I played it about 5 minutes. 10 bucks a minute. I wish I could get paid that at work.
2.Superman somthing for the ps2. I can see what they were trying. It is a nice looking cel shaded game, but it still feels overly-generic. I think a gta type mission scheme would have worked better.
I bought quite a few more, but don\'t feel like posting anymore impressions. Overall every game for every console I have bought in months has disappointed me.
-
If you\'re sick of mediocrity Capcom, then you should buy Ikaruga or go to LiC\'s and play it when he recieves it. Play it two players, whatever. It just rocks. :)

Ryu I think I might just do that. Every game I get anymore just ticks me off. I am missing the good old days when all you had to worry about was a guy off screen shooting you that just so happened to respawn.
I have been attempting to play JSRF, and the rail system is ticking me off. Where you don\'t want to grab the rail it is a 100% chance you will hit it. If it would be nice to hit the rail. It just so happens to miss. I wish they would have put in a dismount rail button. This would have helped a great deal since it is a pain to turn around on the rails.
ARGH STUPID 3D GAMES!!!!!!!

I reviewed Bomberman Generations for GamingTarget despite it being slightly old. Hey, a review is a review and it\'s better late then never. Besides, it fills up their archive. Expect a Contra Shattered Soldier review today or tomorrow and a Spyro 2 Season of Fire 2 review later today.
Bomberman Generations Review (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=49)
I also got NiGHTS in the mail along with the 3D saturn controller, Vice City, and Guardian Heroes import as well. I have yet to play the two Saturn games (no system as of yet), but soon I shall. Burnout 2 is on its way along with Godzilla Generations. Expect reviews from those very soon and all my Saturn games (impressions anyways) when I finally get the crown piece of my collection. :)
-
You won\'t have time to put up a review once you get into Guardian Heroes...
-
I recieved three new games in the mail today, two of which will see immediate review in about a week or so. The first of which is Burnout 2 for the Playstation 2 and the second is Rayman Arena also for the Playstation 2. The third game is X-Men vs Street Fighter for the Sega Saturn. I need to leave some positive feedback to that EBay seller since the game is in GREAT condition. So far, things are coming along.
As for today, you can read my Spyro 2: Season of Fire review at gamingtarget.com. Enjoy!

Kingdom Hearts
I had high expectations for this game. FF characters from the previous FF games? No way I\'ll miss this.
It turns out the FF characters have VERY brief parts in the game.
So I played the game for 10 hours and then let it collect dust for the last month or so
-
Shenmue II, Xbox.
It\'s good. None of that "wow" factor that the first game had, but it\'s still rather entertaining so far.
I\'m up to the point where you have to set up the tea cups.
-
Today I recieved two more Saturn games in the mail: Street Fighter Zero and X-Men Children of the Atom. Both of them were in pristine condition. I love Japanese artwork. :) I also reviewed Contra Shattered Soldier. For those of you who care, the link is below.

Enjoy!

PSO Episode I & II
I was supposed to pick this title up the 30th at McVans.. but those plans kinda changed. I\'d actually made two trips into Ft. Wayne on the 28th and 29th to see if I could pick it up a bit early. On Segas site they list WalMart and Best Buy as being priority retail outlets.. however as the 30th came and went neither of these two stores had their shipments in and couldn\'t tell me when to expect it. McVans told me to come back in a week. After a bit of net searching, I find out that GameStop and Babbage inked exclusive deals with Sega at the last minuite to be the sole distributers of PSO for the NGC for a short time. Being on second shift and expecting games to be displayed at midnight (well after the mall closes) I\'d missed out on it\'s launch by two days. Oh well.. I went in yesterday and got my copy.
First off, it seems quite a bit has changed. The game is no longer registered to your game unit, but instead your Seriel # and Access Key are permenantly tied to a password you give them. It might seem a bit inconvieniet at first to have to remember yet ANOTHER password.. but thanks to this friends can exchange characters and even play offline together on the same console.
I immediately went through all the different classes and races and checked them out to see all the new outfits. Everyone has something new.. but generally the additions are pretty weak except when it comes to Androids who\'ve always got the short end of the customization stick. While they don\'t have any new heads which would have been nice.. they now boast far more costumes than anyone else.. nearly 30 total.
I created all my base characters which are listed in my sig.. Tesla, Mana, and Sinue.. and since each memory card can hold 4 characters I created an extra one with the new RAmarl class who I\'ve yet to really play extensively. Since Tesla was my first and primary char on the DC version, I\'ve decided to make him primary on this version as well. As of right now, he\'s the only one who\'s above lvl 2.
I first tried to take on Episode II to see all the new goodies.. but I couldn\'t really get past Pioneer 2 as the first two missions you play are not NGC exclusive levels, but rather jus expanded maps from DC v.2 Battle mode. I really hope these two aren\'t included in the "4 new areas" people talk about. The first two missions are VR "tests" and thus include a hodgepodge of all the monsters from v.1 DC.. making it very difficult to advance without having a few levels under your belt.
So I started off playing through Episode I Normal mode in it\'s entirety. As mentioned elsewhere, it is exactly the same as v.2 for the DC with only a very few minor changes... mainly graphically. Spell effects look a bit different, and the water on the floor actually ripples around your feet and shimmers. I didn\'t even notice this until my second run through the caves. Characters now also cast a full shadow instead of just a round dark spot. All in all, I still prefer the Dreamcast\'s Episode I graphics as the NGC version seems to be blurred and excessively dark.
Gameplay wise, quite a bit has changed. Not all non-android races can learn all the techs. While Forces call still possess them all, other classes have certain restrictions. My HUmar for example can\'t learn Reverser or Shifta & Deban. I will sorely miss those two spells.. but it should make cooperative play all the more inter-dependant and increase the likely hood of people playing together rather than just playin while being in the same room. Item drop rates seem to have been increased as well... only 8 hours into the game and I\'ve found my first rare item - a useless YellowBarrier. Still, a rare none-the-less. Also, I notice that "out of the way" items tend to be less random and more beneficial. No longer do you traverse half a map out of your way to get to a block of boxes only to harvest one monomate. Instead, you\'ll usually find weps harder to find weps and spells.. usually with good lvls or photon effeciency. If nothing else, it makes for good items to sell compaired to the rest of the stuff you\'ll find.
Also, on a side note: I think this is a bug, but for some reason non-android characters can "short circuit".. which is the robot version of parylization comming from electrical shock since they\'re not effected by most status attacks such as poison or parylization.
As for what little I\'ve seen of the new exclusive Episode 2 areas.. mainly just "The Lab" on Pioneer 2.. it looks much much better than the DC version with many NGC specific effects. The city is also much larger and contains teirs and alleyways on which different places like the hospital and item shops are located. Looks very nice, and should lend well to a more "expansive" feel to the game.
I have not seen the new NGC server lobbies however, as I haven\'t been able to get online yet. PSO Ep I & II comes with a 1 free month trial.. but due to it\'s subscription basis I\'ve yet to find anyone who\'s willing to let my use their Credit or Debit card to redeem that first month while I make other arangements with a third party company to purchase my lisence despite being able to cancel at any time and my need of it should only last a week at most.
It\'s just as well as there was no Keyboard at launch.. with no idea of when one will become available. No PS2 to NGC converters will handle a KB yet and there are no Dreamcast or PS/2 to NGC converters out. I tried earlier to splice together a DC PS/2 KB converter into the PS2 to NGC converter with no luck. It seems I\'ll need schematics and possibly some basic Radioshack components before I can make one work.
Anyhow, that\'s my review. Overall, the game seems much more balanced than the DC version was despite adding in three completely new character classes. And while I may have my complaints about not being over to transfer over the basic levels, stats, and models of my DC characters and the lack of a keyboard.. I\'m still very satisfied with how things turned out. PSO Ep I & II for the NGC is the game that Dreamcast v.2 SHOULD have been.. and comes VERY highly recommended, expecially if you\'ve never played the DC version before.
-
I kinda miss PSO but not enough to shell out more money for it...
-
I got GTA3: Vice City. I traded Capcom my GunValkiyre for it. I only done it because of the 80\'s setting and music. I honestly don\'t care that much for the gameplay, but the enviroment and music is classic. Oh well. I can always cruise around, kill hookers and listen to \'Love my Way\', while ignoring the actual missions - which bore me to tears.
-
Yesterday I recieved Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee for the Gamecube as well as Marvel Super Heroes for the Saturn and Vampire Savior also for the Saturn. All of it is good stuff honestly, but the review for Godzilla will have to come either tomorrow or on Wednesday. Let me just say now that it is much better than one would imagine.
-
In my lust for futuristic over-the-top racing (and after finding woFusion quite a disappointment), I just went out and got Extreme G-3 for the PS2. I\'m home now and... well, I got all my consoles at my new apartment (where I don\'t have a \'net connection), so impressions will have to wait.
-
Animal Crossing- I\'ll be playing this game for years to come. I love the simplicity.
I\'ve put more hours on this game so far than I have on more than 90% of my collection. I\'ve only had it for 3 days!! (It was rainy this weekend so I stayed in and racked up the hours.)
-
Right\'o, I hate to say this, but I think I like Extreme G3 more than I do wipEout Fusion. *gasp*
I\'ve only made my way up to the first 500G league races, and can\'t wait to finish working tonight, so I can go play some more.
Sure it does feel quite much on-rails, sure the music sucks, sure the AI is as silly as it gets... but it\'s fast, technically pretty tolerable, and... I just like it!! I like to turn down the crappy muzak and pump up the effects, 4 speaker surround sound really brings the game to life. My hearing still hasn\'t recovered fully after some racing earlier today...
Maybe this entusiasm will drop dead after some while, but we\'ll see.
-
Here is my two latest game purchases.
Metal Gear Solid Substance for the xBOX. The ps2 controller is alot better suited than the xbox controller. Clicking in on the control pad to go into first person mode sucks. Other than that it has like 5 snake missions that I have been playing. No radar with this sucks. I played it on the ps2 to such a point I know where the AI should be. Guess what. They are not. So far as graphics go. They seem to be the same, but the sound seems a bit more defined in some area\'s. Overall it was not worth the purchase, unless of course you did not play it on the ps2.
Ratchet and Clank for the ps2. Well I just booted it up. I will post later about it.
-
After a bit of playing Ratchet and Clank. I was not all that impressed as usual. The camera is very sluggish. Heck it is sluggish when you try to adjust it yourself. It is also kind of bothersome picking up all this bolts. I guess luckily you are magnetic though, and they all just cling to you.
I also picked up Hitman 2 today for the xBOx . It is the damn coolest idea of a game. To bad you have to use both analog sticks. What is it with the xbox games, and using both analog sticks. Bloodrayne does the same thing. Are they too lazy to put an auto camera in, or is it a fps console throwback? Either way I really dislike the dual analog control so it is taking somthing away from it for me.
-
An update to MGS2 substance for the xBOx. They have moved a couple of items around, and added a few new posters to the main game. Also it has the weirdest slowdown I have ever seen. The tanker chapter that we all had for the demo has slowdown outside in the rain. I say it is weird because everything except your character is moving at normal speed. I expect slowdown to kill even that. Very strange slowdown indeed. Also I was being a badass playing, and not bothering to save. Anyhow I got about 3/4 of the way through the shell chapter, and the game froze on me.
In general it appears Konami just went through the motions on this one, or as mm suggests so often the xBOx is not superior. Either way I would probably wait for the ps2 port of this xbox game when it comes out in 6 months. At that time I may do the unthinkable, and trade in the original version, and the xBOx version, and get it. A port of a port of a port.
Edit as usual for misspelling. Kicks wireless keyboard with almost dead batteries.
-
Buy some new batteries. That mouse and keyboard is hell to use.
As for MGS2 - I wouldn\'t blame it on the Xbox, instead I would blame it on Konami\'s quick cash in which resulted in sloppy programming. They had the same exact problem (slowdown) with Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams. Hell, they even messed up CastleVania: Sotn for the Saturn.
The general rule is, anytime Konami ports something, it isn\'t gonna be pretty..
-
Alright, I jus purchased Medal of Honor: Frontline and StarFox Adventures for the NGC the other night. I haven\'t been too far into StarFox yet.. but from what I\'ve seen it\'s pretty impressive. The control and camera seem to be coded very well as there\'s never a moment where I\'ve found myself wanting to do something, but couldn\'t because of fighting the controller or Camera. Battles are extreemely easy so far, with two quick combos killing jus about every malicious beastie I\'ve come across. That\'s it\'s downside tho.. on the upside the space shooting aspects are great. Controlling the Fire Ball power of the staff reminds me alot of Link and his Bow & Arrow from Zelda:OoT.. and the mini-games such as SnowSki Racing the Dinos and the Space Shooting when approcing the planet are very fun. Best of all, it\'s actually incorperated some actual Adventuresqe puzzles into the game rather than just slapping "adventure" on the Cover. Although they seem very simplistic so far.. usually just finding an item to give to a character so he will help you. I\'m not far in the game so hopefully this will improve. Even your little Dino sidekick, while annoying, enhances gameplay by giving you a whole subset of option such as having him "Stay" on a pressure pad to open a door, or "Find" to dig up a burried Item. Almost like having a dog.. excpet whiney and always hungry.
Oh yeah.. and the game is GORGEOUS. Easily the best looking game I\'ve ever played.
Metal of Honor: Frontline is like you\'d all expect it.. as I can\'t really see any changes in it over the PS2 version with the exception of Multiplayer. I don\'t have two controllers, so I can\'t comment on that aspect of it yet.. but as for the rest of the game it\'s very well done. After the D-Day invasion I was expecting alot out of the game.. but honestly I find it being more of the same standard MOH fare.. which isn\'t really good IMO. Not bad.. but not good either. I do like alot of the new extras they\'ve added.. like starting a bar-fight between drunken Nazi\'s and actually being able to work with other soldiers to get a job done. I know this last bit will be a bit of a pointless nag.. but why is it my companion for "Needle in a Haystack" cannot die? I played through in normal mode and did just about everything I COULD to kill the SOB (I\'m just sadistic like that..) and couldn\'t... even after shooting him in the eyeballs with a variety of weapons or playing the old "Hide a live grenade in the rookies pants" trick.
Still.. two very worthy purchases.

