Okay, I\'ve been over the story again and again trying to put all the pieces together. Everytime I feel like I understand it, another question comes up.
Tom G and I have been discussing this a little bit and niether one of us can come up with a definitive conclusion.
Here\'s what we got so far:
Me:
I didn\'t fully understand the concept of Tidus being a dream. I know he is a product of the fayth dreaming and I knew why he disappeared in the end. But how did he become a dream in the first place?
Tom G replied:
As far as I understand it, Spira and Zanarkand (sp? I know, I know, an expert can\'t spell a FF X term) existed just as it did in Yuna\'s time, up until it was destroyed by Sin. At that point, in order to preserve their perfect society, the fayth began to dream the world Tidus is from. So time sorta stood still in the dream world, and in the real world (Yuna\'s) things went on as was, with the taboo teachings of Yevon taking advantage of everything.
What I don\'t understand is why/how Jecht ended up in the real world. I suppose it was because of fayth. Then he got caught up in the struggles of Spira, and changed into the caring man he was at the end of the game. There wasn\'t any special reason why either Tidus or Jecht were chosen by the fayth.
Or maybe there is. As shown in the Japan only FFX international, Tidus may actually be "alive". Sometime after the events of FFX Kimahri gives Yuna a sphere recorded by Tidus.
Me:I didn\'t save my outgoing PM.
I replied with another question...has Tidus always been a dream? Was he killed in the attack on Zanarkand 1000 years ago and "preserved" by the fayth up until the point where the game begins?
Tom G replied:
You starting to sound like me after playing Xenogears. Took me 5 trips through the game before I finally understood the story. The other day I was looking at Gamefaqs and noticed that there was still a whole lot I had missed! Oh well, another reason to fire it up for a sixth time.
Each original member of Zanarkand became a fayth, and got stuck on that wall or something. The fayth that is dreaming Tidus is undoubtedly that kid in the hooded outfit ("Don\'t cry. You\'re gonna cry."-Remember?). Even more intresting is the fact that that particular fayth is also Bahamut.
Was that kid actually Tidus? It coulda been. Both young Tidus and the fayth had the same voice actor...hmm, the plot thickens.
more questions...
Anyone have some insight or a different view on FFX\'s story?
I would have put this in Hints, Help, and Cheats or whatever, but this place gets more traffic...and I can prune the thread if so needed:p
-
Wait so Titus died? And was a thing that the little kid who was Tidus made up? :confused:
-
Thanks for that input Cloud345. You\'ve really saved the day. :laughing:
-
Your welcome :)
-
but he was in the water right at the END (well in the Euopean version anyway)
So were the HADES is he ?
me confused :(
-
Yeah, more questions. Hopefully those FFX spinoffs won\'t be Japan only...but I\'m betting they are.
-
at the end of the game were you see Titus ...i just hope that he finds himself near Luca so that he can be with Yuna :crying: :crying:
-
You know, I was thinking about this somemore. As to how Tidus might be reborn...
Maybe he was a fayth, and then he woke up, which is what we see in the end. Just a thought...
-
Why dont you just ask square to explain it in an e-mail?
-
Will they do that?
-
I dont know but its worth a try.
-
Great.. you guys are getting way too deep :p
Jecht was sucked into the real world by Sin (the previous sin ten years ago). Tidus never existed neither did his father. He was just a product of the Fayth dreaming him up. Being sucked out by Sin allowed him to exist in the real world. Kind of like how Auron and others were allowed to exist even tho they were dead.
At the end of the game he reappears underwater. Was he in the afterlife? I doubt it, more likely it will be explained in the spin-offs. But if he is alive it would be some sort of miracle of the Fayth and the fact that he became so powerful (more powerful than Jecht?)
-
You didn\'t tell us anything we didn\'t already know... ;)
The fayth dreaming and being an "unsent" are 2 different things. Unsent are just that- dead who are not sent to the farplane. They have some strong emotional attachment to the living world that kept them from going. For Auron, it was his will to take care of Tidus, like he promised to Jecht.
Seymour is a confusing one. Why exactly did he never leave? Was it because of his mother dying? Or his desire to destroy the world? And here\'s a another question- did your group kill him at the macalania temple, or was he already dead?
