Title: ~Madden 03\'.... Are you ready?~
Post by: SwifDi on July 26, 2002, 08:53:14 PM
I know I am. :D

I was a bit disappointed in how Madden 01\' and 02\' were similiar... things change come August 19th.

-Online (Opens an entire realm of possibilites, no more buying the game each year for updated rosters, now you simply download them. Wow.)

-Divisional Changes (VERY Important. I\'m playing Madden 02\' and besides the rosters being outdated, I don\'t even have the Texans to play against.)

-No more Pat Sumerall. (Lets all give a warm welcome to Al Michaels)

Here\'s some more screen shots to get people\'s wallets ready:

Thought this was a new interesting aspect, its basically a new enhanced training version where your tested on how well you perform certain plays.

There ya go, I small bite of what the online picture looks like. Although I can\'t really tell ya that Death Adder, Duck Fan, Big Dog, and Pimp are clever names.

Ah... revamped divisions....
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sgn.cc%2Ffootball%2Fmadden_2003%2Fps2%2F11.jpg&hash=b167ccd240bbe35c5652e4a6bbc9b2237aece491)
Player progression! Now when your 3rd string RB has a good year, his overall ability goes up so your not stuck with a miserable RB forever!

Look at those eyes... No more "happy" faces.

Yeah I\'ve been hearing alot about NCAA 2003. My friend got NCAA 02\' when I got Madden 02\' so there was alot of bickering between the both of us. They are essentially the same game, however I found some annoying tidbits in NCAA Football, and he found a few in Madden.

I\'m just more of a fan when it comes to the game professionally I guess. Although I\'m sure NCAA 03\' is great.

I didn\'t buy Madden last year and wouldn\'t buy this year except for online.

The games just aren\'t different enough to warrent the purchase, but oh boy.  This year is special.  Online ability is going to rock.

And the lukester will be on DSL in only a couple months!!!  Woot to that.  Get a hub bub and hook up that PS2...

ANyone know how many people can play online together or is it only head to head.

A couple of things here...

I will be buying this game, don\'t get me wrong, but...player progression always happened before.  After the first year of your franchise, the divisions changed (I think), but the Texans were just made up out of air.

I\'m honestly most excited about the Preseason mode in the Franchise...this was in the Gameday games on PSX, for Christ\'s sake, and it took this long for it to get to PS2?  This lets you see if your rookies are worth a damn before wasting a season game on \'em.  Or you can see if your free agent QB deserves to start rather than just back up...this rocks.

UPDATE

Anyways.... I don\'t know how this thread died... I\'m disappointed in all of you.

The friendly folk over at EA Sports are delivering Madden 03\' one day early to all of us, since they know we can\'t wait!

So on Monday, August 12th, Madden will sweep the nation off their feet.

Still not feelin\' the hype? Read this article:

http://www.ea.com/easports/platforms/games/madden2003/top10.jsp?article_id=top10

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now lets look at the online picture some more....

This game is friendly for you 56k sufferers:

Quote
According to Madden NFL producer Jeremy Strauser, both broadband and dial-up connections work very well for online play.

"Both broadband and a telephone line connection play great," Strauser said. "Broadband will, of course, be a little smoother experience, but there is very little noticeable dropoff when you move to a telephone connection. Gamers will be surpised at how seamless the play is."

Quote
"We\'re really stoked about being able to deliver on an online experience," Lam said. "We want it to be a fun experience... and we want people to want to do it. We think the experience that we are going to deliver is going to do exactly that.

"The one big feature that is going to be available only to online users are the roster updates," Lam continued. "Between trades, free agent signings, and if some of the rookies haven\'t signed contracts at the time of the game launch, we\'re going to be able to update your rosters throughout the season."

I was wondering...i saw that one of the screenshots had typing in it. How would u be able to type with the controller, or do u have to buy a keyboard er something(if sony makes one for the ps2)

Great question. I was wondering that myself. However I am quick on the "Menu" keyboard... I\'m sure they\'ll have that available. I\'m talking about the keyboard you use with the controller by selecting a letter, etc...

I\'m sure they\'ll have plenty of shortcuts and "hot" words or something. But this is nothing more than speculations, anyone have a better answer?

I just don\'t see any reason to get this game every year.  There weren\'t enough changes last year to warrent the buying.  Although the addition of widescreen actually did make me almost get it, but I figured this one would be online and figured I\'d wait.  Now they are making me buy it again next year?  That is poop.  They better makes some damn good advancements.

Well, in order to get the new Madden, I sell my old Madden for half the price of the new one.

So I always get the new Madden for around 25 dollars.

Thats what i was thinking of doing. But for some reason i have a feeling that if i sell an older Madden ill need it or something stupid in the future.

I think they would have to give a rebate or something for those owning \'03.  That\'s just not right forcing people to spend 50 bucks a year.

I honsetly think 2 years is the right thing to do.

I was really looking forward to Madden this year, and now on the eve of it going on sale,I find out that EA wont even give me two damn years to play online.C\'mon you greedy bastards just two friggin years.:(

Two years would be nice, but it really doesn\'t bother me. I have bought Madden every year for about the last 4 years. I have even bought Gameday too. And just about every other sports game. I have HHB2003 and had HHB2002. Same goes with NCAA College Football, had it last year and I got the new one when it was launched. Buying games every year doesn\'t bother me, the games are usually updated well and have good enhancements. I just trade in my old games for credit towards the new one. I got like 20 dollars each for Madden 2002 and NCAA 2002. If you can tade in games for at least half their value it no big deal for me to have to buy the game every year. But now that it\'s on-line I would like to see 2 years of shelf life for the games. But being on-line and having roster updates availible for download what\'s the big deal?? Your not being forced to buy a new game to play online every year. I\'m sure you will still be able to play 2003 when 2004 comes out. I\'m not sure, I haven\'t read up on it too much. But I wouldn\'t let this keep me from buying the best football game on the planet with online play.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Just about 24 more hours.

Its still early... Things could possibly change, and as Vid said perhaps a rebate?

I see how this is unfortunate for those who do not purchase Madden each year.