There\'s my latest purchase. Found CastleVania: Sotn (Jp, Saturn) for a decent deal and couldn\'t pass it up, even if I am broke.
:(

I figure since clip has been posting pictures of what games for the Saturn he has acquired, I might as well do the same.
It\'s all coming together. Couple more games and I\'ll have a very good and very full collecting. By the way Clip, I hope you still want to trade copies of Burning Rangers. :)
As for other games, I\'ve picked up MGS2: Substance for the Xbox which sucks but I\'m sure the PS2 version will not suffer from the crappy Konami port-itous, Ratchet and Clank for the PS2 which is one of the best platformers I have played in a long while, Deathrow for the Xbox which is a decent multiplayer game but really lacks in depth, Burnout 2 for the PS2 which is another unique title worthy of at least a rental, Rayman Arena for the PS2 which is absolutely terrible, Shenmue II for the Xbox which is fairly decent and far better than the first, and Godzille Destroy All Monsters Melee which I reviewed at the link below. *Phew* Enjoy the review!
Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=51)

Shinobi for the ps2. Impression can be foind here.
http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26097
The other game I picked up today was Resident Evil. I am going to put a couple of hours into it before bed. My impression of this is it is Resident Evil. I like it. Not as much as Shinobi which is incredibly fun, but any other day I would be singing the praise of it.

By far this is the most fun I have ever had playing an online game. Up until this game its been all madden online for the consoles but this game rocks.
With the voice masking and all the hilarious comments this game will be played for a long time.
Live is Live I cant wait for more games. The X-Box was built for online gaming.

Shinobi
RE0
RE0 sucks.
Shinobi is the greatest PS2 game lately. It ranks up there with Mark of Kri and DMC as truly great games.
-
Why am I not surprised with the above statement? ;) Bet it still can\'t beat Shinobi 3 tho.
What is it about RE0 that makes it suck so bad?
-
RE 0 is out???
*ZOOOOOMMM*
I\'m sure Clip meant that it sucks compared to say #2 or CV.
-
Ok, I got quite a few games and am in the process of reviewing them so there\'s a couple of reviews, but by no means am I fully caught up with my recent purchases. First up is Big Air Freestyle, which I reviewed below, Shinobi which I also reviewed below, MechAssault which will see a review later this week, and Metroid Prime which will see a review sometime next week. Tomorrow I will have Metroid Fusion and Splinter Cell which will probably see a review next week as well. I also picked up Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter and ordered Fighters Megamix, Oshaberi Parodius, Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, Virtual On, and NiGHTs all imports for the Sega Saturn last night and none of them will see reviews because none of you care. :) Anyways, enjoy the reviews below!
Shinobi (PS2) (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/91)
Big Air Freestyle (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=54)
Enjoy!

Just got Metroid...Amazing.
IMO, the best thing to come out of this generation. When I try to think of games that compare in atmosphere, style, smooth as silk gameplay, action, and overall enjoyment...my mind goes blank.
It manages to retain the old look and feel as a visual masterpiece and a joy to play. Honestly, it has the best environments hands down...I\'ll just say it...the best graphics to date. The music will send you straight back to Super Metroid, but with a little more orchestra sound to it.
Nothing compares:D
Thank you, Retro Studios and Nintendo.:D
-
Latest 2 purchases
1. Splinter Cell. Yeah no impression. I am still playing shinobi
2. Metroid Fusion. Same as above.
Go figure
-
RE 0
So far, the Switch action seems pretty cool...
I just unloaded all my handgun ammo on an enemy and found it had no effect...
-
Holy cow, Batman! I just went and wasted a good 160 euros! 2 games + a memory card...
I got Ratchet and Clank, which is clichéd, the non-linearity really isn\'t that non-linear, kinda boring, and kinda fun to play. Excellent easy, accessible fun with tons of stuff going on.
Aaaand... Hitman 2, which was weird. Normally, if a game is coming out for the PC also, I save it for later, but I just completely fell in love with a demo of the game and got it, snap, like dat. I haven\'t even started playing it yet, only had an hour to spare earlier today, but the demo I\'ve played for several hours during the past few days.
I was initially super freaked, as I popped R&C into my PS2, and found out it wouldn\'t load the game. I tried and tried and tried again, about 20 times, but no workie. Then I tried Hitman... lots of loud swearing ensued. Then I tried some old games; worked just fine. Then I tried Hitman.... it worked! But I thought I\'d spend the hour left with R&C, and to my surprise it worked too! ... my PS2 acting up? Agh!
-
I finally pryed myself away from Metroid Prime to get this review up for MechAssault. I wish there was more to the game than its simple arcade gameplay, but alas, this is all she wrote. Expect a Metroid Prime, Shenmue II, MGS2 Substance, Metroid Fusion, and a Splinter Cell review in the next couple of weeks. Until then, enjoy the review!
MechAssault (Xbox) (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/92)
-
Quite a fair review IMO. I enjoy it, especially the multiplayer, but yeah it is basically a FPS with mechs.
-
Metroid Prime - I won\'t even bother writing up my opinion since they match pretty susinctly with Ginko\'s. This is one of the best games on the NGC, and one of the best out of this generation. Period.
Curse of Monkey Island - Haven\'t played it yet.. still drooling over the jewel case. Will edit it up with a review once I clear off some HDD space and install it.
Sega Nomad - Bulky, eats batteries, old blurry LCD technology, not really all that portable in the GBA sence. Yet, has 6 face buttons (not including Start & mode) for fighting game goodness, has a backlit screen, compatable with all Sega Genesis titles which are pennies now, and has a controller & AV port to make it TV ready at a moment\'s notice. Excellent graphics too.
Verdict:
NOMAD = Good attempt for it\'s time
GameBoy Advance = Poor attempt for it\'s time
The perfect handheld is yet to be released, and will be a mix of GBA\'s portability, and the cutting edge technology of the NOMAD. (for it\'s time) Then again.. I don\'t have a Neo-Geo pocket yet.... Hmmmm....
-
GTA: Vice City... ohmigod, this game eats time to much. I made a mistake buying it now, with all the exams and stuff coming soon, eep. Lovin\' it, except for the more-often-than-not crappy camera when on foot.