Eek! MORE questions! :eek:
-
You didn\'t tell us anything we didn\'t already know...
Screw you!.. ;)..
What I don\'t understand is why/how Jecht ended up in the real world
And i answered it f0cker! so stfu! ;)
~~~
And yes i know they are two different things i was just drawing comparison because of the face that in both instances you existed in the real world when you werent supposed to.
And your other questions arent really relevant at all. Knowing whether Seymore was already dead (he wasnt) is just out of curtiosity? :) The reason he stayed was his strong desire for the world of spira.. kinda of like the other Maesters.
-
How do you know he was already dead? :)
And we know HOW Jecht got to spira, what we wondered was WHY. Just a freak accident?
And yes i know they are two different things i was just drawing comparison because of the face that in both instances you existed in the real world when you werent supposed to.
Oh. :shy:
And no more freaky pm\'s, ok? ;)
-
:D i saw various people online and thought they could get a nice little erotic message :D
He wasnt dead. Im pretty sure they tell you, otherwise its implied.
I thought he went purely by accident. Sin sucked him in after Sin appeared for the first time (im pretty sure) while he was out at sea. And he obviously didnt WANT to be there, so its not like he had any say in it.
-
with any luck, these questions will be answered the sidestories.. at least they better be!
-
Well, it\'s good to know I\'m not alone on this.
Jecht was sucked into the real world by Sin (the previous sin ten years ago). He was just a product of the Fayth dreaming him up. Being sucked out by Sin allowed him to exist in the real world.
Why would Sin pick somebody from a dream world?
Tidus never existed neither did his father.
Wouldn\'t they have had to in order for a fayth to be dreaming about them?
-
Dammit Ginko its not that confusing you are asking questions that are pointless!! ..*gets whip..... uhh.. for unrelated matters*..
Being a dream, if he once did exist im sure they would have told us that. Telling a story in a videogame is a lot different to telling a story in a movie/book etc. You have to let the gamer assume facts. If they dont tell you he existed, then he didnt :) (unless in the spin-offs they do.) But so far there is nothing to suggest that he did. But there are many subtle suggestions that he is made up by the Fayth.
And its not really dreaming. More just using their imagination. In the real world (earth?) Humans cant dream about anything that they havent seen (or perhaps imagined - through description). But you can imagine anything you want (and believe me.. i do! ;)). But they invented all these people and then let these people do what they want. Perhaps when the dreaming started 1000 years ago (im assuming) their dreams were based on people that existed. But because they let those people do what they want rather than control it, those people produced their own people.. and eventually Tidus.
Golly gee I\'m typing a LOT of bull**** :D I dont even know if that makes sense! (and it probably doesnt)
Youve gone in deeper than you are supposed to Ginko.. only God may help you now.
Why would Sin pick somebody from a dream world?
God bless Square for making the spin-offs. Although they probably still wont explain this. My guess would be that the Fayth wanted Jecht to go to the real world, in hope that HE would end their suffering. But when he didnt, they had to go with Tidus.
At the start of the game Auron appears to be summoning or helping Sin, something like this might have happened with Jecht, but it was never shown. Youre just supposed to assume dammit!
Hey Ginks.. are you gonna buy the spinoffs?
-
I actually thought about this, but since I\'m not sure...I question it.
It\'s the games\' fault, I\'ve never had this much trouble grasping an RPG\'s story.
I thought of this too, but since I\'m not sure...I want to KNOW!!! It would be cool if they made prequels and sequels to this game. It\'s got so many possibilities.
At the start of the game Auron appears to be summoning or helping Sin, something like this might have happened with Jecht, but it was never shown. Youre just supposed to assume dammit!
And what does assume mean boys and girls? It makes an ass out of u and me.
Hey Ginks.. are you gonna buy the spinoffs?
The game has grown on me quite a bit...I\'ve been through it it 1.5 times:p While I won\'t finish it again, I do appreciate it more and have a huge interest in the story.
I will buy the spin-offs, I just hope they answer a few questions.
ask if you brought the hand-cuffs too!
But is Jecht isnt real........that means all of Zanarkand, Auron and all of Spira isnt real because all the people in those places knew him.
I am now at an all time high in being confused. :confused:
Not if Jecht was dragged into the real world to later meet Auron.
