Title: Sony Denies PlayStation 3 Rumor

Sony issued a statement this morning to officially deny rumors suggesting the company plans to partner with a major Taiwanese electronics firm to develop the PlayStation 3. Speculative reports suggesting the Taiwanese partnership and associated production base for Sony\'s next videogame console appeared in several Asian news publications over the weekend. Similarly, reports surfaced last week suggesting Sony\'s plans to incorporate Rambus\' YellowStone memory architecture in the PlayStation 3. Thus far however, Sony representatives have refused to comment on a possible Rambus deal. Sony has said that it wants the PlayStation 3 to boast performance 1000 times greater than the PS2, the company\'s latest home console.


:eek: Sony still states that PS3 will be 1000 times more powerful than PS2... I\'m starting to believe :surprised

Just hype, I hate the number 1000. Why is it the limit? Why not 1500? :rolleyes:

like soul reaver said its just hype and about the 1000 times better thing i dont think its possible maybe 100 times but not 1000.

Sony is dening PS3 right now because with the success of the PS2, they want the media to focus on this era right now rather than the future at this point. I can assure you, there will be a PS3, it will be X times amount faster thant he PS2.

As for now, Sony wants us to enjoy what\'s offered to us, because they are still releasing AAA titles, and X-box still is slowly dying, and Nintendo hasn\'t posed much of a "threat" yet. Plus, Sony is pretty much in control right now of the scene. I wouldn\'t be suprised if they release the PS3 2-3 years from now just to show how successful they are right now.

But I wouldn\'t count on them releasing any information reguarding the PS3 til it\'s time they move on. If M$ can\'t get on it\'s feet soon, Sony\'s next cailbur will bury X-box2 before it sees the light of day.

ill be satisfied with the ps2 for a while but hearing about the ps3 i cant wait