Well, it\'s been a little bit since my last update so it\'s time for a few updates in purchases along with an all new review many of you just might be interested in.
First up, the new games I\'ve added to my library are as follows:
Splinter Cell (Xbox) - Review will be posted sometime next week. My impression of it is very close to what Gamespot has been saying all along so expect a similar review.
Metroid Fusion (GBA) - Far and away the BEST GBA game available. My review won\'t be posted for a bit since it\'s a follow up review rathen then an original.
Defender (GBA) - It\'s a shooter so i like it a bit, but it\'s slow pacing and bland style just irks me in some ways. Expect a review of this one next week or the week after.
Sega Smash Pack (GBA) - What a bunch of terrible ports. This game pisses me off more than MGS2: Substance in its total mediocrity. Expect a review to be posted next week.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GCN) - A rather decent action title. The variety of game play and features keeps the game interesting. Expect a review of this one in about 3 weeks.
The rest of the games up for review, Shenmue 2, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, and Ratchet and Clank will appear later on in the coming weeks pending the new design of Intensity-Magazine, but they are on their way. In addition to these new titles, I also recieved a bunch of Saturn games in the mail and the list goes as follows: Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, Fighters Megamix, Nights (Import), Oshyaberi Parodius Deluxe, Cyberbots, and Virtual On, while ordering Pocket Fighter, New Shinobi Legend, Panzer Dragoon, Fist, and Gokujyo Parodius Deluxe. *Phew*
Finally, last but not least, a Metroid Prime review below. This is the longest review I\'ve ever written clocking in at over 3,100 words. Anyways, enjoy the review and have a happy turkey day. :)

Mech Assault. I traded in Splinter Cell (which I hated) for it.
Best (exclusive) game on the system. Good, mindless fun.
Pity XBox Live! isn\'t out here yet. :(
-
Ghost Recon... I am somewhat disappointed. I guess after playing Mech Assault so much I don\'t have patience to lead a team in a one shot one kill game.
-
It has been a bit since I posted my recent purchases as of late.
Splinter Cell for the Xbox= How I hate this game. I guess it would not have been that bad if I had gone into it expecting some unrealistic realistic AI. I imagine most of you have read my impression of it. So no more rehash here.
Sonic collection for the gamecube. I was feeling a bit nostalgic the other day. It\'s plain old 2d sonics from the genesis days. They put in some crappy ones for giggles I suppose. Atleast I have the old side scrolling sonic. If only the sega cd version had been included.
Rygar for the ps2. I have yet to even put it in my ps2 I do believe. I watched Lic play through most of it, and it has cheap bosses so it is not my cup of tea.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Ah the splendid 2d street fighters. I wish Capcom would have atleast thrown a bone our way and atleast put in 1 new capcom character. Other than that it is 40 bucks for an exact and I do mean exact copy of the DC version which I doubt would sell for 20 new if you could find it anywhere. I must have sucker written across my forehead.
Lord of the Rings the Two Towers for the PS2. I was playing the crap out of it, but LIC seemed to be interested in it so I let him borrow it. That was a week ago I think.
Hunter the Reconing for the XBOX. If only they had put a lock on feature that was not partially broke this could have been a great game. Once again this game likes to use both analogs. That seems to be my number one peeve about xbox games. I am a simple guy that hates dual analog control. If there is an XBOX 2 they should pull that second analog stick. It feels cumbersome, and just icky overall.
Metroid Fusion for the GBA. I played this about halfway through suffering EYE strain. Then I read about the Nintendo converter that will go on the bottom of the gamecube. I have retired this one until that comes out. I love the GBA games, but not the headaches from the eyestrain, and yes I do know about the afterburner kit. It is not the light hurting me. It is the tiny images. I must be going blind in my old age.
Metroid Prime for the Gamecube. I traded Tekken 4 for this game. I was disliking this game at first since it was a FPS, but it is starting to feel like a metroid game to me now, and all is well. I have to take some motion sickness medicine if I play it for an extended period of time, but it is tolerable. Well worth the nausia a FPS will give me from time to time.
I know I am missing a few games, but these popped into my head.:)
Edit: Here is a meager list of the next gen games that I own. This is not any of my older stuff. Perhaps one day I will add them if I get the time and initiative.
http://users.ign.com/collection/saltmore
-
Note: I traded Capcom my copy of Prime for his copy of Tekken 4. I\'m not sure which one of us got ripped off - as I think they are both suck-ass games....Never the less, I\'m just glad to be rid of Prime..
Anyways...My newest games are.
Rygar - Grr! Decent game ruined by cheap ass boss battles. I tell you now, the final showdown (three boss fights) is purely cheap!!
Steel Battalion - Waiting for it in the mail...*sigh*
Capcom Generations 4 - Jp, Saturn. Collection of the Ghouls & Ghosts game\'s.
Pocket Fighter 2 Turbo - Jp, Saturn. Exactly same as PSone domestic version. Just part of the growing Capcom collection.
Street Fighter Zero 3 - Jp, DC. I now own three copies of this one game (Psone, Jp Saturn, JP Saturn). Funny thing is, for once we didn\'t get the worse box art. By far the Japanese DC box art for this game is simply terrible. I\'m not sure where Capcom came up with it...
*shrugs*
I\'m considering buying Marvel Vs Capcom 2 - as I have bummed Capcom\'s copy and yet to return it. I\'m a sucker for any Capcom game and I already own the DC version, but damn the game was fun....I do agree that Capcom should of thrown us a bone with a few extra Capcom characters. How about Arthur? Guy? Gill? Rose? Adan? The list goes...Infact, that brings me to an idea. A Capcom all-star\'s game that is 2D and features every major Capcom character - including every character to appear in the SF universe....Ah, that\'d be sweet.
-
What a surprise. This game rocks. Some of the best body punishment issued this year. There is nothing better than throwing a cat though a plate glass window off a ten story bulding.:D