-
There are so much easier explanations that what we are talking about.
Did you ever think that Auron died but the fayths dreamt him to guide Tidus to Spira and destroy his father (sin/yevon) and after Tidus killed Sin the fayths allowed him to travel back in time to Zanarkand? That wquld be alot easier to understand.
-
Tidus is a summon. In the ending when Yuna was whistling she was trying to summon him. The extra disc in FFX Japanese version has Kimhari finding Tidus in a summon ball.
Auron did die, at the hand of Yunalesca when he fought beside Braska and Jecht. Remember Jecht asked Auron to watch after Tidus, so that\'s what kept him around.
And I thought Jecht, as Sin, allowed Auron to go into the dream world to get Tidus...Remember when they are being sucked up off the bridge and Auron asks something like "Are you sure?" directed at Sin?
That would go along nicely with Tom G\'s
"Each original member of Zanarkand became a fayth, and got stuck on that wall or something. The fayth that is dreaming Tidus is undoubtedly that kid in the hooded outfit ("Don\'t cry. You\'re gonna cry."-Remember?). Even more intresting is the fact that that particular fayth is also Bahamut. "
You guys are thinking to much. Why did Tidus and Jecht have to be products of the fayths? Why cant they just be normal people? Bahumat\'s fayth and tidus as a little kid looked nothng alike. Why couldnt it be thats Tidus was real and so was Jecht throughout the whole entire game.Auron died but Sin (Jecht) let him travel back in time to look over Tidus and than let Jecht decide whether Tidus should travel to Spira to destroy him. You guys are making it a lot more complex than it really is.
-
If they weren\'t then that would contradict the ending...at least with Tidus it would. He knew he was going to disappear after the fayth woke up...and he did.
Why cant they just be normal people?
He came from Zanarkand, which is a dream of the fayth since it was destroyed 1000 years ago in present Spira.
-
Bahumat\'s fayth and tidus as a little kid looked nothng alike. Why couldnt it be thats Tidus was real and so was Jecht throughout the whole entire game.
Because they are NOT normal people. They are dreams.
The fayth that guided tidus and the fayth that is Bahamut are one and the same. But is Tidus a summon or a fayth? Clowd seems to support that answer. I\'m thinking it could be true. Remember what the fayth says to him. "You and your father are more than just dreams now." MORE questions! :eek:
Auron died but Sin (Jecht) let him travel back in time to look over Tidus and than let Jecht decide whether Tidus should travel to Spira to destroy him.
There was no time travel involved. Zanarkand (Tidus\' world) exists as Spira\'s did, but its not in the past. Its just an alternate dream world.
You guys are making it a lot more complex than it really is.
Intresting comment considering you don\'t seem to understand whats going on.;)
-
I\'m thinking it could be true. Remember what the fayth says to him. "You and your father are more than just dreams now." MORE questions!
jaw hits the floor
I remember that!! And being that Jecht was Braska\'s final Summon would make it seem that Tidus could be something similar now.
-
So what if I have no idea what you guys are talking about and Im making smething up so I can understand one post in this thread. ;)
-
Cloud345, think of Tidus\' Zanarkand as a parallel universe. It is a preserved state of Zanarkand produced by the dreams of the fayth.
-
Exactly. And remember what Clowd said. How Yuna was whistling at the end of the game? This would explain the significance of the scene after Luca. And it would explain why Tidus comes outta the water, right? Yuna is standing there, whistling to the ocean. Then Tidus hears it, wakes up, and begins coming outta the water! Oooh, goosebumps! I think we\'re on to something!
-
Its too complex for me...... :(
-
But Tidus was actually a product of the S3 simulation, it was all planned so that he could be a super soldier.
-
So Tidus is a summon? Thats easier to understand than the rest of the thread....
-
Here, I\'ll confuse you again. Why/When did he go from dream state to summon?
-
O_O;;;; NO! I missed the best thread ever! I hate you guys. :(
I support the theory that Tidus is a summon.
His desire for power.
I support the theory that Tidus is a summon.
I was wondering when you were going to join in...
Anyway, when in the game did you think this happened? Was he always a summon?
As you can see, we all still have some questions so feel free to help us out.
