Should I buy it? I dropped my PS2 so much times.. will the stand help me prevent this?
... or is it just for looks?
-
Its advisable not to put ur PS2 on its side without the stand......
-
I dont see how it would make any difference. Unless you were just sitting in in the middle of nowhere. I just lean it up against the TV or sandwich it between a couple of things do it doesnt fall.
Why don\'t you just put it horiontally?

It won\'t fit next to my TV if I place it horizotally. I do lean it, but there is still some space left so it falls to its side. I can\'t place it anywhere else but the floor, which isn\'t a very good idea because my floor is carpeted.

I got some 20 centimeters free space between my TV and amp, and I\'ve held my PS2 vertical there as long as I can remember (never gotten one of those stands, they still seem too expensive to me); never fallen down one way or another. Are you yanking the controller cords or just spinning around your room so you knock everything over?
I\'d love a stand though, \'cause it looks sweet :)
I\'d think, by the looks of it, a stand would stabilise the PS2 when it comes to falling to its sides, but if you\'re talented enough to tilt it forward or backwards enough... congratulations!
-
Bah, just buy the damned stand. :)
Unless you have better things to spend the money on.. *makes suggestive hand movement*
-
It can stand vertically without the stand through I wouldn\'t recommend it. It just worries me thinking about the disc being read vertically maybe it\'s just me.
-
its not just you, ive read allot of horror storys, id never put mine on its side
-
guys, sony didnt just put some rubberpads on the side of the ps2 and then said you can place it vertically, sony has put alot of research into this ability (if u will) of the PS2. i think i\'ve even read somewhere that the PS2 was made to stand vertical.
And to answer yer question Soulreaver, the stand is not requied (i.e. if u have a hard surface to place the ps2 on) but its advisable to have one as it provides the needed support for the ps2.
:)

Why not just MAKE a stand yourself, go down to the local ahrdware store, buy a bit of MDF and cut, gue & nail it together yourself? Plus, with MDF, you\'ll be able to paint it to match the area your PS2 is in, unlike that awful blue stand that you buy.
It\'s only a scam for them to extrort extra money out of you.
-
Excuse my ignorance but what\'s MDF?
-
is it bad to put ur ps2 on a carpet? if so...y

Medium Density Fiberboard.
It is processed wood,a substitute for wood in plank form , a consistantly smooth, cheap and reliable form of wood.
*It is NOT CHIPBOARD, which is compressed wood chipping/sawdust*

dude i wouldnt buy the stand cuz its too expensive and unecessary, just place it next to ur tv and itll be fine

The Vertical option would make more sense if the actual PS2 game "locked" into the tray, I hate how you have to wait to catch the game when you eject.
Horizontal.
-
Supposedly keeping your PS2 Vertical rather then Horizontal is better for the PS2...
I don\'t see a need for the stand though except in rare cases where theres nowhere stable to place the console... [I\'m sure knocking it over repeatedly was not taken into account when they said the PS2 lasts longer when used Vertical.]
-
How was able to fall over in the first place? Were you trying to stand it upright on a 45 degree slope?
-
I got the stand for free from my friend. :)
Anyway, whenever I or any of my friends change the the game, my PS2 tends to shake. So, whenever my clumsy friend changes the game quickly, they don\'t notice it. They\'re more careful now and the stand works fine.

What? I don\'t know about you but, my PS2 has a little holder thing that keeps it in its place.

Because there is static electricity and it goes through the PS2 and I don\'t know warps in the inside?(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fninten.com%2Fmike%2Fsmilies%2Fponder.gif&hash=e8a587658e5e5856e1e979bda1f63371deed1409)

waste of money, just put horizontally. Use the money you save from the stand and buy a memory card or game.

I already have it, too late. Besides, I can\'t put it horizontally with the limited space I have.
-
I had it when I first got it. I must say it helped save space. Now that my game collection is off the charts, I just keep it horizontal.

i dont know but maybe it\'ll help with your grammar
-
There is a pretty cool vertical stand out now that doubles as a multi-tap and comes with a dvd remote.

I\'m really just an OT kind of person. We don\'t need to talk like civilized people there. :)
Oh, btw, the I was supposed to be a capital I in your sentence. You didn\'t put a comma after but, as well. At least you spelled grammar correctly. :p
Before I forget, you didn\'t place a period at the end of your sentence.
