Title: VisionTek folds
Post by: nO-One on August 19, 2002, 05:28:32 AM
Well it\'s on just about every tech news site now. The board maker VisionTek is going down.

It\'s a sad sad thing, I liked their boards, during the GF2 and GF3 days their boards had the best 2d quality of any nVidia based cards.

Well farewell VisionTek, we shall remember thee

That\'s a pretty big blow for nVidia... weren\'t they one of their bigger board manufactures?

With this and them not putting their nv30 out, giving ATI a pretty big lead, things smell bad on the nVidia side of the court.

I hope, for their sake, that tha nv30 has a noticable performance lead over the 9700... but from what I\'ve been reading the difference between the two will be negligible.

/me shrugs

Doesn\'t really matter to me... I\'m an ATI man now.  Couldn\'t be happier with my new 8500.

What\'s the deal with the NV30?  I saw an article on it over at Anandtech but I didn\'t get to read it?

Well since ATi released the R300 which is kicking just about every ass there is to kick in the vid card market nVidia needs something to keep the crowd from going to ATi, so they hype their upcoming chip the NV30...well duh.

But it is supposed to be based partly on 3dfx\'s Rampage technoligy and stuff. I have no doubt the card will kick ass but as of now, I couldn\'t care less about it.....GO ATI!!! (mm will just love that statement :p)