-
At the end when yuna whistles or something......someone said that I think it was chrono or clowd.
-
Tidus is a summon. In the ending when Yuna was whistling she was trying to summon him. The extra disc in FFX Japanese version has Kimhari finding Tidus in a summon ball.
see tidus is a summon
-
Okay, that\'s a nice fit for the ending...
"You and your father are more than just dreams now." MORE questions!
BUT, since the kid (fayth) had told this to Tidus earlier on in the game...doesn\'t it make you wonder when it happened?
-
Ginko.. i just cant believe you thought the storyline was stale. Its quite deep. Did you skip all the cut-scenes/75% of the game?
Slaps Bobby
I wouldn\'t have started this thread if I didn\'t have an interest in the game!
It\'s weird...I picked up a PS2 and FFX in Feb and beat it in 2 weeks. I played through FFX with a bias against Sony (I know, it\'s stupid) so naturally I was going to be jaded against any story it through at me. I didn\'t bother looking past the surface of the story, so it seemed somber and uninspired to me.
Well, for some odd reason I decided to pick the game up again in mid-May. I\'ve been hooked on FFX since, and my PS2 for that matter.
-
*takes your slap - runs his hands over your chest*
That\'s my boy!
I knew you were once biased against Sony! (like i think i said in my PM\'s) *nods solemly at his greatness*
Yes, I was...for the quick demise of DC.
Enough of this...back to the interweaving story of FFX!!
-
lol :D
Well lets see.. Jecht was a dream.. then Sin sucked him out. He became a summon (Braskas summon) so was therefore more than a dream.
Tidus was a dream, was sucked out by Sin..
But if he became a summon, why did he still disappear when Yu Yevon was killed and the Fayth stopped dreaming? Perhaps the fayth were the ones that summoned him. But no, that leads no where. If he became a summon it was because he was more than just a dream.. so how did this happen? I guess there are only a couple of possible solutions. He became powerful, really powerful. A miracle of the fayth. The love between him and Yuna. Wasn\'t there some undying love connection at one point? I dunno, ive been doing side-quests more than anything recently so ive forgotten.
*performs helicopter action with penis*
-
Zanarkand existed in the world we know as Spira, right?
Did Tidus really live in Zanarkand or is he just a product of the dream of the fayth reliving Zanarkand in a dream?
-
He was a product of the Fayth.
-
ROFLMAO!!
He became powerful, really powerful. A miracle of the fayth. The love between him and Yuna. Wasn\'t there some undying love connection at one point?
Remember "The Spring" FMV? Where him and Yuna are floating throught he water, something else could have happened at that time...
thinks of the same scene but with me and bob
Zanarkand existed in the world we know as Spira, right?
Yes, 1000 years ago.
Did Tidus really live in Zanarkand or is he just a product of the dream of the fayth reliving Zanarkand in a dream?
Best I can come up with is that he was killed in the destruction of Zanarkand 1000 years ago. He "lives" on because of the fayth dreaming.
-
Remember "The Spring" FMV? Where him and Yuna are floating throught he water, something else could have happened at that time...
Is that the one where he totally took advantage of her while she was in an vunerable state??
*starts crying...*
Are you trying to suggest that being a summon is some kind of sexually transmitted disease??? Man.. Yuna was loaded with those goodies. She had to be the host. Kinda like the monkey from Outbreak. That slut..... Lulu i could see.. but Yuna? Oh man.. :(
*quickly looks up at Ginko then starts crying again*
-
Is that the one where he totally took advantage of her while she was in an vunerable state??
Yes...
Are you trying to suggest that being a summon is some kind of sexually transmitted disease??? Man.. Yuna was loaded with those goodies. She had to be the host. Kinda like the monkey from Outbreak.
LOL!!!!!!
It could have something to do with it...not really the sexual aspect but the connection they made. Undying love?
comforts bob, then starts running my hand...
-
So now she can summon Tidus whenever she wants for some of that Summon loving.. *pictures some hardcore bahamut action*
Well.. we are making inroads here /me thinks! I\'m sure if i played through the whole game again i could answer all these questions, but because i havent seen these cut-scenes in weeks its a bit fuzzy
*kind of like Ginko\'s...*
-
I\'ve definitely picked up alot more info and game makes much more sense...damn spin-offs can come quick enough.
