I have a virus on my computer. My mom told me that it\'s on and I can\'t figure out what it is doing. However, we can\'t destroy it. Can anyone help me out? The virus detector found it but can\'t destroy it. I also downloaded a patch for TIE Fighter and transfered it to another computer by floppy disk. Is my other computer in danger of getting the virus too?
-
what version of antivirus you using?
-
If you have Norton, you\'re supposed to download like a new patch once in a while.. Try to download the updated one and see if it can get rid of it.
-
what virus is it?
-
A new version of anti virus has been downloaded and the virus is quarentined. Now what? It was an e-mail virus. I don\'t open e-mails from people I don\'t know and I usually scan music I download.

WTF are you talking about? I had a lockup in a mission and downloaded a patch to fix it. I downloaded the wrong one though. If anyone can find a patch for TIE Fighter mission 7 operation 2 would be grately appreciated. I can\'t find one. PM me the link.

Delete the file that is in quarantine and do a new virus scan.
-
Get innoculate(sp?) PT or something, it\'s da shiznit, and it\'s free :)
-
Update your virus definitions. Scan your comp etc. Delete any quarantine files created. Scan again. Also try scanning in safe mode.. Some virus travel by hiding in system files. If all fails. Format your hd, and do a clean install. :)
PS, it\'s a good idea to format all partitions too.
-
bah, only newbs format
thats is the very last resort anyone should use

which part of, "If all Fails" didn\'t u understand? :)
-
MM, you should be nicer to Soulgrind. He carries glow in the dark batons you know. And they could hurt.
-
define "all fails"
giving up in frustrastion/lack of knowledge does not mean "all fails"
-
Gezz mm, you really know how to get alot of infomation outta "if all fails" But no, my if all fails would be when theres damage to you boot records, Master boot records, main system files that can\'t be restored etc. or your registry is screwed. :)
Yet, you have yet to give any advice.. So please inform us newbies on how to fix this virus problem.

noone had to reply after this, especially since he didnt answer it

Maybe you can inform him on what virus program to get, and how to use this program to remove the virus. :)
ps, Titan you may wanna remove the virus as quick as you can. it may not be a harsh one. but some viruses can cause damage to your bios, if you have a dual bios you will be ok. As the second one can be locked out. But if not, you computer may not boot at all.

jeez bro, do u lurk around hitting F5?
:)

if yer using an out of date or generic virus checker, use this
-
also, here\'s a nice little site that can help u adjust your firewall. https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
You can get viruses from trojin files etc. a good firewall always helps. My system runs in stealth. :) I haven\'t been unlucky enough to get a virus myself. I hope i never do get one. They\'re evil little buggers they are.

We should just rename this thread.

I\'m gonna delete it when I learn how to use Norton AntiVirus (my mom handles that stuff). It shouldn\'t take too long to learn it. I figured out how to scan. I have the newest version of Norton Antivirus. I\'ll try and delete it later. I\'m just afraid of doing something and then rereleasing the virus and bye bye computer.

I deleted the virus yesterday. My computer is fine now.
