Can a movie make you cry?
Personally I\'d have to say HELL YES. Two examples of this would be The Green Mile and Bridges of Madison County - both get me every time.
I think it\'s great when a movie can touch you emotionally and make you teary eyed. I love when it happens. :)
And I realise that Bridges of Madison County might not be what every 21-year-old male watches most... but it\'s actually a very good move. Beautiful cinematography, beautiful score (which Clint Eastwood composed some of), beautiful acting and so on. Sure it\'s slow paced, but it\'s never boring IMO. Perhaps there\'s just a 50 year old woman hidden deep inside me. ;)
So unless you\'re the kind of person who won\'t watch a movie, which doesn\'t contain at least three major explosions, you should catch Bridges of Madison County sometime.
But back to the question.... please elaborate on which movie(s) that get you, if your answer is yes.

i cried like a bitch in green mile
-
Ditto, green mile was a tear jerker, never seen bridg. madison county though.
-
You cried in the Green Mile?

^^^None have made me cry, but those are the closest.
[sp]FotR because my favorite character dies at the end :([/sp]
Put the spoiler there just incase anyone hasnt seen it (freaks.)

thats pretty pathetic if LOTR made u cry
thats like saying "i cried when darth vader told luke he was his father and killed himself fighting the emporer"
loser
-
stupid bitch.
I said it almost made me cry! I just liked how he was so human and flawed, yet he loved the cause they were fighting for with all his life, and didnt want to give up despite his lack of hope.. it was so.. touching and beautiful :)
-
Lol
Personally LOTR didn\'t do anything for me on that level. Cool action flick though.

Let me rephraze it I don\'t cry, but it will make me tear up, thats about the closest i get to crying for a movie.
-
I\'ll admit like mm to crying like a bitch when I first saw TGM. It still makes me sob though... heh
-
How can a man pass judgement on someones "gayness" if they have cryed in a movie?

And those two things are related...how?
You\'re gay if you want to touch Richard Simmons\' forbidden fruit. Or your name is Dan.
-
I cried when Spock died.
Ace
-
Where in the green mile did you cry? When he did what he did to the old lady? or when they did what they did to the black guy?
-
Would Richard Simmons be gay if he touched his own fru... well, that question is redundant really..

When they [sp]fried the black guy[/sp]. Probably more places too, but that was the worst.
-
I thought TGM was one of the most depressing movies ever. There were like 4 or 5 times that my eyes started to tear up.
But I didn\'t cry... because I\'m not gay
;) @ Bozco

I was trying not to use the new spoiler thing which will get OVER USED quickly, but me likey...
Hmm, I can\'t remember if I cried at that.
I remember when I first got out of college and I was living on my own in a studio apartment in Ft. Myers, FL. (Oh it sucked) I cried at Father of the Bride. I\'m such a puss.
I\'m not saying I cried, but I had a tear. I think that\'s what we all mean here by crying. If any of you actually cried at a movie then you are a big puss.
Hmmm, when else was I touched (No pun intended)...
Um, Steal Magnolias, Tommy Boy (Who wasn\'t? "Who\'s your favorite little rascal?), um, crap... I can\'t think of any more right now.
-
Tommy Boy! Lol, that movie is hillarious.
"Hey, there\'s a pretty girl out there, maybe she\'s dating one of the yankees..."
-
I actually did cry in Tommy Boy the first time I watched it. Seriously one of the funniest freaking movies I have ever seen.
Although if you don\'t like David Spade nor Chris Farley you\'ll hate the movie.
Back on topic. You are all a bunch of cry babies!!!
-
My Life
Micheal Keaton and Nicole Kidman.
Saddest movie EVAR!!!!
Cry cry cry:crying:
-
their r a few movies that have made my eyes water up an example is TGM, others were not movies but some of the locally broadcasted tv series.
:)
-
Yeah, those midnight \'series\' bring a tear to my eye too. ;)