I\'m going to go to the Sphere Theater and watch some of those cut scenes again...
going to lock door and watch "The Spring" with bob in mind
-
hahah
Ive played through the game 70 hours.. and have recently discovered i missed some things at the start that are required to get all the summons.. :(
*always \'springs\' with Ginks in mind*
-
Just 70 hours Bob? My time is already 119 hours. :D
Course, now Nu\'s gonna come back and blow me away with some incredibly high number....
Anyway, back to Tidus being a summon. One question is how/why is he still "alive"? Well, maybe its the obvious- his strong feelings for Yuna kept him from going, um, whereever it is dreams go. Maybe he was one of those things on the wall, and instead of him "dying", he stayed around as a summon. Like Auron or Seymour.
-
i stoped at 70 because i missed things!
plus it hasnt been out here as long!
The Eternal Calm: Final Fantasy X Another Story
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The scene opens with Yuna at Besaid Beach practicing to hold her breath,
thinking to herself when Wakka suddenly comes and tells Yuna to hurry to the
temple. There, she meets a man named Tasugio who then tells her about how
much he disapproves the fact that his grandson had joined a group called the
Young Person\'s Alliance instead of New Yevon.
After that, Yuna was once again given some time alone to think when Wakka
comes and tells her that somebody was looking for her. The man happens to be
Yeivel, a messenger from the alliance. He then asks Yuna if she wants join
their group, but gets turned down.
Rikku, who had traveled around Spira teaching people how to use machines and
excavating materials to rebuild Home suddenly shows up and starts greeting
both Yuna and Wakka excitedly. Soon after, she takes out a movie sphere that
Kimahri had found at Mount Gagazet, then shows it to Yuna.
We now see Tidus locked up inside a cage that was underwater (at least that\'s
what I think) because of using machina. He was begging for them (I wonder who
they are) to let him out to see Yuna.
Having seen this, the group decides to find out whether or not it was really
Tidus they saw. Rikku soon manages to convince Yuna to go with her to Mount
Gagazet after a heated argument with Wakka about the matter.
Yuna, somewhat satisfied thinks to herself about the fact that she could
always ask for more than what she already has, as she sets out to find
Tidus.
Well? Any thoughts guys? :confused:
-
Holy Chit!
Those side stories are going to have one sweet story. Obviously based around who "they" are..
I\'ll save my thoughts until others have commented :)
-
I thought Rikku was getting her own game?
I\'m not pissing myself yet, but knowing Yuna and Tidus will meet again is cool and we\'ll get to see Spira in it\'s rebuilding phase...I just hope they keep us informed of what everyone\'s been doing since FFX. And maybe introduce a new character or two.
-
Hmm I hope they give it a world map, sort of like the calm lands. I wasnt a big fan of the linear map in FFX, what is a FF game without a world map?
btw, I dont think we will be able to fully understand the FFX story line yet. Square just left too much unaswered
EDIT: oh yeah from what I heard Lulu is pregnant with Wakka\'s child
-
yep, i heard that too.
Anyway, \'bout that EP cd. Who might they be? Well, it says that Tidus is imprisoned by "them" for using forbidden machina. And Wakka was dead set against Yuna going to find Tidus. Remember Wakka\'s attitude towards machina? :confused:
-
*prays that Auron makes an appearance*
New Yevon perhaps?
Do I foresee a bitter seperation? Maybe Wakka joins this New Yevon and sets out against Yuna and Rikku...
Lulu, pregnant?!?! That more than likely means she won\'t be a playable character...ah geez, I really liked her too.
As for Auron, it would be cool if he made a cameo but not a playable character...IMO anyway.
-
I\'m still bitter Auron wasnt the final boss..
after the first 10 minutes of the game he would have made an AWESOME villain.. competition for Sephiroth, Kefka (and to a lesser extent Kuja ;)).. Summoning a huge wave to fire at an unsuspectin city, befriending Tidus and then sending him into some nightmare world.... IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE!!!
:)
-
I feel the same way...he had the look and everything. Hopefully the new baddie will be closer akin to Sephiroth, Kefka, and the likes...oh yeah
KUJA\'s bEtAR!!
