I\'m gonna be buying a new HD soon. Now i\'m gonna choose between Seagate, Western Digital or Maxtor.
The hd i wanna get will be a 60 gig ATA100 7200rpm hd.
Now i have prices on the Seagate and WD hd. But not the Maxtor as i\'ve head they have problems..
The Segate one will cost around 180 and the WD will cost about 215. I haven\'t been able to benchmark any of them so i don\'t know which performs the best.
What do u guys think. do any of you have these hds? Which one should i get? I\'m leaning towards the Seagate, I\'ve already got a seagate hd, and i\'ve never had problems.

umm, the Seagate HD and WD HD are pretty close in specs. Only problem is that they are comparing a 60gig WD hd too a 40gig SG hd.. WD have 3 platter HD. Seagates 60gig HD is a 2 platter hd.
WD 60gig R/W times are faster, SG HD Access times are faster. But the 40gig SG hd Access, R/W times are faster then the WD 40 gig.. But cause they don\'t have the SG60gig hd.. I don\'t know if it\'s Access/R/W times are faster...
Dammit, They need to test the 60gig seagate hd.. :/

I\'ve got a ATA100 Maxtor and it\'s a good drive just a little on the loud side. Western Digitals are very quiet and I\'ve never had a problem with either.
But I would not use the initial formatting floppies that come with Maxtor disks as those have given me problems before.

My vote went to Seagate HDD. I purchased a 80 GB Seagate HDD 6 months ago and it works perfectly.

Seagate or WG....I just don\'t like Maxtor for some reason.

Western digital makes decent Harddrives.

I trust Western Digital for my hard drives they\'ve very dependable...I had a segate 8gb and it worked good...

yea, i\'ve currently got a 17.5 gig Seagate ATA66 7200rpm hd. I\'ll probably get a seagate hd. Might go for a 80gig instead. Should only be around 30 bucks more, that AUD (australian doller) :)
ahh, i donno. a friend is getting a seagate 60gig ata100 hd. So i\'ll benchmark it and see how it runs. I will probably end up with the seagate hd. :)
