I had sex with Ryu.........................................\'s computer  . He got his new dell today. It is the many awesomeism.
Pentium 4 2.4 ghz
512 meg ram (ddr? rdram?)
GEFORCE 4 128 mb TI 4600 !!! :eyemouth:
Those are the main awesome specs. Hehe he can run counterstrike at solid 60 fps ( he can run it at probably 120 fps solid if we can just figure out the command to do it)
Soldier of Fortune II also runs at solid 60 + fps and thats with everything turned on running at 1152 X 864 res.
The new america\'s army game also runs at 60 + fps or so with everything turned on running at max range.
The best of it all is...HE HASN\'T EVEN GOTTEN HIS FLAT PANEL MONITOR YET!!! :D
Dude, Ryu you got a dell. :nerd:
Yeah congrats u luckee baste turd. I\'ll be hogging it whenever I over at your house now :-). Anyways off to shower...not because of all the excitement from Ryu\'s new computer but its so hot right now here in Newark. Its like 80 + degrees or something. I\'m sweating like a smoked salmon on a barbeque grill...or something.

fps_max 100
100 is the maximum the Half-Life engine can support.

Congrats on the new machine

The problem was not half life, the problem is windows XP and the geforce 4 cards. You see, for some odd reason, the GF drivers default to 60hz as your refresh rate. Even though this can be turned off and CS will run at 100FPS like I wanted it to, the game itself still runs at 60hz. It\'s just a minor flaw, but a little tinkering works out that bug. I\'m sure nVidia will change it in a future update. In any case, the difference between solid 60 and solid 100 is negligible at best. At least I can\'t tell the difference. I just know it\'s as smooth as a baby\'s butt. :)

About 2400. Keep in mind, the monitor is about 600-700 on its own. (17" flat panel)

I considered them. I like the company. I\'ve seen their stuff running. I just don\'t think they are worth it price wise. A custom built system, or a system much like that of my own would still be much cheaper then what they offer. I just configured a hive mind and the only thing that it beats me on is tower size, which is full instead of mid, and the monitor size which is 18" instead of 17" and the price was 3717.00 before tax and shipping. If you consider 200 bucks for an extra 1" of monitor and maybe 15 more for the full tower, the price still comes out to about 3500.00. That\'s a rip off. Sorry to say, but I\'m not going to spend 1000 more for the alienware logo.

You always get all the attention you deserve, but besides, isn\'t it your job to distract me from time to time? ;)
Now, for those who are curious, here is the complete specs:
17" flat panel monitor
Pentium 4 2.4GHz (533 bus)
GeForce 4 4600Ti 128MB DDR ram
512MB DDR Ram
40GB Harddrive (I have another 40GB)
40x10x40 cdrw
16x dvdrom
SB Live soundcard (audigy was not available)
ethernet, floppy, modem, keyboard, mouse, speakers
Lexmark scanner, printer, copier (all in one, free)
That\'s about it.

I call you up to get you to stop looking at the screen to rest your eyes and you\'re still staring at it when I"m talking to you! Hell! You\'d think there were a pair of breasts on the moniter or something! I gave up trying to distract you from your computer/CSing/IMing! :p
-
Wow... Ryu, your computer is freakin awesome!
I\'m still stuck with this Pentium 1.. haha.. But hey it only cost me 500.;)
-

I recently won a large sum of money, my last PC was custom built. While thats all good and dandy, i\'m gonna let someone else do it for me this time. Plus I like the stylish look of their PC\'s. I\'m also fortunate enough to have numerous friends that can help me get "deals" which will bring the cost down considerably.
-
nothing beats a brother that has his own pc business. hehe :D Wholesale prices for me :D
I just wanna get a 1 gig DDR dimm and the new series that nvidia are bringing out.. Not geforce something new. Makes GF4 look like a snail. When i update my card next. I\'ll get a GF3. Then wait awhile get the new series cards and sell the gf3. :D
but ryu, I\'ll trade u my super fast GF2T400 card for your GF4 anytime ;)
I rather my older GF pro DDR card then this sh@tty thing..
Ps, Ryu did u pay 2.5 grand USD for a computer?

yeah "deals", I get those too from this guy named Leroy that sells stuff out of the trunk of his car, whatever you want he\'s got it, and if he doesn\'t have it, he can get it.

This month, ya :)
Wanna rub me???
you know you do...
-
is there a way to boost fps manually or is just whatever the display options let you do
-
It\'s just in your video card options. Here, take a look:
That default option is 60Hz and it can be disabled, but it\'ll only work in opengl. There are fixes out there, but it\'s quite a bit of work. I think there was a program that fixed it manually, but I\'m going to wait for a final release from nVidia.
OpenGL settings don\'t always summumb to the settings performed on your desktop. Games have their own internal settings that you can change and adjust in game. For example, as mentioned earlier, in Counter-Strike, you can actually set your FPS maximum while playing in the console and the change will instantly occur. Extra options not present in Half-Life, such as antistropic filtering, can be changed in windows and the settings will take effect when you start the game. OpenGL is very tweakable, but it\'s different from system to system. That\'s why boxes for PC games now give minimum and recommended sepcifications. :)

Jar O\' Pickles,
here\'s a program u can use too tweak Direct3d, Opengl, AGP Transfer speeds etc. (side writing, Fast Transfer) and overclocking your card etc. Your MB and Graphics card will have to support the settings to alter them. Ones that they don\'t. This program shouldn\'t let u access. The DP settings can\'t change everything.. (or don\'t)
It may help. But please becareful if you use it. You can fry your card if you overclock it or set things up wrong. It\'s pretty hard to do. There are people that have done it..

PS, You need Detonator drivers for this util to work. :)