I didn\'t.
I almost cried in Lilo and Stitch, and Black Hawk Down, mostly because it was based on a true event.
-
Well, I\'ll be damned. I haven\'t seen L&S, but Black Hawk Down didn\'t do anything for me. Just too loud and violent.
-
I need to buy me a new sub woofer and rent BHD. I miss the rumble. Could someone please loan me some money to pay for my new roof so I can buy a new sub woofer.....
-
Rudy... the ending when everyone\'s chanting his name and everything, I couldn\'t help it.
Also a little in Forest Gump and I think there was another one, can\'t remember now

tru dat i watched rudy when i was in my first year of high school football i watched with my cousin and neither of us said a word through the whole movie till it was over then all we said "man that was a great movie" as we tried to pretend that there were\'t tears streaming down our cheeks other movies that ive seen that made me cry were the green mile and i am sam which i just saw the other day that was such a good movie but at the same time it was a horrible movie cause i felt like i was watching a comercial half the time with all the starbucks, ihop, pizza hut and nike references
-
Has any film ever made me cry?
Yes, any of the lethal weapon flicks, they are God-awful films that should never have been made.
-

It was mostly because it was based off a real event. Films like SPR and such wouldn\'t make me cry.
-
I\'m a senseless bastard so I never cried during a movie. Not even close. Even during the Green Mile. It was a good movie but I didn\'t cry.
-
Pay it Forward - the ending , just touches me.
Natrual Born Killers - Don\'t ask.
The Green Mile - I admit it. I cried like a little girl.
-
Oh yeah, Pay it Forward. Count me in on that one.
-
I have never cried since Pay it Forward, until recently.. Everyone rent A Walk To Remember. That one made me cry one more than one occasion! :(
-
Braveheart...I read the book by Randall Wallace before I saw the movie. I cried in the same section of the story for both book and movie. So sad... :crying:
-
definatly....A Beatiful mind.
its just so sad they guy figures out the truth and the way it affects him.
-
Big Daddy made me cry.
-
*raises hand * green mile for me, but dont tell anyone
-
And reading back on old posts, your not a man until you can cry.

God yes, that was a great movie.
Then...hmm...let\'s see.
I loved Green Mile, but I\'m not sure if I cried during it or not. Oh well, I\'ll have to watch it again and see.
-
I cried during Show Girls, but that\'s because I have a habit of crying while I masterbate.
[serious mode] I\'ve never actually cried during a movie, but if I ever come close it\'ll be from a romantic scene more than likely, because i\'m so god damned lonely....
-
Actually, I did come close to crying during a movie. Now that I think about it, I have the feeling to cry but I never cried during a movie.
-
I don\'t think there\'s been a movie yet to make me cry. Well, maybe Titanic, but that\'s just cause I was frustraited by not being able to stand on the raft and place my boot firmly on Leo\'s forehead and push him to his death. Mission to Mars almost made me cry too.. but that\'s cause it was one of the FEW movies to ever make me desperately wish I hadn\'t wasted that hour and a half of my life.
How could anyone cry durring BlackHawk down? I had to leave the room halfway thru cause I felt embarassed. I thought it was going to be a story of triumph over adversity. It ended up being jus one long flick about a military f uck up that got a lot of good soldiers killed. At least Platoon had a moral.. Glory had a moral.. Blackhawk down was jus watching "elite" American soldiers getting slaughtered.
Oh.. and that "forbidden fruit" discussion got me wondering. Ok, if you touch another guy\'s package.. that means you\'re ghey. What about if you touch your own? I mean.. judging by the amount of feline serial killers here, you must all like stroking willys. Does it really make a difference if it\'s yours or someone else\'s? I mean you\'re still gripping a chub either way ya look at it.
On second thought.. don\'t answer. :crap:
-
thats gross dude
i dont even wanna think about touching another dudes hammer
uGh
-
I cried in Rudy

cuz it was based on the events of 1993 october 3rd.....and that is what happened
-
Maybe so, but they did fudge quite a few facts to make it more dramatic onscreen. All film makers do it, and that\'s the difference between a "based on true events film" and a "Documentary". My point is, that while they were fudging facts, they should have added something in to tell the importance of why they were there.. how they grew from the experience.. each man\'s persepective on what it meant to them. Give the viewers something more than jus buckets of spilled American blood. It was just a slasher flick based around a real conflict from where I see it.
And even ignoring that.. I still don\'t see how it could make someone cry.
EDIT: Speaking of documentaries, there is one film that made me get a bit teary eyed. It was the 9/11 film on ABC.. filmed live as the attacks happened by those two french filmmakers. That was truely disturbing.

