For the last few months by PS2 hasn\'t been playing DVDs. PS1 games, PS2 CDs, and music CDs work fine, but not PS2 DVDs or movie DVDs. Today I bought a lens cleaner at Best Buys, but it only does its cleaning when its on track 3... and since its not a music CD I can\'t get to the individual tracks. It works fine on my comp and regular CD players. Is there anything I can do? Or will I just have to return it and get a new one? If so, what is a good one to get?
Thanks.

I opened it up and cleaned it by hand, but it still doesn\'t work.
BTW Thanks for the help guys GJ
-
Kiss your warentee good bye. Sony won\'t touch it anymore.
-
Lol theres no way for them to know. Everything is exactly the same as before I opened it. Besides I\'m not planning on sending it to Sony. I\'ll either try some other quick fixes or buy a new one and switch them.
I r evil

Try putting it vertical. Take a can of air to the inside. Clean the CDs?
Hope those work.
-
Tried it. Don\'t have any. Tried it.
Also I can\'t bring it to a store and switch it because:
1) Its an older model
2) Its got "Void" all over the sticker now.
Damn :(
/me cries

Send it to sony, they\'ll never know of your dirty deed.
-
I don\'t know about that... besides I want it for free :D
I\'m adjusting the voltage right now. Hopefully it\'ll fix it.... or destroy it... :/
-
I have disk read error on all the PS2 CD ROMS (blue disks). Any suggestions?
-
After adjusting the voltage I got everything to work, and well. Then..... something happened and it all went to hell. It doesn\'t play DVDs again, even after I tried a million things with the DVD voltage. Grrrrr argh ****

You guys could just buy a lens cleaner. Mines fixed every problem I\'ve had.
-

Read first post.

Hmmmm..... don\'t these problems happen alot, I\'ve heard of people\'s PS2\'s completley burning out due to dust probs.
Just try another lens cleaner.
-
God damnit people, read the first post before you reply with something.
-
I did read it, I said try ANOTHER lens cleaner. You said the one you bought before only cleaned on track 3 and you couldn\'t get your system to do that. Try getting a cleaner that\'ll clean by just popping it in.
-
Ok read the second post then. lol :p
Sorry for snapping at you.

No biggie man. But about your problem, it looks like you\'ve pretty much explored all your options. The only thing that\'s really left to do is send it into Sony, but it looks like it may cost you some money if they see that you\'ve opened it up. :(
-
Buddy mine does that too. It does the cleaning on track 3 but think about it for two seconds. When trying to read the disk, the disk is spinning. So it still is cleaning the lens.;)

If you opened your PS2 the sticker on the back will read ´VOID VOID VOID.´ meaning Sony will know if you send it to them.

I know... I guess I could just get a black sticker of about the same length and put it in its place. It won\'t be *too* noticable...
Besides its long past its warranty anyway.

It\'s hard to clean the lense if the cleaner can\'t be read.
