All I want to know is if there is going to be a monthly fee after the first month. Proof please.
-
No there isn\'t. Proof? Well, I said so. That ought to do it. :)
-
I\'ve heard speculation on maybe charging and if that is so I might not buy the NA. Where have you heard otherwise?
-
Well, to be honest I haven\'t been following the news on the NA lately. But AFAIK there shouldn\'t be any fees except for games like FFXI = no fee from Sony\'s side. Sure you aren\'t thinking of Xbox Live? That will cost a monthly fee.
-
There could be a monthly fee in the distant future, but I really doubt it. First, Sony not charging for online play is a huge advantage over Xbox Live\'s plan. They will get more casual gamers if they keep it free. Second, if Sony did start charging, they would have to set up a big network like Xbox Live so they don\'t look inferior to it (and in turn, lose users). This would cost them more money than I think it\'s worth.
-
Sony\'s first and second party games are free. The rest can charge if they like, but at the moment, the only thrid party games that are online are FREE.
-
Japaneses have to pay to play online FFXI, or am I wrong?
-
People that are using the network adaptor as a modem (Dial up)withought a ISP will have to pay (So I heard at E3) But they also said that it would be a very low cost. But if you already have an ISP which is obviously everyone here, then you have nothing to worry about.

I was under the assumption that if you did not have an ISP you could not go online with the Ps2.
I think that you may have gotten confused with having an ISP and paying that ISP and not actually paying sony.
-
yes, but 99% of the people posting here already have an ISP anyways

Sony does not plan on charging for online service as of right now....3rd party games like FFXI will require a fee...but that is because Square is charging....same goes for Star Wars Galaxies that may be a charged game as well but that money goes to lucas arts as if he dind\'t have enough money already....wonder if sony will charge for EverQuest though....