Well, big update so lets get started.
First off, here\'s a list of the new games that have come across my desk this week and last:
Nascar: Dirt to Daytona (GCN) - I\'m not a big fan of racing or Nascar in general, but I\'ll be damned if this game isn\'t bad at all. This review will be up next week.
Hot Wheels Velocity X (GCN/GBA) - It\'s the best Hot Wheels racer yet, but that doesn\'t say much since all the previous ones have sucked. The GCN game is pretty bad, but the GBA one is a bit like RC Pro Am. Interesting stuff. The GBA review will be up this week and the GCN review next week.
007 Nightfire (Xbox) - Actually a GREAT FPS. It\'s not quite a Halo-killer, but it\'s definitely better than that trash Timesplitters. I especially love the arcade sequences where you control big weapons and the driving sequences. You just feel like Bond and I\'m VERY impressed by it. Expect a review of this one in a few weeks or so.
Zelda: A link to the Past and the Four Sword (GBA) - I don\'t know if this or Metroid Fusion is best game on the GBA. I do know one thing though, as soon as I tasted the Four Sword, I immediately knew what I had to get all my GBA weilding friends for Christmas. 4-player Zelda here I come! Expect a review of this in a week or so.
Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland (GBA) - I realize it\'s a remake, but it\'s just so damn cool. i was deprived of Kirby up until SSB:M and this game is absolutely fun. The multiplayer mini games are also a riot and I wish I had four copies of the game to go through it co-op style. Expect a review of this one in a couple of weeks.
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA) - I don\'t know why I didn\'t buy this game earlier, but I admit my stupidity and am glad I have it now. It\'s quite amazing and am happy that I finally have a copy.
Contra Advance: Alien Wars (GBA) - Nintendo sure loves their remakes, but Konami does not like making them. This game is ass. I\'m sorry, but Konami, you need to start doing more for your fans when it comes to porting your games. It\'s the GBA for crying out loud, it\'s not hard to program for.
Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (GCN) - It\'s not good. I don\'t know what else I need to say, but it\'s utterly terrible. Too bad it\'s not as good as the GBA game.
Plus, I grabbed yet another game in the Parodius series for the Saturn along with Fist and the original Panzer Dragoon import as well.
Now, what would an update be without a couple of promised reviews? They\'re posted below so enjoy them all and I\'ll see you guys later in the week with more updates and new games acquired along with new reviews!
Sega Smash Pack (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=145)
Ratchet and Clank (PS2) (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/97)
PS: I also took a trip to the Nintendo Cube Club here in San Francisco. With my VIP pass in hand, I tested out Zelda GCN and I must say that it\'s everything OoT is along with a look that is stunning. In fact, it\'s better than stunning and the new manuevers that Link can do are beautiful. We\'re all in for a real treat come March \'03 and I honestly can\'t wait. In fact, just to do the circle slash again and listen to Link scream across the screen will be absolutely worth it!
-
Where\'s your Shenmue 2 review?
-
Ooo, kinda fell behind here. Okay then..
Metroid Prime/GCN: Buy GameCube now, get Metroid. Go go.
Resident Evil 0/GCN: Not quite as good as RE1 gameplay-wise, but close. A great effort by Capcom.
-
*shrugs* I strongly disliked RE0.. I miss my item boxes.. Not to mention it didn\'t really clear up a lot of the back story like it was suppose to. Instead, it for the most part just brought in a new virus and a new mad scientest...
:(
-
Where\'s your Shenmue 2 review?
It\'s on its way. Finals are here afterall. :)
-
Ryu, did you play the last Bond game (agent under fire)? How does Nightfire compare to it? I was considering getting the new one, not sure what platform for yet, think I\'ll wait till after christmas.
-
I did. This game is far and away better than every bond game released with the only exception being Goldeneye, but in ways I like this one better. For starters, the level break down is FAR better with so much more to do. Driving your Aston Martin and blowing all kinds stuff up is just thrilling. The game is just cool, it\'s hard to describe it any other way than that. I highly recommend it.
-
LiC: Y\'know, I\'d actually tend to agree. I mean, we don\'t even know who Nemesis is yet!
This game was fun and all, but felt so.. unnecessary to the franchise. Like a total side-story, which was probably Capcom\'s intention. About the item boxes: I felt a little bit better about them.. but there were trade-offs. At first, it was like "cool, I can drop items anywhere I want" but then there were times when it was more like "cool, I have to trek all the way back to the frickin\' lobby just to get the grappling hook". All in all, I liked the no-item box and dual-character gameplay.. and I felt that the game was eerie in certain ways.. but it isn\'t the best RE game.
It\'s better than RE3, but RE1/RE2 are better IMHO. (haven\'t played CV)
Bring on RE4!
-
Anything is almost better than RE3. I think you should try Code Veronica though, it was a great game.
-
Don\'t listen to LIC.
Code Veronica is trash. :)
Just picked up Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, The Getaway and Link to the Past.
The Getaway rapes Vice City. So awesome, very realistic.
-
Bob say someone absolutly hates GTA3, and vice city. Is there any hope for enjoyment with the getaway with them?
-
While I haven\'t played that much of The Getaway, from what I have played it is quite different from GTA. While the general principle of being able to steal whatever car you want, then go hunt someone down is the same, the game is much more focussed (less freedom to mosey around) on each mission. There\'s also a heavy emphasis on gunplay, which is actually fun, rather than a chore as in GTA. Lots of Metal Gear-esque moves, such as popping out from around a corner to take people out, etc.
The realism is something else as well. Take a few shots, and you\'ll be stumbling all over the place :D
Also, if you\'re into movies such as Lock Stock and Two Smokin\' Barrels, and Snatch (or any other british gangster type moffie) you\'ll love the dialogue and story. :)
-
Let me just update that. I am now starting to find some very frustrating flaws in the gameplay. Basically with the lock-on system, the shooting/melee system, and the indicator (instead of a map) system.
I\'ll get back to you tommorrow once I\'ve played the game a bit more. :)
-
Don\'t listen to Bobby. I\'m the resident Capcom expert. Code Veronica was pure heaven!
:D
GO back to your silly Square games, Bobby.
heh.
;)
-
CV & RE 2 = Best. RE\'s. Ever.
-
Preach on Brother Ashford, preach on!
-
Thanks for the impressions Bob. :)
-
I\'m as much an Resdient Evil whore as I am a Final Fantasy whore. And Code Veronica was just amateurish, cash-in bullshit.
IMO. :)
No problem Capcom. I\'ve played it a little more though, and I can say the game is damn good, but DAMN hard. Luckily, it\'s only been level #2 that\'s had a real problem with the shooting. If you\'re trying to shoot at people while there are lots of civillians around, you\'ll wind up clubbing the civillian, instead of shooting at the people you intended to. Very annoying. But that hasn\'t happened since.
Driving the cars is great fun, though. :)
*can\'t remember if I told you these impressions in my last post*
-
Bob I have to give you a big THANK YOU! I read your impressions of Mechassault, and after about a week of debating I finally picked it up.
I dislike Mech games, and this is a blast so far. Maybe it is because I am running over people, and blowing buildings up. My only problem with it is that it wants to use both analogs!!! ARGH !!! I swear MS must force the developers to do it.
The analog is not such a big prob in this game. Especially when I am strafing around a building blowing it up.
So far as the getaway goes. I will buy it, but I have gotten soft as of late working 6 days a week. I want a nice short easy game. I hate getting mad on my 1 day off.
-
Another pint sized update so here we go!
X-Men: Next Dimension (GCN) - Well, this game sure does leave a lot to be desired. The interface is a bit clunky with the GCN pad, but the super moves are totaly awesome. This one will be reviewed in about 2 weeks or so.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (GCN) - What a surprising little gem of a fighter. It\'s great when you change techniques mid combo and whip out a sword or bo of some type to finish it off. Devastating and satisfying all at the same time. This will be reviewed in roughly two weeks.
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions (GCN) - This game was definitely designed for the Xbox and it\'s apparent right from the boot up screen. I like the extra options, but the game was never all that special to begin with.
That\'s it for this week, but next week will have a ton of reviews so keep your eyes open for that one. Here\'s a review to read until then. It\'s the lowest score I\'ve ever given to a game and boy did it deserve it. Until next week!
Defender (GBA) Review (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=151)

My latest game purchase.
Jedi Knight 2 for the XBOX. I had extremly high hopes for this game because of the first. Well I was sadly disappointed.
Alot of my pain is because it is just too easy to miss a switch. I wandered around one of the first levels for an hour because I could not progress. Then a accidently looked down, and my hand icon come on. Not only did I have to be in front of the switch, but I also had to look down at it. I also found some switches you need to be a set distance from. This is not such a pain after you recognize what the switches look like, but it is a pain at first.
Cutscenes look worse than the in-game. Enough said on that.
In JK once I got my light saber I don\'t think I used anything else for the rest of the game. It seems to be weaker this go around. So I end up using my guns still. This all has to do with my force powers being weaker.
Slow-down in some critical spots. This game is no speed demon to begin with, but some spots are just unbearable. The mine level has some major slow-down for no activity going on.
I am still using both analog sticks!
All in all the game is not bad. I have a strong tendency to just point out the bad in a game, but it kept me in my seat for over 6 hours straight. That is saying alot for me when my usual playtime for a new game anymore for 1 sitting is anywhere from 1-3.
-
Jedi Knights 2 really picks up when you start fighting other people with light sabers and get more powerful force powers. Awesome game. Starts out terribly slow like you mentioned though.
-
I also picked up Jedi Knight II for XBox.
It\'s fun having light-sabre battles against a friend.
But I\'m not far into it, so it\'s still quite slow for me, so far. :)
-
Picked up Unreal Championship today..
I\'m taking it back tommorrow.
This has such a horrible framerate. It\'s 30fps, and slows down (in single player) around almost EVERY corner you turn, and whenever a character appears on screen.
Don\'t even think about playing it split-screen (which is painfully annoying to setup).
Considering that PS2 had 3 Deathmatch based FPS gmaes available for launch, all running at 60fps, this is really unnacceptable. Hell, Red Faction II ran at 30fps, was made for it\'s single player game and STILL has a better multiplayer framerate (and multiplayer, IMO).
Ugh..
-
I just got Splinter Cell. One of the better games released this year, definitely. Nicely polished.
-
Here are my latest purchaes.
Star Wars Bounty Hunter for the Gamecube. I guess this is not a bad game all in all. It has a horrible camera though. For the most part it sticks right to your back which makes the camera move a bit on the fast side. In fact the camera has a tendency to make me sick if I move around a bit.
Max Payne for the XBOX. Lic bought it for the ps2, and I was very unimpressed. Well for the XBOX it is a different matter. This has to be one of my favorite games of all time. In the ps2 version you could not see the bullets, but here they were clear as a bell. I was also mesmorized by how when I am in bullet time shooting at the baddies my bullets were making part of the walls fluff in slo-mo. Not to say that there were not some unpleasurable spots. Like his dream sequences were just annoying, but I can deal with some bad just for what should be a matrix game. Oh yeah I almost forgot. I was forced to use both analog sticks which I hate, but I beat it in 2 very long sittings which has not happened since Devil May Cry. This game will probably get some replay.
OddWorld Munches Oddysee. I will never play this game. I picked it up because it was cheap. I watched LIC play it, and while it is ok. I am not a fan of the way the characters move in this game. Their jump is just way to jerky, and motion seems very rushed. The levels are nice, and large though.
-
How you can enjoy Max Payne and his annoying nightmare levels and yet not find complete heaven in Munch, I do not understand...
-
I loved every second of Max Payne. Simply an amazing game in every aspect. Awesome graphics, very dark atmosphere, great story told in an unique way, innovative bullet-time concept which rocked, great sound, extremely fun, had replay value in the sense you wanted to just get some more of that sweet action, GOTY 2001 for me.
-
Max Payne = Shoot a bunch of guys, repeat 100X, ZZZZZZZZZZ
-

I\'ll be damned ASHFORD a shooter where you shoot alot of guys. Go figure.
-
I gotta agree with ashford there.....I think that with a little work on that area the game could have be one of the best on the PS2 by far, it had great graphics, great replay, and a great story it was just missing that one bit.
-
All I know is that Max Payne on Xbox ownz! This game has amazing gameplay, pretty damn nice graphix and is pretty long for an action game.
now for my latest purchase.
Hitman 2 for the Xbox
At first it seemed just too damn difficult, but once I got the feel for it, and relized the gameplay was a little different than 47, it became alot more playable. So far I must say it\'s amazingly fun, I just love sniping someone through a window from an adjacent apartment building, and then drop the gun and walk around like nothing happend.
-
I got Kingdom Hearts for christmas. GOTY 2002 for me, no competition. I\'d love to try and write down my feelings on the game, but I\'m afraid I\'d just run out of superlatives before even getting anywhere. Perfection.
I also bought Twisted Metal : Black a couple of days after christmas. It\'s pretty good fun even in one-player mode (in small portions), but all hell broke lose when I had two of my cousins come over last night, ace game.
-
I just got Grand Theft Auto Vice City. You\'ve heard of it, no? Quickly, I\'d say that it\'s as much fun as I\'d imagined, but the levels get real hard real quick. I\'m pretty well stuck for now, but luckily there\'s a lot of side events to work on as well. For instance, the game also doubles as a crude Crazy Taxi sequel with its taxi cab bonus missions.
I\'ve also got Star Fox Adventures. At the half way point, the game has loosened up some and offers some logical progression and unique puzzles. The majority of the game, however, has been the patented Rare formula of collect, back-track, and repeat.

