My thoughts exactly..I really hate that with all major sports games. With everything they are doing, thats why there is a such thing as ESPN classics and numerous tribute shows for such milestones.

What sucks even more..Ted Williams being named Allstar MVP. I love the guy..but come on, plenty of ways to honor him without taking accolades away from current players.

He was named MVP?  I thought they were just saying the award would be named for him, as in the MVP gets the Ted Williams award.  Maybe I heard wrong.  Meh.

Quote
CANTON, OH  Wednesday 8.8.2001  /pickthehits.com/ -- Football fans in Macy Gray\'s hometown booed and laughed as she struggled her way through the national anthem before a Football Hall of Fame exhibition game.

The crowd wasn\'t too impressed by her funky, offbeat take on the song at first, and when she stared to stumble over the words the crowd began booing and laughing. Then several low flying planes drowned her out the end.

Asked if she was nervous about singing the anthem, Gray said, "I don\'t know, I have no idea what to expect."

This isn\'t Gray\'s first bit of bad luck with the Hall of Fame, she worked there in the summer of 1987. "I was a tour guide and I got fired after, like, a week," she said.

im suprised she wasnt deported

Tony, what was wrong with Kim being online for the win? It\'s an All-Star game, who cares who gets the win?

Go Damien Miller, that ****** announcer blamed Brenly for bringing him when La Duca could have gone. 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored. Ha.

Because he pitched horribly, and should have been on line for the loss.

And yes, despite his performance, LoDuca should have been there over Miller.  He has had a better season.

He was probably nervous. He got out of the inning.

And Miller is a FAR better defensive catcher than Lo Duca. Hitting isn\'t everything.

LoDuca has caught more people stealing (23-19).  They have the same number of passed balls (6 a piece).  LoDuca has also been calling the pitches for the 2nd best staff in baseball (and a first place team).  Far better?  Ha.  I\'m not even sure I\'d agree with better at all.

And at the plate, it\'s no comparison.  LoDuca is a feared hitter, Miller isn\'t.  LoDuca is hitting .326, and incredible average for a catcher.  Miller is at .272 with fewer RBIs and fewer runs.  How you can say he deserves it over LoDuca I don\'t know.

And Kim...nervous?  Like in the World Series maybe?  For the best pitchers, that doesn\'t matter.  He is just proving once again that he does not belong in that category.

or have the two teams bet on how many Hotdogs Don Zimmer can eat, closest guess wins.

Hope the players strike?  No.  Selig needs to get out though.  Overall though, I side with the owners in the labor disputes.  It is the players association that wants no steroid testing, and no salary cap.

as a fan I\'m all for steroid testing, however as a bodybuilder I\'m against it.  I don\'t like it because these tests give false possitives very easily, many legal sups can be read as gear.  I know from experience, I\'ve taken a steroid test before, and I came out possitive for enanthate and propionate, which I had never taken.  I forget which sups I may have been on at the time, probably Creatine, Hydroxy Methanalbuyrate, cromium, and trimethylglycine among others, which are all legal.   After my false possitive I took a different test, and came out neggitive.

Interesting that Bud Selig is now getting booed out of Milwaukee, of all places.  I think the fact that everyone hates him is enough.  Besides, the contraction bull**** was much worse than all of this anyway.

Who does a strike really hurt more anyway?  Bud Selig, or the fans?  I\'d say the fans.  Personally, I want to see an end to this season.  A strike is good for no one.

So maybe they have a multiple test system.

And you were on all those?  Ugh.

yeah I was on all of them, but some sups have multiple sups in one drink/pill/powder

like i could get my creatine, glutamine, TMG and HMB all in one powder, so it\'s really not that bad...just expensive.  the only bad thing is that no supplement tastes good, they all suck.

I\'m all for a strike in baseball.  Serious things need to be fixed and maybe a break would give them enough time for that.  The biggest problem being the joke that is the Yankees.
Title: Official AllStar Game thread

they do need to level the playing field, what the Yakers are doing is ridiculous.  Hell why not just figure out who has the most money before the season even starts, and give them the championship, just save time.
Title: Official AllStar Game thread

Even a better idea.  Have the all-star game but then turn the team into the yankees.
Title: Official AllStar Game thread
Post by: shockwaves on July 10, 2002, 08:08:55 AM
You know, it\'s not like other teams couldn\'t fill their stadiums too if they had more dedicated fans.  It isn\'t just where the Yankees play, but it\'s the quality of their fans that make them money.

But I think that they really do need a cap or revenue sharing.  I don\'t think that any of that will happen during a strike though.
