How is it in an action movie, that there are more stunt doubles than actors? Anyone have an answer? I can\'t figure this out . Theres like 10 characters but 50+ stunt doubles.

it might be coz each stuntman/woman was hired to do a certain number of stunts.

Maybe each stunt double has a different specialty.  Each doing a different stunt that is their stunt.

I think Bozco is right. How do they make them look like the actors? Special masks?

Bad angles.  They next show closeups of the face and stuff during the stunts.  They just get someone who kinda looks like the actor, and have them do the stunts while the camera shoots them from behind or far away or something.  That is, except in movies where the actors do some of their own stunts.

Either that, or they take computers and put the actors face over the stunt doubles face and vioala.

...or it\'s just like shockwaves said. :p

BTW, Tom Cruise did a lot of stuff in MI:2. The DVD reveals a lot of the stunt stuff - the knife scene was especially creepy after they told how they did it. Normally you\'d just think "bah, it\'s just special effects and computer gfx" - but Tom Cruise really had a knife very VERY close to his eye.

In case you haven\'t seen the movie or can\'t remember - the bad guy takes a knife and kinda throws it/himself at Tom Cruise, who lies in the sand. The knife stops like 1/10th of an inch before his eye... and it was done by having a wire in the end of the knife! Geez, had TC just moved a little bit, he could get the knife in his eye for real! But he insisted - pretty brave of him if I must say. :)

yeah id say also say there is 5 main characters... a one car chase scene... so 5 stunt doubles, then say a boat racing scenes, so about another 5 stunt doubles etc etc....... so each stuntman/women can do special things etc... also some stunt doubles may get very hurt, so need to bring others in