Another decent sized update so here we go...
This holiday season was a lot better to me before Christmas then during admittedly, but that was all my fault since I went out and bought every damn promising game out there, including a few new Dreamcast titles. Regardless, it was a happy holiday season and here is what has been stuffed in my game consoles the past week or so.
Chu Chu Rocket (DC): It\'s a neat little puzzle game and although it\'s getting on about three years old now, it\'s still a fun 4-player game. I picked this one up for $3.00 in a used bin at EB. What\'s three bucks to a good 10 hours of fun? I can\'t even get into movies for that cheap and those last a mere two hours.
Virtua Tennis (DC): This is actually just a replacement copy since the one I had incured a scratch, through no fault of my own I might add, that rendered it useless. The replacement was a mere $5.00 in yet another EB bin of some sort of which i was happy to liberate and give a nice home.
Virtua Tennis 2k2 (DC): Everyone who pays me a visit for 4-player gaming parties and whatnot knows that Virtua Tennis is an absolutely superb title and this holiday season I decided to bite the bullet and buy the sequel to the original. Although it is incredibly good and much like the first with a few graphical upgrades, the game feels a whole lot slower and a lot more realistic. I actually hated it from the start, but after an hour or two, I was in a formidable smashing groove. It\'s yet another beautiful Sega sports multiplayer title.
Marvel Vs. Capcom (DC): I\'ll admit it: I never bought this game when it came out. In fact, not too long ago, I absolutely loathed all the Vs. fighters by Capcom (with the exception of Capcom Vs. SNK [1 and 2]), but my heart softened up to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 so I gave it\'s predecessor a run. It\'s decent just like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, but I picked this one up moreso to complete a collection than anything else.
Street Fighter III: Third Strike (DC): Altered would kill me if he knew I never had a copy of this, but I\'m willing to take the chance. For starters, this game is dissapointing in some respects. What used to be state of the art animation is now pale in comparison to the likes of the beautiful Guilty Gear X and XX, but almost all fighters do these days. I like the classic Street Fighter gameplay, and the parrying system is still absolutley beautiful, but the lack of a speed option turns me off big time. I like my games fast and furious and it\'s poor when Capcom does not include that option at all.
Power Stone (DC): I played this game more at my friends house during parties than any other and picking it up only seemed logical. Although it has yet to be played by my more immediate friends, it\'s still worth the $7.00 I paid for it.
Power Stone 2 (DC): Much like the first but with more options and more characters. I haven\'t really got into it all that much, but like I said, it\'s more of a party game then anything else.
Grandia II (DC): I played this game a long time ago and was very impressed with the battle system, but before I could pick up a copy, it was otherwise discontinued and the copies were snatched up. Now, it seems, lots of people are dumping their Dreamcasts for some quick credit so to the victor goes the spoils. ;)
Hitman 2 (Xbox): This is quite possible one of the best Xbox games out there. It has great control, awesome open ended missions, in a sense that you can complete each one in a variety of ways, and graphics that I have no complaints about. It just works very very well on the Xbox and I\'m glad that it does. In my opinion, I\'d rather have this then Splinter Cell.
Guilty Gear X (PS2): I have the Dreamcast version already, but since GGXX is going to be out on the PS2, I figured it would be nice to have the pair. Now all I need is a replacement DVD case since the one it came in is all tore up.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (PS2): I picked this one up for the sole reason of better control. I have the Dreamcast version already, but the D-pad wears my thumb down to a nub and I\'m sick of it. The Dreamcast version has a much better resolution, faster loading time, and much more vibrant sound, but when it comes to me saving thumb, I\'ll take it.
Mario Party 4 (GCN): Though not technically mine, I bought it for Rya and her sisters, I still had a go at it at our Christmas party. It\'s absolutely hilarious in a lot of ways, but I admit that I can see where the game gets boring and why people don\'t like it. If it weren\'t for the company, the game would suck to no end.
That just about rounds out all the new games this holiday, but what would an update be without a couple of reviews?
Hot Wheels Velocity X (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=153)
Hot Wheels Velocity X (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=60)
NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=61)
To wrap up this update, I want to do something new and point out a good game that people probably missed that they should pick up right now just for the sake of having a good time. This weeks pick is none other than:
Bangai-O (DC)
It\'s an absolutely amazing shoother that no Treasure fan should be without. My initial impression of this game when I first got it was that it was ass. In fact, I thought it was one of the worst Treasure games to date, that is, until I played Stretch Panic. However, after reading a bit more about it, and rediscovering why I hated it in the first place, I gave it another go. The control default is hideous, no, beyond hideous. It\'s a deformation super mutated form of hideous. If you pick this one up, change the controls to the ABXY format right away and enjoy all the glory of battle, explosions, and beauty from the shooting geniuses at Treasure.
There\'s just something about the insane difficulty in shooters and the Treasure simplicity\\hair trigger control that just appeals to me like no other. Don\'t take my word for it though, trust the reviews posted here (http://www.mrmonkeyman.com/treasure/bangai.html) and here (http://dreamcast.ign.com/articles/164/164860p1.html) and here (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/0,11114,196683,00.html).
That\'s it for this update. Happy New Year everyone! :D

Grandia 2 is great...
Good choice...
-
Grandia 2 is my second favorite RPG after Super Mario RPG. I love most RPGs with no random battles.
-
TS2: I love it. I got it for Christmas and is a big improvement. Still not much more to talk about. If anyone knows how to unlock levels, PM me.
The Thing: One of my favorite games. It creeps me out though. A couple nights ago, it was dark and I was deep in the game. Because my parents went to bed, they turned the heat down. My cat wanted to sit on my lap. I kept pushing him away. He went away and then came back like 5-10 mins later. I didn\'t see him walk in because I was deep in the game. He walks infront of me and puts his paws on my knee. I nearly went through the ceiling. He scared the hell out of me. I thought at first a Thing was grabbing me
-
Jumpman: Y\'ever play Earthbound (http://www.starmen.net) on the SNES? That\'s another solid RPG with no random battles.
Grandia II rox0rs, BTW. Definitely my favorite Dreamcast RPG.. and SMRPG is kick-ass as well.
-
earthbound 0wnz! Gotta love how it steps away from the normal RPG settings.
-
I have been somewhat busy at work so my game purchases, and posting on this board has slacked off quite a bit, but here are my latest game purchases.
MK: DA for the XBOX. God how I wish I had bought this for the ps2. It seems to freeze with frost quite a bit. Also the controller just sucks for this game. I should have known better, but my ps2 mem card was full of game saves that I absolutly did not want to get rid of.
Now so far as the game goes. I really like this game. There are certain parts that I really enjoy, and parts that I dislike a bunch. I enjoy the style switching in mid-combo. There are a ton of martial arts style in this game also. This is great when your character has 2 styles, and a weapon. I think this helps even characters out a bit since some styles are faster, while others slower but more powerful.
Now so far as my dislikes. I really hate Moloch. I even went so far as to send midway an e-mail about him which I rarely do. Here is what I sent them.
"I think the version of MK:DA I bought the other week is broke. I am playing it, and having a good time. Then this character named MOLOCH comes out, and none of my specials, juggles etc... work anymore. I am forced to resort to button mashing. I realize this just can not be. So I would like to trade in my copy that is obviously all glitchy and broke for a version without this Moloch glitch.
I am also having another problem with this game. it is nowhere near as big a deal, but sometimes when I do Frost\'s ground freeze the game freezes. This is by no means as big a deal as this craaaaazy moloch glitch. So if we can switch out my moloch glitched game for a version without that glitch. I would like to do so. I don\'t really care about the frost freeze all that much. So I can wait quite a while for that glich to be corrected."
That pretty much sums up MK:DA
Btw I bought another ps2 memory card.
Dragon Ball Z for the ps2. Well it\'s Dragon Ball, and my nephews love it. I played through and beat story in 1 sitting. There is not much to say about this game other than it has sub-par graphics, no duck, no jump, or can not even fly on demand. Oh yeah the combo system feels off and somewhat simple. I guess that does not matter since I rarely ended up using them. Most of them go somthing like punch, punch, punch, punch, energy. All of the specials depend on KI which is a good concept, but by the time you have enough KI to do a really cool special the match is over. Btw you gain KI by hitting an opponent, and you lose it blocking. I guess if you love the series you will get a kick out of replaying the fights from the series.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the XBOX. Please don\'t make fun of me for buying this one. I was desperate for a game that I did not own one night and this one fit the bill. Long story short. I was pleasantly suprised by this title. Sure they recycle enemies. Sure the combo system kind of sucks. Sure the AI is a little whacked, but you get to kill vampires. There are way too few vampire games out there that don\'t totally suck. Mental note, must buy blood omen 2...... Anyhow it to me feels like a elongated bouncer. If you can make it past the training level, and the nausiating voice acting (not that it\'s bad, just that there is way too much of it) then this game is not a bad one to own. If you have not at the very least rented it. Then I would suggest doing so.
Project Gotham Racing for the XboX. The cars are pretty, but the levels aren\'t especially considering my other racing title added to my collection ralisport challenge. Bottom line it\'s no Gran Turismo.
RaliSport Challenge for the XboX. Now this is a game that if you are a racing fan and own a XboX that you should not do without. The tracks are simplistic stunning. Let me put it to you this way. When there is grass, there is grass. Like the kind that sways in the wind. As do the tree\'s. They do more than sway also. I hit a tree, and not only did it move like a 3000 pound car hit it. Some leaves fell off. The ice levels are incredible to look at. Not only during the movies, but ingame also. The ice reflects the sun the best I have seen in any game that I can remember. Now so far as gameplay goes. It feels a bit arcady, but that is not such a bad thing. Is it? Nothing like fish-tailing around corners to an extreme amount. Why Ms did not push this game over MSR will forever amaze me.
Sort of a side note. I am not becoming an XboX fanboy. It\'s just that it\'s shelf was looking a bit empty. This month will be mostly about the ps2 with 1 XboX purchase of Panzeer Dragoon. The gamecube will likely see none this month. I had planned on getting RE2, and 3 but I refuse to pay 40 bucks for these games since Capcom did not even bother to remake them. :(
-
Just Picked up Project Gothem Racing for 12 bucks, and must say it\'s barely worth the 12 dollars. It\'s not as fun as GT3, however the cars look a little better. At the very least it\'s a nice addition to my collection and will be played once in a while when I have a jonesing for some Ferrari goodness.
-
Just bought Shenmue 2
The game\'s production value is huge, picture GTA3 where the people on the streets have personalities and every single one is different and can speak with you. It\'s truely like you are in Hong Kong.
The gameplay however is less action, and more exploration. I love RPGs but this game has roughly a total of 10-20 fights in the entire game, and there\'s no leveling up, and no real character progression. I bought the game on Friday and just finished (3 days) and unfortunetly the main character is the same exact guy as he was in the begining of the game.
Overall, I would say it was a great experience, but more of a renter than a keeper type of game.

