Sega of Japan axes the PlayStation 2 version of Skies of Arcadia from its upcoming lineup.
Sega of Japan has announced that Skies of Arcadia has been removed from its lineup of upcoming games. The company stated that it would prefer to focus its efforts on the GameCube version of the game. Skies of Arcadia follows the adventures of the air pirate Vyse and his friend Aika as they attempt to discover why the Valua empire is pursuing a mysterious girl and her ship.
An official release date has yet to be announced for the North American release of Skies of Arcadia on the GameCube.

Thoughts?
I\'m kinda mad... I was looking forward to this game, even if it is just a remake of the DC version. All the more reason to get a used DC or a GC, I guess.
-
I\'m predicting now that both the cancelation of SOA and PSO for ps2 are beacuse of
PSV and SOA2... thats just my guess
-
Buy a DC.
-
yeah, they\'re like 25$ used
-
Those aren\'t big losses in my opinion I mean there are far better rpg\'s comming like Xenosaga, Suikoden 3, Final Fantasy, Star Ocean 3, Unlimited Saga, Kingdom Hearts they\'ll be forgotten soon enough but buying a DC is still the cheapest option
-
Erm.. Chrono.. PSO was never slated for the PS2.. in any form. I heard the sequel would be handed over to Overworks (original PS developers) after the Xbox version of v.2 is complete.. and that the PS2 would get the true online sequel.. speculated to be a mmorpg like FFXI, but all that\'s jus as much rumor as PSV.
Anyhow, yeah.. I\'ve heard alot about them wanting to cancel SoA for the PS2 and instead jus focus on the sequel. I can\'t say it\'s a very smart move.. but hey... it\'s their choice. I can get it for cheap on my DC, and Nintendo gamers could use a few good RPG\'s for once.

grr! I nice RPG goes... :(
-
Easy come easy go...it\'s hard to miss something you never had that is unless you owned or do own a DC...:D
-
the DC is the best console out there to buy right now
roughly $25-40 for the unit, and the games can be had for under 10$
-
:( i like the vibe i got from that game.....now ill have to steal my friends DC
-
bah why must they take away good rpgs - i have been so patient too

Problem being that the games are outdated now... and there are never going to be new games... and you also then have to purchase a Memory card and Controllers... then actually find the games which are no longer sold...
-
I would have loved the DC.. if only it had a better controller :(
SOA was a decent game, but Final Fantasy 9 was better IMO
-
Geeze, that\'s a great reason to not purchase a console you could have loved. You DO realize they made adaptors for the PS2 controller right?
Bah, wouldn\'t have made a difference. You\'dda probably wouldda jus found another reason not to buy it.
-
SonyFan, did I ever say I did not own a DC?
I own one
I still hate the controller

How are the games outdated? They can easily be compared to many PS2 games, technically and gameplay-wise.
Doesn\'t matter if there aren\'t gonna be any new games.
The DC library is still better than all 3 current consoles.
-
I have to agree with Ashford on that. Wtih a few exceptions DC does had a lot of excellent underrated titles and some that just can\'t compare to what\'s out now. It\'s truly an excellent system and a helluva bargin at that.

I would not go as far to say that.. especially after this fall.

I don\'t understand where you\'re comming from. I don\'t see how anyone can think less of the DC or it\'s games just because of a little thing like it\'s controller. Yeah, I\'ve been known to poke fun at the Xbox\'s controller.. but that\'s sure as hell not gonna stop me from enjoying it\'s games. I abhor the N64 controller.. but it dosen\'t affect the way I enjoy Zelda:OoT, Mario64, or WaveRacer any less. If it\'s a good console with good games, then unless the controller is so piss poorly designed that the games are almost unplayable.. it shouldn\'t matter. The DC\'s pad was FAR from a bad design, even if it\'s not as comfortable as the PS2 pad.
And if you hated it that much.. why didn\'t you just buy a converter?
