The other day me and a friend were in EB and were looking at Medal of Honor Frontline and then we got into talking about that army game that\'s comming out in a few days. It\'s completely free cuz they say it\'s paid for with out tax dollars...but then I got to thinking. Even though the game is technically free with no strings attached as they say; well couldn\'t there be another purpose. I mean has anyone though about spyware in an advanced form. One of the sales people in the store over heard us and he thought the same thing. How hard would it really be for the army to add a simple program that would scan your pc for any "flag" words such as bomb, terrorist along with any major landmarks and holidays and such. Who knows maybe they could start keeping tabs on you since most people do have a lot of personal info on their pc\'s it\'s a really easy way to keep an eye on a lot of people at once. I know it seems far fetched but MS does it with their media player on XP logging which movies you watch with it(it sucks for movies like anyone would use it), but anyway I\'m just saying that because it seems really fishy. Nothing is free and added to the fact that you\'re downloading the game most people wouldn\'t even notice anything out of the ordinary infact they\'d probably even tell you in the legal agreement if they were to include any "extra" software and who really reads the legel mumbo jumbo, all we wanna do is play the game. Well maybe I\'m just being paranoid or whatever but I for one am not downloading this game.

Actually it might be cool, i mean its free :D

its a recruitment tool, nothing more
kids play videogames, and now they get a chance to get some training killing terrorists before they turn 17, and then the army can brainwash them

I see your point it an way it reminds me of that simpsons episode when Bart was in that boy band owned by the Navy and they used subliminal messages to get people to join:laughing:

I just checked out the link, and it didn\'t really answer my questions. I\'m wondering how close to the real thing this game is, will it be strategy and intel first, or will it be a feux strategy game.
-
I doubt the military would want to waste their time spying on a bunch of PC gamers. Anyway, the game sounds pretty cool and I\'m planning on getting it some how.
-
Doesn\'t look so bad, considering it\'s free..
-
I seriously doubt the military recieved millions of dollars in funding to spy on the average PC gamers porn collection. It is just the Army\'s way of keeping themselves in the public eye. With young males more into video game cops and robbers than going outside to play they have to do whats necessary to keep their bunks full.
BTW, For those that don\'t know. A "demo" version is coming out on July 4th. @ 0001 Zulu
Thats 8:01p EST on July 3

Army....?
War....?
Free....?
O this is soooo me! So do you go up to the stores and be like...ok can i have the game now?

Anyone ever see that movie "Toys" with Robin Williams? I wonder if that\'s what the Amry could have planned for the future. I mean.. the PS3 is going to be a totally online console.. what if they made it to where instead of jus flying a sim jet shooting down terrorists.. you were actually remote controlling a sortie with bunch of machineguns strapped to it. No need for soldiers.. let America\'s video gaming elitists fight our wars for us.
That takes care of a TON of problems.. makes a totally blood free war (for us anyhow) and best of all.. most anyone can join. No worries about flat feet, athesma, ect..
OMG.. I would sign up in a heartbeat. *Goes back to playing A10 Tank Killer*

already doing that...to an extent. with the UCAV (unmaned combat air vehicle) they can fly an entire flieght with just one pilot a thousand miles away on a computer. We\'re entering the Nintendo Wars people, and people thought we were wasting time playing video games, when in actuality all we\'re doing is constantly training.

Well when it\'s released you can download it from the Army\'s website, or you can write the Army and ask for it, or you can visit your local recruiting office or some recruiting event and ask for it (not going to happen), or you could just pick up a issue of PC Gamer or Computer Gaming World or whatever your favorite PC mag is and get it from their demo disk.

Go to a recrtuiter? Not bloody likely. They are already herassing me every day callin me, sending me fliers and the likes. I know there\'s not much difference between a cop and a soldier, we both risk our lives and the such, but I want to make good money doing it, and also be able to hit on chicks who are going a bit over the speed limit.

I thought I told you not to tell anyone last night. Sheesh. :D J/K
It looks more like a gun-ho game, rather than a strategy, but with teamwork involved.

I read more about it, and I have to say gun-ho, is the perfect word for it. I think they are marketing the game to the gaming marks, so it\'s abit of a no-brainer type of game. you plan a little bit, then go in w/ guns a blaze\'n. which really isn\'t my cup of tea....but since I\'m a californian i guess it wouldn\'t be my cup of low fat, white chocolate cappucino with extra foam.
-
Ur not into all gun-ho? A rogue spear fan eh? Yeah half of the people that join the army are all brains and no brawn, wait I said that wrong didnt I?
-
Rambo games are fun for a a little while. After a few hours they get old though. Doing the same thing, run and shoot. Ah well, gives good entertainment for the first 30 minutes. And it\'s free, supposedly. *Me wonders what the catch is*
-
Yeah, there is probably some thing in the warranty thingy saying "I will sell my soul to the army and become a mindless slave for eternity"
Just thinking: Couldn\'t you get the game, and probably sell it to someone? Or pawn it? Easy money :D

That would be the dumbest idea ever.....
think about it...what if these people playing the game got bored and decided to have a little fun with there fellow comardes and country.
-
Damn Square.. you don\'t think they\'d be monitered? There could be people sittin back in some dark smokey offices over there in the middle east with full control just to make sure nothing went amiss. Kinda like the brakepedal in the passangerside of a Drivers Ed car ya know?

I\'ll take almost anything that\'s free.

This reminds me of that great novel Ender\'s Game where
*SPOILER* LOL
the kids think they are training in a RTS strategy game but are really commiting Xenocide by destroying a whole race of aliens. I love that book man.