I beg to differ...

Few new things so it\'s time to get rolling.
Silhouette Mirage (PSX): I ordered this one off Ebay for a mere 11 dollars and must say that it\'s a decent Treasure shooter. It\'s sort of a play on that same light and dark stuff that makes Ikaruga so darn interesting, but it\'s a bit more complicated then that, especially in the later levels which ramp up in difficulty rather quickly. Go here (http://www.mrmonkeyman.com/treasure/silhouette.html) for a quick review of the game.
Silpheed: The Lost Planet (PS2): Like SIlhouette Mirage, it\'s not the best thing from Treasure, but it\'s definitely a decent shooter. The reviews that border on good to mediocre are about all I can agree with here and IGN\'s review was written by David Smith so I\'d probably give this link (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/164/164374p1.html) a try before rushing out to pick up this $13 steal which of course can be found here (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=188872).
Fantavision (PS2): Yes, it\'s mediocre. Yes, it\'s incredibly shallow, but me and my gf have a lot of fun playing it for some reason. Just detonating Starmine after Starmine has its own subtle sense of excitement that just can\'t be compared elsewhere. It was true it was just a tech demo, but I picked it up for a mere $9 at EB brand new so I can\'t complain for a second.
Ico (PS2): Yes, I reviewed (http://www.intensity-magazine.com/reviews/26) this one a long time ago and saw that it was picked up and loved by just about all those looking for an interesting and involving puzzle\\action game, but when you\'re strapped for cash, you trade in what you have to to get the next big thing and now, it\'s back in my collection. I paid only $7 for it so I feel it was more than worth the purchase. It\'s just a great little game and my collection felt empty without it.
Dynasty Warriors 3 (Xbox): In need of a fun two player cooperative game, one grasps for straws in order to satisfy their needs and Dynasty Warriors 3 fit the billl rather nicely. Good action and just all out fun brawl like gameplay that can be enjoyed by all those looking for a quick thrill. It\'s a tad on the difficult side at first, but trust me when I say you\'ll be slicing and dicing your way through the competition in just a quick hour or two. It\'s a decent game according to gamespot so I suggest peeking at their review here (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/reviews/0,10867,2896895,00.html).
Sim City 4 (PC): Ah, what a great little title this turned out to be. The graphics are beautiful and the details are just as sweet right down to the ground level with individual people roaming about the city starting riots and what not. The beauty of it all is its grand scope which encompasses litterally a massive world that can be shaped in any way to fit your need. Players can literally micromanage anything and it\'s recommended that they do to get the full enjoyment out of this title. I don\'t recommend a review to read about it, but I do recommend that you go out and pick this one up so long as you have a fairly decent system beyond 1ghz with a 32mb graphics card and about 512mb of ram.
And finally, here\'s two more reviews for you all to take a look at just like with all the other updates. Expect review quantity to start to get fairly high in the coming weeks as I start to catch up with all the work that I need to take care of including that Shenmue II review that I promised Ashford.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the Four Swords (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=157)
James Bond 007: NightFire (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/108)
Until next week everyone!

Ahh, the post-christmas discount bins just keep getting larger and larger, still this far into the new year, yahoo.
It\'s a good thing, good games for cheap, a time to get some new experiences you might\'ve missed along the years. It was a strange experience for me, as I purchased the first PS2 game that has fallen superlatively short of my expectations. And I didn\'t even have any expectations.
The game being Herdy Gerdy.
There doesn\'t seem to be anything fundamentally wrong game wise, actually there\'s a rather enjoyable little adventure in there... there, under the pitifully shaky visual output, eep. The whole game seems to have this "smudged" look, kinda like some compressed MPEG1 videos. And the framerate is HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE I TELL YOU! AAIIEEE! Under all that, the animation routines and game mechanics seem almost above average, but they\'re hidden behind the... ugliness... ugh.
The game itself is pretty fun, the herding routines are very simple, but there\'s something oddly compelling in it after all... then the framerate kicks down and the camera goes screwy. Yay! I\'ve also managed to crash the game a couple of times. Which is super-annoying; a Gromp had eaten a poisoned snail, and the poison wore off during a cut-scene. The game couldn\'t handle it and crashed. It wouldn\'t be that bad, IF I HAD FOUND A SAVE POINT BEFORE THIS HAPPENED! Well, about 45 minutes down the drain again.
.............................................
Not a game, but a game-related purchase... or to-be-purchase, actually. Just today I got a call from a local music store; my Grand Theft Auto : Vice City Original Sountrack 7CD box has arrived!!! I\'m gonna pick it up tomorrow :D
-
I am the proud new owner of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter for Gamecube, and Splinter Cell for X-Box.
I\'ll tell you how they fare later.
-
I\'ve gotten quite a few games since my last posts here...
Phantasy Star Collection - GBA - Love it
Animal Crossing - NGC - Loved it.. but it lost my interest quickly
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - NGC -Nowhere near as good as SA1, but an above par platformer.
Darkened Skye - NGC - Pretty good... least in the story and dialouge department. The rest of the game is pretty lame.
Eternal Darkness - NGC - Ok.. but failing to grasp my attention for much longer than 20 mins at a time.
Medal of Honor: Frontline - NGC - Good game, but it should have been improved over the PS2 version.
Skies of Arcadia - Dreamcast - Wow......
Outtrigger - Dreamcast - Not what I expected, maybe it\'ll be better if I go online but I can\'t connect to the servers now.. or maybe ever again. ._.
I was gonna buy Die Hard: Vengance for the NGC out of pure lust for blood.. until I saw the "Sierra" logo on the bottom. Still, despite my boycott.. I gave this one a rent thinking Sierra learned a few lessons with Valve\'s HalfLife. Thank god I didn\'t buy it is all I have to say. What a waste of disk space.. has there ever been a good Die Hard game??
-
Oh... and Omen.. despite what the box and reviewers and store clerks and whoever says so.. Shenmue is NOT an RPG. It\'s an adventure game.. which is why you probably think it makes a piss poor RPG.
It\'s actually not that good of an Adventure game either.. but eh.. for a console adventure game, it\'s the best available, not to mention being a very good game on it\'s own merits.

Welcome back, SonyFan...

Danke :)

One more update, few more dollars. Zoom zoom zoom.
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox): Well, it\'s great. It\'s amazing. It\'s super. I bought it and reviewed it all in the same week. Amazing. It\'s at the bottom of this post.
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 (GCN): It\'s OK to say the least, but it\'s nothing special. It\'s definitely nothing compared to the first Soul Reaver and nowhere near as difficult as the first Blood Omen despite being two different games.
The Revenge of Shinobi (GBA): Bad. Depressing. I don\'t know why Sega keeps making poor GBA games, with the exception of Super Monkey Ball Jr. and Sonid Advance, but they must have a good reason. Maybe it\'s just the development houses they keep handing their properties off to, but they do piss poor jobs. Avoid this one if you can.
Well, that\'s it for this week. In the coming weeks, there\'s plenty of stuff coming out to look out for which are on my must buy list including Star Wars KotOR, GBA:SP, .hack, Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO, Unreal II: The Awakening, and hopefully, Guilty Gear XX. Until then, here\'s a couple of reviews to enjoy.
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/111)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/110)
Pro Race Driver (PS2) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/109)
Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=159)
Until next time everyone!

AHEM AHEM!!!
Forgetting something?
;)
-
The other day I bought Project Eden. Man that thing is old. And dayum \'tis good too! At least I like it at the moment, a lot. The aesthetics are pretty crude all round, but the control system and base idea that has you taking care of 4 characters at one time (almost?) work wondrously well. Yum. I\'m on level 3 now, and a bit stuck... i\'m 101% sure I\'ll be swearing my socks off after I notice I\'ve missed the blindingly obvious once again...
-
Small update again, here we go!
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (Xbox): I wrote the review already. It\'s below.
Suikoden III (PS2): It\'s an OK RPG, but I was mostly just borrowing it for a time being. I never had a real commitment to it so maybe I\'m not the best judge for it.
War of the Monsters (PS2): I haven\'t really played it too much, but the presentation is superb and has that ultra retro 50\'s feel. Incognito is really good with their presentation and ever since Twisted Metal Black, I\'ve always had a great deal of respect for them. I\'m glad this game doesn\'t dissapoint in that regard.
Now, for some reviews! Shenmue 2 will be here next week! Perhaps even this week if I have time Friday!
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=67)
Revenge of Shinobi (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=163)
Tom Clancy\'s Splinter Cell (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/114)
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/115)
Alright, till next week everyone.

