When is the next great game like FF7 going to come out?

A game that good hasnt come out since it,  when is  the FF7 \'killer\' going to be released?

I think about this a lot.  And i have come to the conclusion that IMO there will never me another RPG that is better than FFVII.....kind makes me feel a bit depressed.

Everything about it was the best.

Best magic system - Materia
Coolest summons/ summon system - everyone could summon.
Cool weapons
Best Plot - Most important key in FFVII\'s dominance
Coolest villian -  Sephiroth just kicked ass
Coolest hero -  Cloud had an interesting backround witch played a key part in the story line
Best side quests - Chocobos, golden saucer

.....even the music was the best.

everything about it kicked ass.

FFVII was the best RPG I\'ve ever played. As soon as FFVIII came out I got it thinking I would have a game as good as FFVII but I was disappointed. FFVIII,FFIX, and FFX all were disappointing to me. I doubt if we will ever see another game as good as FFVII.

Xenogears is better. Better plot, memorable characters, villians even more evil than Sephiroth, loads of sidequests and secrets, 2 different battle systems, characters designed by whomever it is that did Gundam Wing, and a fantastic soundtrack.

I love FF7. One of my favorite RPG\'s ever. Easily on my top 10 list. But to those who haven\'t played Xenogears, you are missing out on the best RPG of all time...

Well, next to Persona 2.

Oh just to tell you the game that is going to be better than ff7 may not even be made. It\'s not been confirmed but once it is then there is your FF7 killer.

Can\'t kill a classic. Remember, there are plenty of people that say III/VI is still the best. I feel Square really tried to top VII with VIII but it ended up being hated for the changes as much as it was loved, which resulted in Square playing it safe by going a bit retro with IX. That didn\'t quite work either. Outside of RPGs a game that took the field of paly to another level was  ICO. To bad so far it has sold like crap.

Another breakthrough title in the genre will be tough and it might take the next level of technology to do it ( I\'m thinking of the huge leap from SNES to PSX was a big part of the success of VII ) Or maybe the next killer RPG will release this fall and we just haven\'t caught wind of it yet.

To put it simply, I dunno

Yeah. Suikoden 3, Xenosaga, and Wild Arms 3 could be it. We just have to wait and see.

You understood wrong.  The second disk of FFX in Japan is an extended FFX ending, nothing more

Chances are Clowd, you are not going to like any game better than FF7 because you have developed an emotional attachment to it.  And because you are so stubborn.

Its made by Square and Disney I think and has Disney as well as Final Fantasy characters in it.

He said dont let the Disney part fool you it is a great game even though summons include Bambi,  etc

He said it was Squares best creation since FFVII

I disagree.  While this WAS a fun game, the story sucked.  It was not true to FF games.  This was like a HORRIBLE version of FF6 with side games.  I personally think FF4 had the best battle system.  FF6 the best story.

Post by: Tom on July 06, 2002, 06:42:06 PM
FF4,5, 6, and probably 1-3 had the same battle systems. Actually, they aren\'t that much different from the PSX games. And whaddya mean "Not True" to the FF games?

Yeah, nobody understands Esco. Best to ignore him, maybe he\'ll go away. ;)

I like all the FF\'s, but Tactics had to be the most ingrossing for me.

Well for one, FF was made to be a D&D like game.  You had Cicel, who was a warrior, Rosa, a Cleric, Tellah, An Grand Wizard, Ryder, a summoner.  Edge, the rogue.  Those who cast magic had **** for attack.  Those who would whomp had **** for casting (if any)
Title: Final Fantasy VII
Post by: Esco on July 06, 2002, 07:19:23 PM
Also, in FF7, the story made NO sense.  One moment you are after shinRa, then you are after Sephiroth.  The story line made NO sense, and I can write a better story (I can barely get one chapter before mine goes to ****, longer then FF7...)
Title: Final Fantasy VII
Post by: Tom on July 06, 2002, 07:24:56 PM
Well, for one thing Cecil was a Dark Knight, Rosa was a White Mage, Kain was a Draggon, Edge was a ninja, Rydia was a summoner, etc. Just to clarify. ;)

Second, the same could be said about FF4 (as much as I love that game). First you start out working with the empire, then you have to beat it, then you have to gather the crystals to save the world from some jerk you just read about. Its the same in each FF game. They\'re called plot twists. FF7 grew from a simple inner city conflict, to a save the world kind of thing (sort of. I mean, the world was saved, but the human race was wiped out. Thanks for nothing, Holy  ). I loved each and every story in each successive FF. \'Cept FF5. It had a majorly weak story.

I was disappointed in a way with FFX.
Even though it\'s a challenge, it still doesn\'t offer the challenge that FFVII offered.
The beautiful cutscenes in FFX like the one where Yuna walks on water and summons the spirits or the action packed sequence where the Sin creature destroys the huge cannon on Luca were great but then you get back to the game and well lets just say all the save points were too close...
But I suppose it helped...
Overall, I felt down about it and to be honest the graphics were a huge leap from PSone, but gameplay wasn\'t.

There\'s already a better RPG than FF7.

Its called Grandia 2.

Innovation and a battle system light years ahead of FF.

Yea, the battle system was incredible, the story line, however, was sub-par at best.

Final Fantasy 7 will never be remade. First it was a rumor. Then it was fact. Then it was stated in a press release that It would be another japan exclusive. When PlayOnline\'s progected cost trippled they cancled the remakes. So no remake of Final Fantasy 7, 8, or 9 is being released for the Platstation 2. That ladies and gentlemen is fact.
