Hi, i\'m pretty sure my computer has a virus.
When i start it up at the screen where "Windows 95" (in my case
:() - the screen with the clouds and the bar at the bottom that moves. This bar feezes then the printer prints a page with a tiny
:) in the top left hand corner. Then the only way to start it up is to start it up in safe mode. I think it may have come from \'blubster\'
(an internet file sharing program like Napster) when i was downloding the new MIB song. I thought about looking in some printer log or printer history but i can\'t find one, and the virus may delete itself from this 2 i guess...
who are the sad people that make viruses anyway (its ok to do i among friends if its just a joke i suppose, but who actually unleases them onto the internet...)
-
you CANNOT get a virus from listening to a mp3 (although MIB II songs might help you catch "the gay")
install a antivirus protection program and see what happens
you\'de be suprised how many viri (plural term for virus) are actually created by companies alone to sell thier products

There are some sick mofo\'s out there!
-
Here\'s a better idea < Win2k is crap.
Burn your win95 cds and buy Win2k.
-
I think the freezing of the bottom bar in Windows startup doesn\'t mean the appearance of a virus... anyway install an antivirus :p
-
It could just be Win 95 showing it\'s age...
-
I think i found the problem, i disconnected the printer and the scanner and started it up then it worked fine :) , so i am gonna delete meaningless files the do a de-frag and put anti virus software on...=]
-
Haha. Thats great... A smiley face prints... awesome...
-
win95.. Damn dood, there\'s the problem right there.. Get a new OS.. Win2k or Xp.
-
Spooky. The smiley face thing is sort of funny though, What happens if you disconnect your printer?
-
I have Win98 and it doesn\'t suck. :(
-
Me too, I think Win98 is fine, it has to be at least 4 years old until it is bug free :D
-
as soon as I have the money.. I\'m getting it all... I swear to you all.
-
I\'ve got 95, 98Se, 2000 pro, Xp pro. Ahh good, but i only use 2000 or Xp. Mainly xp. Good little OS. :)
-
Well, it depends on what you are using your computer for. For my case, Win 98 is the best... because I use my comp mostly for gaming.

98 is still better then XP for gaming :)

i\'ve yet to have any huge problems with Xp in gaming. I\'ve had strange problems with Thps2 and WC3, but updates fixed them. Anyway, games are being made to support XP these days.. There\'s always compatibilty mode too. :) but 2000 on the otherhand.. That has problems with a lot of games, it wasn\'t built for gaming anywayz.

Well I got one for real. For the past few days I havn\'t been able to sign in to the forums,or even read the forums as a guest for that matter.I figured I had been banned, although I couldn\'t imagine why.A quick run of my weekly virus scan this morning revealed I\'m an idiot.
Here\'s what happened. While I was at a friends house watching monday nights game my g/f was at home on the pc and d/l something called desktop kitty or something like that,([her]alot of people at work had it on their desktop)and it was in fact a virus.I don\'t know how many times I\'ve told her not to d/l anything with an .EXE extension.Or not to download anything with out running a virus scan on it first.Oh well it\'s not like I didn\'t make the same mistake when I first started using pc\'s.Except mine was the Emanuel.EXE,that was a bad one.
I figured out it was a virus when I couldn\'t play Half Life,or CS,or evenSimcity3000.Well I\'m not that computer savvy, everything I\'ve learned about pc\'s I\'ve learned on my own over the last two years,so something like this is a big problem for me.So I did the only thing I know to do.Completely uninstall everything on my pc and start over from scratch.It\'s been an all day process.I just finished installing all the basics, including my zonealarm, popup stopper,d/l accelerator, aim, and all my games.Next up is file planet for all my patches and CS.
Just thought I would share this with you all so you can revel in my pain and frustration. And now it\'s off to file planet to stand in line for a couple hours.

Well I\'m done and everything runs fine for the most part, but I\'m still having a weird problem. When i click on threads(all forums not just this one)I enter the thread like normal, but now I have to click the back button in my browser window two and sometimes three times to get back to the threadlist.Anybody have any ideas what I need to do to fix this?
-
are u running any kind of ad-remover?

Its seems to load up fine and everything works ok i think this may have been the problem -
Something has been changed in the settings ethier bya virus or just me being stupid and when the OS checked to c that the scanner was working ok when it starts up it checked the printer instead and this printe put this happy face, the printer and the scanner come off the same lead kind of thing thats how i came to this conclusion and 1 time it wasn\'t a happy face it was "a" in amaze font i think...:) (im actually sick of happy faces)

Yeah I re-installed AdAware, but I was using it before to and never had this problem.It\'s just three clicks to get back but oh so agravating.