Devil May Cry 2. Impressions here. http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27745
-
Hurricane you slut, where are your reviews?
I\'ll have my Splinter Cell review up in a couple of days, as I get the game tomarrow
-
Bounty Hunter (GCN): - Well, in fact I returned this game. I liked it, played it, beat it, and did not desire to play it again, so I took it to EB and traded it in (i\'ll get to that later). Anyway, the game had a PHENOMENAL story to it, particularly telling you how Jango gets Slave 1 and how he was chosen for the clone army. Bounty Hunter, the Gamecube version, had significantly better graphics than the PS2 counterpart. The weapons were great, but not enough of them. The whole idea of Bounty Hunting was great but died and lost interest towards the end of the game. The gameplay itself was like most games, fun until it didn\'t change anymore. The cinemas were fantastic, but the in game camera angles were abysmal. Overall, this game is one of those that you rent. It isn\'t worth buying becuase once you beat it there is nothing to really go back and do. Sure there are secrets, but they\'re kinda dumb, comic book and TCG cards, nothing special. There\'s only one mode of difficulty so it\'s really not worth going through the game again. Anyway, if you are really into Star Wars, or your looking for a well polished Action-Adventure with some really great cinemas and sounds this is for you. Rent it though, or use the EB 14-day policy, its worth it to play definatly, but not worth owning.
Splintercell (XBOX): Can\'t say much about this, I played through training. This game is sooo cool, unfortunately my brother took off with the X-Box and I haven\'t played it since. A wonderful title, but I need to play it more before I review it.
As for today\'s purchases:
Mega Man Zero (GBA): I started to play this. This is a real tough Mega Man, but I\'m enjoying every moment of it. I was expecting this game to be somewhat of a dud, but it\'s turning out to be a GREAT GBA platformer. Any Mega Man fan should love this game, or if your looking for a Platformer, this is your game. I\'ll review it further once I beat it.
Skies of Arcadia Legends (GCN): Haven\'t removed it from plastic yet but I\'m interested to see what Sega did with its old classic. Check back with me in a few weeks, I\'ll let you guys know how things are going.
-
Latest purchases...
Escape from Monkey Island - PS2: I\'d to go on and on about how Monkey Island is a great series and how well this game fits in with it.. but unfortunately I don\'t own a PS2 yet so I haven\'t had a chance to play it. Kinda dumb to buy a PS2 game when you don\'t have a PS2 huh? Well, jus two more weeks till my next paycheck.... :)
Broken Sword - GBA: God damn I love BAM! Entertainment. After their stellar port of Wolfenstein 3D to the GBA, I was pleased to see their names in the credits for Broken Sword. Althought the complexities of porting a PC adventure game to the GBA seems to have proven a bit much for them. Don\'t get me wrong.. the game is still great.. it\'s just that Adventures (with the exception of Shenmue) have never been fully realized on consoles. Broken Sword is no exception. The graphics are very reminicent to the art style of Willy Beamish, and have translated nicely over beautifully despite the GBA\'s poor screen resolution. The storyline is completely intact.. along with all locations and dialouge from what I\'ve seen of it so far. Voices are absent, of course, but you can hardly expect that when it\'s a miracle they fit the whole game on a single dinky GBA cart. The real problem with Broken Sword is that you have no mouse cursor. Where once you had to pixel hunt with a mouse, you simply press either your L or R trigger to cycle through the "hotspots" on the screen. This makes the game very easy, as everything you need is simply laid out before you. The real meat of this adventure has been reduced to mere grissle IMO. Thankfully the story is captivating enough to keep the player engrossed in the game. Seems a nice mixture of the supernatural atmosphere of Gabriel Knight mixed with the sillyness of Simon the Sorcerer.
Resident Evil: 0 - NGC: I don\'t know why I bothered picking up this title.. I really don\'t. Resident Evil has been played out in my mind, but being the only semi-adventure game on the NGC I felt compelled to buy it. Thankfully the "Been here, Done that" feeling that I get when I play most Resident Evil games has been downplayed by a nice mix of original and fairly logical puzzles so far. (No moving statues to their proper touchplates to get Red Gems or Crests.. so far). Can\'t say I really care for being able to control two characters at the same time, but hopefully I\'ll become accustomed to it. Graphics are gorgeous.. as usual.. and while (I feel) the storyline is lacking.. at least it\'s something new so far. I\'ll reserve further judgement until I\'ve played it some more.
-
Latest aquisation;
Splinter Cell
Amazing game so far, I\'m about 1/3 of the way through and so far the combo of graphics and gameplay is unmatched in any game I\'ve played in this genre. (full review coming soon)
-
I am currently playing 007 Nightfire on my ps2. It is an amazing game, great graphics and weapons. Plenty of gadgets also. The driving sections are also a welcome addition as they break up the shooting mayhem to give you some light relief. IMO it is much more enjoyable than both Timesplitters 2 and Red Faction.

For Ashford, (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/117)
Love,
Ryu ;)
-
Much obliged...
I\'ve only been waiting since last year...
:p
-
Not a bad review although I disagree on the final score...
;)
-
After the fun I\'m having with Skies of Arcadia, I must dabble with Shenmue II, might pick that up next week or the week after along with the Sonic Mega Collection...
wow, Sega really has my number recently...
-
I knew you would, but at least it\'s done. ;)
-
Make sure you play Shenmue 1 first...
-
Hurricane, make sure you don\'t rush through the game. Take your time and enjoy all the interactive goodness. Because when you rush through the game, it comes out as being less than stellar.
-
I finally went out and bought NBA Street and TTT(mainly b/c they were $20) and I dont know why I waiting so long in the first place.
I also picked up Contra. While this has to be the game that has been the hardest for me to survive in years and VERY frustrating, it is worth every penny to me and only encourages me to work harder at it. Im actually happy its hard, I was kind of getting sick of playing games that I found to be way to easy regardless of how fun they were.
-
If I\'m still knee-deep in SOAL then I don\'t think I\'ll be stopping by EB other than to pick up a GBA game, which will be either Super Mario Advance 3 or Street Fighter Alpha 3. One of those two, along with Mega Man Zero(currently enjoying this challenging game) will hold me off til MM&B comes out.
-
I bought The f**king Getaway, cus I didn\'t have nuthin\' to do two days ago. F**k. Now, 2 days after the f**kin\' transaction that cost me 50 euros, I\'ve completed the game and am quite f**kin\'... confused? ****in\' yeah. Was it good or not or what? I\'m going with what here...
+ Moments of greatness that really seemed like glimpses of the future, some superb scenes...
- ...which crumble away onto the floor for you to stomp on thanks to superlatively dodgy controls and camera work.
- The musics often reminded me of Crash Bandicoot. Not good at least IMHO.
etcetcetc. Most of them minuses really.
At least personally, I could\'ve settled for a smaller piece of London, replicated in more detail...
Read the EDGE review, I\'m agreeing almost 100% with them.
-
Yeah, the getaway is a horrible game...the control especially sucks and the game just isn\'t fun.
-
Yeah, and sadly it happened to be one of Sony\'s more hyped games in 2003. GTA killer, yeah right! I don\'t want to see another "Sony 1st-party.. better than Nintendo?" thread until Sony\'s internal studios can make another game that\'s at least as good as ICO apparently is. Then they can try making AAA games for 20 years..
-
CRAP!
I wish I read these impressions before buying it...
-
Pretty big update. More reviews then impressions. Lets ROAR!
Guilty Gear X2 (PS2): Quite possibly the greatest fighter released in the past two years. I can\'t remember when I last had this much fun. It\'s stunning in just about every single way. Read this (http://sony.gamingtarget.com/previews/ps2.cgi?id=145) preview and read my review that will be posted next week. Expect something that glows. ;)
Capcom VS SNK 2 EO (Xbox): Yet another 2D fighter since the last update and this is roughly the same as the PS2 and GCN versions released before it with a couple of additions. First off is Live! support which is lag free. Second is an all new remixed soundtrack which is ripped from several old school Street Fighter games which is obviously very welcome. Finally, there\'s progressive scan support which makes the sprites look worse and the backgrounds even better. It\'s good and it\'s bad. Expect a review in a week or two after I get in some real quality Live! time with the game.
ATV2 Quad Power Racing (GCN): Haven\'t gotten into it too much, but it\'s mediocre at best. I\'ll have more full impressions with the review in a week or two.
Command and Conquer: Generals (PC): Amazing. Take the gameplay basics of Red Alert 2, mix it with the interface from Warcraft III, then rip out the god awful, yet often hilarious, FMV sequences and push that package out the door with one of the sweetest 3D engines I have seen for an RTS and that\'s what you have with Generals. It\'s absolutely amazing and I can\'t wait to really rip into this sucker. The requirements are a bit much, but with a great rig, you\'ll be looking at an amazing game.
With that said, time for the review links. Enjoy everyone until next time.
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=74)
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions (GCN) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/ngc.cgi?id=72)
Metroid Fusion (GBA) (http://nintendo.gamingtarget.com/reviews/gb.cgi?id=165)
War of the Monsters (PS2) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/119)
Shenmue II (Xbox) (http://intensity-magazine.com/reviews/117)
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!
-
Yeah... my disk came in, that means tomorrow I will pick up the following titles...
Ura Zelda (GCN)
C&C: Generals (PC)
Yoshi\'s Story (GBA)
possibilities depending on price...
ICO (GBA)
Shenmue II (XBOX)

I decided to go with a Platinum release for change, and I ended up balancing between DoA2 and THPS3. And since DoA2 sucks (personal opinion), I got THPS3. I had had a lot of fun with a demo of the game sometime in the past already, but I didn\'t in any way expect the game to be as much fun as I think it is. Superduper!

