Hideo Kojima:
Hideo is a crap developer: extremely over-rated. Now take a look at him, one has to all agree, how ugly he is! Ugliness is a sign of a thwarted developement - the state of interbreeding. - Did his mom have sex with his uncle? Otherwise - it appears - he has down syndrome. It is not just appearance which indicates decadence in Hideo; he is a crap developer! - Let us not forget he is nothing more than a would-be director: Metal Gear Solid was a stroke of luck on an old concept. Everything about him is exaggerated, over-rated, overstated; Snatcher was crap; the follow-up was even worse! - In regard, I give credit to the espionage aspect of the first Nes MGS, but nothing is further from the truth of the over-exploitation of this fruitless developer. I seek to understand the idiosyncrasy of some who place him on the same level of Miyamoto or Naka.
Kojima\'s games were contagious; contagious in which it was suppressed into a short interactive movie: funny how everybody denounces Shenmue but praises MGS; I guess the espionage aspect was cooler and the vast majority of PSX owners were mainstream, graphic whores; hence they over-looked the short comings. Now take a look at Snatcher: again, the formula was centered around "coolness" with an abundance of blood and gore, but it was still established as an interactive media with less than nilch gameplay; he went on to produce the follow-up Policenauts - which was worse than its prodecessor. Now, take a look at MGS2 and make a value judgement: if the game wasn\'t "cool" would it be any good? - hence I am strictly talking about pure, adrenaline gameplay ... it is mediocre at best.
I like big BUTTS and I can not lie. You other brothers can\'t deny! When a guy walks in with an itty bitty waste with a round thing in your face you get SPRUNG!

We need a special forum for members like him.
He\'s the other other fanboy.

Well, one\'s thing for sure.. Kojima is more limited than Miyamoto or Naka. Talented, yes.. but limited.
He only makes games in 2-3 genres, and the majority of his hits are in th\' stealth/action/Metal Gear genre. ;)
Otherwise, he\'s pretty good.. albeit over-rated by the mainstream IMHO. I mean, he was in Newsweek last year because MGS2 was hyped like nothing else, and had movie-like elements. A ridiculously complex plot.
I wonder.. did th\' makers of Halo get into Newsweek? How about Shigeru Miyamoto? Peter Molyneux? Yu Suzuki should\'ve been in \'dere after Shenmue II kicked ass.. and Rockstar Games had a mainstream hit at the time too.
\'Course, none of their games played like movies in 2001. None of them were 50% cut-scenes like MGS2. Hey, I\'m not arguing that Kojima, Konami, or th\' Metal Gear games stink.. I\'m saying that for the most part, the mainstream doesn\'t know what a game is supposed to be unless it makes sales records and gets shoved down their throat.
Yes, let\'s go off-topic in this silly thread and say that th\' mainstream media stinks! You stink, stupid media!

I\'m with this guy...
Except I do think MGS stinks...

What the hell? I hope hes not an Xbox fan.

I\'m with Blade (and Ashford - as I think MGS stinks). Kojima is extremely overrated, when a lot of top creative minds are either under-rated or just overlooked, take your pick.
Now I am not saying Kojima stinks, how could I when he did create games like Snatcher? I am saying Kojima\'s fruits (MGS & MGS2) have been highly overrated and in doin\' so, he was over-rated.
Kojima has openly spoken out about how he wanted to be a film director but apparently couldn\'t be for whatever reason. So, instead of making games , he focuses on making interactive movies. Sure, the gameplay that includes is usually good, but the overall product, at least 75% is nothing more than cut scenes and terribly written stories.
Now we see Kojima has risen to Vice President (I think that is his new status) at Konami and we also see what happened when he got all the negative feedback of MGS2. He went and rehashed it a couple times and after that, he plans on rehashing MGS. He has simply ran out of idea\'s. Why else would he include Snake in a skateboarding game? Why else would he try to come up with 40 different versions of MGS2 and 40 different ways to market it? And if you are asking why I am bothering even saying it is important that he has ran out of idea\'s..Well, for one reason. The great creative minds in this industry (Miyamoto, Suzuki, Molyneux and etc) keep coming up with great games and great new idea\'s. Most of all, their games focus on one thing..gameplay and that my friend, is the test of a true creative developer. Sadly, I just don\'t think Kojima falls into that catergory.

molyneux?
you would rather play an experiment in A.I. masked as a shitty game(black and white) than MGS (1 or 2)
Hideo Kojima is a legend who helped push the boundries of console gaming, shame on any of you for thinking otherwise

Snake is in THPS4 right? Snake can also skate in MGSS.
I hate that idea. Our superhero on a skateboard? :crying:
Oh and I’m very disappointed with MGS:S (though Snake Tales sounds interesting. If they take place in a new area.). I would much rather have a MGS3.

Guess what, this reminds me of.. *cough* Capcom *cough* or mainly Resident Evil anyway. Metal Gear Solid is at least a game that masterly combines an action movie and gaming..
oh hey Blade, I like that comment about the mainsteam and them not knowing what real games should be like..
I just thought games are different form of entertainment, but I guess I was wrong. Maybe I should buy a GameCube to discover what "true" gaming is all about, ey?

mm is always right; everyone should listen to him.

I agree with the dissention in this thread. MG is overrated. I played it and enjoyed it because it was cool, not because there was anything great about the game. Especially MGS2--it\'s all old ideas, presented and put together well albeit.
Kojima doesn\'t rank for me.

"this must be saved for all to point and luagh it?
omg you can\'t even spell a sentence correctly and you are calling me an idiot?!!!

*wonders how old mm is*

Seven, if the mainstream media knew what a good game was , than they would of all caught onto Kojima\'s actual great games (Snatcher, Policenauts) not the crap like MGS and MGS2.
And while Black & White may of not lived up to its hype, it at least pushed new boundries in the AI department and it looks like Lionhead is once again trying to go new places with Project Ego, unlike Kojima is just wants to push the boundries on how many cinema\'s and how convulted of a story you can have in one game.
Also Seven, I realize Capcom rehashes Resident Evil but than again, I don\'t claim Mikimia (sp?) to be a legend or mastermind of gaming, like most people do Kojima.
Than again, I am openly biased towards the MGS series as I think it is one of the worst series to come out of the 32 bit generation.
*shrugs*

Seven: You\'ve missed the point. They\'ll praise one game and they won\'t praise another game of equal quality.
I don\'t even know why I brought it up. Everybody knows that mainstream media (for the most part) doesn\'t know what they\'re talking about. For most of them it\'s just "Ooo, look at that! It\'s just like a movie!".. :)
They could care less if the gameplay was good or not because they haven\'t played enough games to tell th\' difference between good and bad. The same goes for the graphics, and sound, and everything else.
I just feel that some developers (not referring to Nintendo here) don\'t get the attention they deserve.. while Kojima gets the spotlight as a major player in the entertainment world, in a holiday issue of Newsweek! Bah to that!
Edit: Oh, and what LiC just said = my thoughts. Except for the MGS1/2 being crap part.. IMO, MGS = okay!
It\'s just not the best thing out there right now.
-
And to add to LiC\'s responce: Millions of people think Armageddon is one of the best films ever and Bruce Willis one of the finest actors. The artistic worth of a product has nothing to do with how many people enjoy it o how much money it makes.

ooo! i made a typo!
you know what kid, im not gonna give yer troll-ass the satisfactions of more people to take yer bait. post more nonsense and youll lose yer access to the forum