-
hahaha :D
In 12 they better have a really personal rivalry. Thats what made FF7 so memorable. As much as they tried in the others (except 8) they never reached that level of bitter hatred and the need to overcome this person, not just to save the world.. but for yourself.
Auron woulda had all that :D Ahh well, he still rates as one of the greatest characters of all time :)
-
I would be suprised if they ever reach the level of hatred you garnered for Sephiroth again...
After Aeris was murdered (grinds teeth), it was so on!!
-
She was so sweet.. and innocent, doing the most humble of things (praying) and he fell from the roof.. with one swoop... MURDERED HER! :mad: :( YOU SON OF A *****!! YOU SON OF A ***** KILLED HER! YOU ****ING JOKE OF A TRAVESTY OF A HUMAN BEING!! :mad: :( YOU KILLED THE ONE THING ON THIS EARTH SO PURE AND WHOLESOME!! YOU SAW THAT WHITE LIGHT OF SANCTITY.. AND YOU SNATCHED IT AWAY!! GOD DAMMIT!! HOW COULD YOU!!! :crying: .. hoow.. could.... yoooou :crying:
:crap:
That made it personal, and made the thought of revenge that much sweeter.
Sure, FFX had some villages destroyed along with some people, but there wasn\'t any attachment to them. Same with FFIX, no connections.
I\'m thinking that since people will already have had back story on FFX\'s characters, the emotional attachments will be much greater for "Another Story" and make it all the more engaging.
licks bobs\' tears from his face
-
That whole scene was to distract you from Jenova, FF7\'s true enemy. Sephiroth was just a puppet in the whole thing, just like Cloud.
READ (http://home.bip.net/indish/analys.htm)
Think about it, though... Did you think about Jenova even once for the rest of the game? Even when you fought her spawns those two times? Most people completely ignored her, they just were just anxiously awaiting the fated battle between Sephiroth and Cloud... Read that analasys. You\'ll thank me later.
... You two are troubled. :p
-
Wow Nu.. i read through all that, and i must say.. I am amazed.
I always suspected something like that was existing (although i wont try and say that i knew :p).. but i had no idea it was that deep, and i never bothered to try and analyse it all myself.
Needless to say that Jenova = Greatest villain of all time :p
I wonder if Square put as much effort into all their other games. I\'m sure with FF8 they did, but because they tried too hard created just a bad game.
Truely a masterpiece.. :)
*Turns his back on Ginko - loves Nu now*
GAWD! i was about to go to bed, but now i wont be able to sleep :(
-
... * Nu steps away from Bob.
Yeah, but most people don\'t know about that. I saw it when I first played, but never bothered to look into it. But then I found this analasys, and I was like "... Wow, that\'s what I was thinkin\' way back when." Great read.
-
How do they know humans were sucked into the life stream it was just a bright light I am going into denial
-
Uh, that was just one of the possible simple endings. Read the whole thing, Clowd.
... And didn\'t you leave?
-
I thought that Yuna had sex with Kimahri to spawn a new Tidus.
-
That was a good read, if a bit disturbing. Whoever wrote that faq has WAY too much time on their hands.
BTW, Nu, you know any similar Xenogears faq\'s?
-
I\'ll look around. I\'m sure many people could use one. ;)
-
Playing the ending again last night, a bunch of thoughts went through my mind:
- when Kimahri left Tidus and Yuna alone in that pond, what if they actually had sex? Could Yuna be carrying Tidus\' unborn child?
- Could Tidus actually have been a summon? When Jecht is defeated, Yu Yevon attempts to possess the other aeons. You then have to destroy them in order to get him to show himself. After all of Yuna\'s aeons are gone, why not just possess Tidus?
- But on the flip side, after Sin dies and Yuna begins her "ultimate sending", all of the aeons are shown floating around. The game then moves to a scene showing the statues in each temple as they solidfy into stone. As each does, the fayth vanish, then the respective aeon "dies", or bursts into pyreflies. After that, the game shifts to the wall of fayth (on Mt Gagazet). As that wall solidfies a bunch of watery-looking orbs float off screen, each containing a person. Tidus is one of those people. He then fades into pyreflies and dives off the ship. So that makes him a summon?