A little off the subject, but did anybody else see the Black Hawk Down documentary on the history channel 2 nights ago?Powerful stuff.

doesn\'t matter for me though, I hate Tom Hanks and would never watch a movie with him in it.

Free Willy

Glitter
-
Ugh... what a fag. :p
Wait, unless you cried because the movie was that horrible....
I got some of the funniest critic reviews from that movie.
-
He even typed it in Pink. :facelick:
-
Rainman. "1 for bad, 2 for good, Ray."
Saving Private Ryan. "Ma-mama? I don\'t want to die, I don\'t want to die!"
*sigh* :crying:
-
i have cried in a few movies like tgm and some others
and damn it everyone cries in bambi the first few times so there
:p
-
Braveheart made me cry like a girl...:o i guess i got too attached to the characters...
-
Mac and Me - 1988. Saw it at the theater with my parents. I don\'t remember much about it, except there were funny looking aliens - and I cried. My father was sensitive enough to ask me later that day if he was correct in noticing that I had been crying. What a guy.
Dracula - Coppola version. This came out in 1992, so I\'m not gonna use any of the damn spoiler tags. I\'ve seen this movie at least a dozen times, and the end where Mina shoves the blade through her dying lover\'s heart still gets me.
Saving Private Ryan.
Green Mile didn\'t make me teary for some reason. I had read the books when they first came out, so I guess I was expecting a lot of tear-jerking. I\'m also one of those people who doesn\'t appreciate being manipulated into crying by the director (Steel Magnolia\'s, for one).
-
Braveheart is a damn fine movie... I love it.
-
The only movie that got me close to crying was ugh...HACKERS
When they were hacing the Gibson I actually felt pain ugh

-
i cant rember what film, but im sure ive had a tear in my eye, but not like full crying....just eyes a bit watery
-
Yeah, TGM got my eyes watery. That\'s probably the movie thats came closest to making me cry. Oh yeah, The Patriot kinda did. Same with Braveheart.
-
Yes, the movie was that bad.
And I also cried cause you couldn\'t see Mariah\'s bottie in the small sex scene...
-
Braindead. The bit where he\'s running through the pack of zombies with a lawn mower strapped to his chest. One of the the best gore bits in a movie I\'ve ever seen, nearly getting teary just thinking about it.
While watching this movie one of my friends vomited,it was in the custard scene.Geez he\'s a pussy.I think that\'s even worse than crying.
-
ahhh, a peter jackson film
also called "dead alive"
you think that scene was gross?
check out an earlier film he did called "bad taste"

one of the goriest non-cannible films ever made
if you want THE definitive film for gore
look for one called Cannibal Ferox (if u can get it, its banned in most of the free worldm, except for on ebay)
-
I was flipping through Showtime a few months ago and Dead Alive
was playing. I thought it was great. Had a real Evil Dead feel to it which I liked. I must rent Bad Taste this weekend.
By the way, Color Purple had me looking for tissues.
mm, why is the movie Cannibal Ferox banned?
Ace

Mini-Spoilers...
I don\'t know why but Mel Gibson always leaves me on the verge of crying. [sp]Particularly in the execution scene of Braveheart, but also at other odd moments like in \'Ransom\', where he starts talking tough to the kidnappers on the phone and they pretend to execute his son. Gibson\'s character just goes throws up and then crumbles on the floor, I could feel his pain somehow. More recently "Signs" made me feel like crying. The whole sequence at the dinning table, and the asthma attack... :crying:
The movie that actually did leave me crying is a Chinesse film called "To live" (Huo Zhe). It\'s so human that you can\'t help but emphazise with the protagonists tribulations. Everybody who can find it should absolutely see it with blind faith.[/sp]
I added the spoiler tag. Here it actually has a legitimate use. -Sammy

TGM, Rudy, and Old Yeller brought a tear to my eye. All were great movies. :crying:

Yeah I did see that one as well,I love the bit at the very start when that dudes head get sprayed and just his bloody neck runs down the shooters leg.
I haven\'t seen cannibal ferox though I\'ll be on the lookout for that though............ Hang on we can\'t even get GTA3 uncensored.

Bad Taste indeed does rule, I love the old splatter films.