I bought Sly Raccoon last week. I was aiming for Burnout 2, but the copy I was going to buy turned out to be in pretty bad condition, and after a while of mean looks and ranting and raving, I walked away with the Raccoon game. Even got a little discount. Teehee...
Anyways... well... err... It\'s just Crash on steroids, right. What else can be said about it? Not great, by no means bad, pretty darn entertaining. That\'s it. Totalled it in 3 days... which wasn\'t nice :(
-
Here\'s a rundown...
Comand & Conquer: Generals (PC) - Need more playing time with this game.
Zelda: OoT/Master Quest (GCN) - Beat both, short review to come soon.
Skies of Arcadia Legends (GCN) - About 3/4 there, short review by next week hopefully.
Dark Cloud 2 (PS2) - Just picked up yesterday, nice little gem for collection. Wonderful game thus far.
-
jUST got atv2 for ps2 a couple of days ago the game is ok. I wouldn\'t suggest a buy only if your a hardcore off road fan.
Purchased Nascar thunder about 2 weeks ago that game rocks. I love it. Gets hard sometimes but I can\'t get enough of the game. Thunder has to be the best nascar game created so far.
Oh I forgot I got manopoly party about a month ago and it rocks. I mean when you have a bunch of friends over the game is very fun.
-
Got ASB 2004, Legends of Wrestling 2 and Jedi Knight II.
ASB 2004:
This is the most realistic baseball sim I have ever played...period. From the little neuances like the fingers of the batters gripping the bat, to brushing back a batter and having him charge the mound, leading to ejections. The games come out realisticly, no 20-0 blow outs. I actually just had my most exciting moment in sports game history. I was playing as the A\'s and I was up against the Mariners. Throuout the game I only had one hit, and was down 1-0. Going into the bottom of the ninth I was still looking for my second hit. My first batter (hattaberg) and got a lead off double, next batter popped up on a 2-2 pitch. I was thinking I was screwed, but out of no where, I cranked a game winning 2 run homer. I nearly shat myself.
LOW2: Well this game isn\'t No Mercy, but it isn\'t bad at all. It\'s quite a fun game that is full of nostalgia. If wrestling with your favorite wrestler from your youth isn\'t your cup of tea, then the actuall game play is good enough to warrant a purchase until Raw 2 comes out.
Jedi Knight II: I haven\'t played it all that much yet, but so far it seems damn cool. And it really gives you that magical Star Wars vibe....can\'t wait until the force powers and light saber are at my disposal.
-
Well, seeing as I\'ve only added ATV2 to my collection in the past few months, I would say that that fact in and of itself is indicative of how much I\'ve enjoyed this title.
Let\'s just say I haven\'t encountered a day where I feel like either buying another title or even playing one.

Interesting although I find Atv2 to be 10 times more better than the first. I still think it lacks a lot. The multi-player mode is not as fun as it should have been. Besides getting higher rankings and bikes there is not much more to the single player mode.

I don\'t really think it\'s necessary to give impressions any longer and keep up with time tables since life complicates things. Instead, I\'m just going to repost links to recent reviews I\'ve done. I also keep an updated list in my Journal. I will say which ones I have gotten that are new so you guys can look forward to future reviews on those, but it\'s hardly instantaneous. Anyways, here\'s the new stuff over the past couple of weeks...
New stuff:
Gameboy Advance SP (black)
Apex (Xbox)
Vexx (Xbox)

Ghost Recon;
Just got this, but so far the difficulty level is way up there. Once I get more play time in I\'ll give a review.

Well here\'s how things are going...
Mega Man & Bass (GBA) [/u] - I picked up this gem for the road. It should be a great compliment to MMZero. I\'ll tell you more when I get back from my trip.
Mega Man Zero (GBA) [/u] - Nearly finished with this one, a fantastic platoformer to say the least. It offers a more challenging style of MM games that some people desire. I was one of those. The gameplay is smooth. The graphics are top-notch for a GBA game, now we\'ll see how it compares to an old classic never before released in America(MM&B).
Skies of Arcadia (GCN) [/u] - I\'ve been off and on with this game but I\'m finally nearing the end. This game was very streaky for me, I was either SO into it, or just plain sick of it. So either way I\'ll probably finish this next week. There\'s really not that much left in the game. Now they just need to do something about random battles.
Splinter Cell (XBOX) [/u] - This game is great, but I only play it on rare occassions. This is the kind of game I like to take slowly. So I\'m about a third through, and won\'t finish for a while.
Command & Conquer: Generals (PC) [/u] - I LOVE THIS GAME. However, like some other games I don\'t really play it much. I\'ll really get some good time with this game in April-May and finally test my skillz online. More to come then.
Dark Cloud 2 (PS2) [/u] - Finally, the cream of the crop. My favorite game thus far of 2003, DC2 is turning out to be more than your everyday dungeon crawler. The weapon-upgrading system is awesome, providing you with multiple reasons to play this game over again. Graphics are sweet, the best cel-shading on ANY SYSTEM I\'ve seen. The gameplay is smooth, and loading times are not so bad. I rarely have a problem with camera angles too. This game overall deserves some contention for game of the year, I will be playing this one for a while.

The games I got this week are the first ones i\'ve purchased in months. I just picked up ZOE2 and XenoSaga and am impressed with both so far, probably moreso with Zoe2 than XenoSaga.
XENOSAGA
I\'ve probably only played Saga for about 2 hours and it\'s slow as hell so far, but i\'ve heard it will pick up soon so i\'m holding out hope. Kinda bummed that mechs don\'t play a big role in XenoSaga like they did in XenoGears, but i\'ll get over it. Graphics are very nice so far with very impressive cinemas (I better get used to watching those).
ZONE OF THE ENDERS 2
ZOE2 is a brand new beast to me, since i\'ve never played the original i\'m in awe of how fast and beautiful this game is. Being a causual anime fan this game has me hooked with it\'s style. I absolutely LOVE the mech designs and how manuverable and dynamic Jehuty is. The fighting is pure button-mashing, but there is an element of strategy and planning that goes into battles that I love. I still occasionally get mixed up with my controls, I guard when I intend to burst, and burst when I intend to throw an energy ball. I\'m sure i\'ll eventually get used to it. I\'ve heard it\'s a short game so i\'m replaying the first level several times, trying to perfect my fighting and defense, and to get my $50 worth.

I got a GameCube along with Metroid Prime.
All I can say really, is; wow. I had my doubts (as almost everyone did, right?), but damn, this IS a Metroid game, heart and soul. With an added D. Retro Studios seems to have done everything right, I got no complaints. Bravo.
Status : 30% throught the game already... lots to do here, yum :)
-
Clocktower 3 - Almost finished, but I keep putting it off. Rather boring game really.
Xenosaga - Too many damn cinemas, but I do really want to finish it..someday.
Auto Modeslita - Uhm...controls like shit..Avoid....terrible..
Zelda: The Wind Waker - Currently playing this and lovin\' it.

It\'s been ages since I\'ve last been to Helsinki, and now I went on a real spending spree once there...
This weekend I got :
Sonic Advance : I sacrificed my chances of getting A Link to the Past by getting this. Then again, I secured enough money to remain to get me 2 GC games. I\'ve only played a couple of levels with a couple of characters, and I\'m loving it very much. A great Sonic game again (after the horrible "Adventures"). The SP is a dream when travelling by train.
Super Mario Sunshine : It was cheap, that\'s all I have to say for myself. This isn\'t the next mario, this is Mario64 reheated with a twist, blah. At times I almost enjoy myself, but I can\'t shake the feeling that there\'s something almost fundamentally wrong here. And the graphics are so blah.
Resident Evil 0 : Some people probably know of my undying hatred for the RE style of gameplay (fights, mostly), but I never turn down a good story (!?), or bad acting. I didn\'t get much into this one, but was disappointed by (among other things); loading times, same choppy storytelling sequences, graphics (well, err, I was expecting more from the "much" touted light-shadow routines)... but it\'s RE, and I loved the first 2, and heard this is more like them than the later atrocities of the series. Here\'s to hoping.
Overall, then, I\'m a bit disappointed with these investments. Maybe I\'m just too tired after a long weekend to enjoy games to their fullest... me sleeeep now...

Might as well...
Since my last posting, I\'ve gotten, EyeToy, Silpheed : The Lost Planet and Haven : Call of the King. Silpheed and Haven were cheap secondhand purchases. Thank god.
Eyetoy is a superbly fun little toy. So simple I really can\'t say anything more about it. 8/10
Silpheed : The Lost Planet is... well, let\'s just say that "Treasure", doesn\'t always go with "high quality". OK\'ish graphics, annoying music (exceptionally so), and very unbalanced gameplay. Most of the time it feels too easy (even on "Hard"), and then it just literally blows you away and spits in your general direction with a really smug grin on it\'s jagged face. Disappointed. I need the new R-Type now more than ever. 6/10 so far.
Haven : Call of the King, yay! A good game has you going though different phases during the course of it\'s life in your console; you get annoyed, you get thrilled, you feel challenged, you feel overwhelmed, underwhelmed, surprise, empathy, it\'s a rollercoaster at best. Haven is like the biggest, flattest airport ever compared to those kind of games. Initially, I thought it\'d be a treat, many planets to explore and that, but it\'s all been masterfully funcked up, damn. Nothing feels like anything in Haven\'s worlds, everything is so... lifeless, bland, plain, simple, unchallenging. The only part that actually receives any notable mention from me is the Egypt-syle cavern, with one half-decent puzzle and hordes of bugs. 5/10 so far.
