Well, you all probably remember me talking about this ages ago.
Dad is an audio/visual consultant. He makes alot of movies, and installs home theatres. He did the sound and setup for Street Fighter and Pitch Black, both filmed at the Gold Coast.
Setup - I don\'t know the details. He is the one into it, not me. I just use it to watch TV :D
3.5 metre screen
SONY projector (3 colour tubes???)
SONY DVD player
6.1 DD setup
42 inch bass speaker (he made it, its the size of our fridge).
DVDs - 200 + no joke.
I really don\'t know much else.
I posted pics ages ago, I doubt anyone would remember them though.
-
Sony 1271 front projector (Probably just like Racer\'s)
96" screen
Yamaha Amp
Infinity tower speakers in the front and full surround.
RCA Hi definition Direct TV Receiver
Sony Ultimate Television DIrect TV PVR
Pioneer Laser Disc Player (Pretty much only for my Caddy Shack disc)
Pioneer DVD
Yamaha CD Changer
2 Sony High End VCRs
and a regular 27" standard Sony TV.
I now have it all in the same room and I don\'t really like it. My next house will have a dedicated room..
Picture is horrible, but it\'s real tough to take a picture when it\'s that dark in the room.

Like Chizz, I also have a modest home theatre setup:
-27" WEGA
-550 Watt Sony 5.1 Dolby/DTS Receiver with some sort of "virtual" 6.1 capability, which pretty much doesn\'t do shit.
-Sony DVD Player - single disk (hey, that thing was $300 when I got it)
-Sony Hi-Fi VCR
-Yamaha speakers and subwoofer
-PS2 with S-Video and digital (fiber optic) sound
-Around 60 DVDs
And a few dozen of those sticky glow-in-the-dark stars on the wall behind the entertainment center. :smokin:

My home theater gear is 2nd or 3rd priority right now because I\'m preparing for an automobile purchase. Here\'s where it stands:
Toshiba 65H80 65" rear projection television
Sony NS700P DVD player (progressive)
Toshiba DirecTV receiver (high definition)
Kenwood 2 channel receiver
DVDs - too many to list; Maybe a couple hundred?
I know it\'s not a home theater receiver, but I just can\'t upgrade it at this point. Eventually I will, but when I do I know it will be a significant expense because I have very distinct requirements from the receiver. Likewise, I will need to upgrade all speakers, and that ain\'t cheap. The car will come first. :D

I want some of your setups, I just got a 24" widescreen tv, standard DVD player, 2 big ass speakers and about 60 DVD\'s
-
my setup = very simple
1. 29"tv(daewoo)
2. sony DVD player
3.15 DVD\'s + 25 VCD\'s (no! their not bootlegs)
only thing missing is some good speakers.
:)

At the moment:
34" Panasonic HDTV
HK 510 receiver
HK DVD50
Yamaha EQ (primarily for headphone use)
Energy C-8 front speakers (will be replaced by C-9s and used as rear speakers as soon as I move)
Energy RVS center speaker
HD receiver
some old sony VCR
and a crap load of cabling/wires

Personally I have a budget setup (I\'m a poor student, remember ;)). But it works great. It is:
Thomson 28" widescreen TV (plenty big for my living room)
Akai DVD player/receiver/speakers/subwoofer
Some 50 DVD\'s
All things considered I\'m very satisfied.

Crap when I was a student I didn\'t have jack for a tv. We did have a huge stereo system though.
My dad built bars back then and I had gotten from him two 15" speakers in a huge case. It was 4 feet tall 6 feet long and about a foot deep.
My roomate and I had it in our dorm room. VERY SMALL DORM ROOM.
We combined stereos and had 4 full size speakers run on 2 amps, the base on a 3rd amp.
Oh my.,
Let me repeat, we had a freaking TINY ROOM.
It made your stomache hurt. It sounded great though. People use to bitch constantly, but hey that\'s what college is for.
I didn\'t buy much till I got into the work force. Gotta have a hobby.
