I opened up My Ps2 to clean it because the laser wasnt working(done it before no problem) I accidentally pulled the cover too hard and the silver wire connected from the power button (on the shell) to the main system (somewhere that I need to find) detatched from the system. so I have the shell and the wire is dangling from it. I just need to know where to attatch it to the system. Can anyone help me or maybe send me somewhere where i can get help. Thanks to those who answer.

Maybe I can help.
Call Sony: 1-800-345-SONY
-
Did you try reattaching it? SONY I bet won\'t help you.

Yeah, try finding the exact place you ripped the silver wire out of the system, that\'s the most obvious thing to do, right?
If you can\'t do that atleast try calling SONY, they should help somehow
BTW welcome to the forums Quailedawg007

It voids the warranty opening the system. They won\'t help in the least.
Sorry.

Best bet is to find a local shop that repairs playstations and ask them for advice.

I don\'t see why people have to clean the inside of the PS2. I don\'t ever do that and my PS2 works fine. I just clean the outer shell, I don\'t want to lose my warranty.

Sometimes, like in my case, the lense gets so dirty that you need to open it up and clean out all the dust with compressed air and alcohol. It gets to the point where hardly anything will play. Anyway, it worked for me so I\'m happy

Damn, how many times do you have to clean it in a month?

Ok, depending on wich system you have.. on some, you\'l find that it conects somewhere on the mainboard or near the
underneath of the PS2 drive.. look for circuit board.. the connection slot should be brown. you need to flick
it up to push the wad (lead from button) back into position and then re-clip the brown flip back down.
basically, look for a brown slip connector.. you\'ll have to disasemble the PS2 further.
if you have use of a digital camera take photos of the dissasembly as your going along.
then you can refer back to the photo\'s if you get lost putting it back together.
it\'s quite an easy task. dont sweat it. it will not be on the back of the mainboard (you\'l see it when you take off the bottom)
but it\'ll be further inside the machine.. look at how the ribbon was bent then follow the path. it will lead you to the connector

Alright, let\'s go through this one sentence.
"Damn, how many times do you have to clean it in a month?"
In other words...
How frequently do you clean your PS2 using that kind of method? (Opening the PS2)
:)

I knew what you were saying. It just didn\'t make sense why you were asking me. It didn\'t really fit. Anyway, over time, dust builds up and currupts the lense. Just clean it off with a bit of alcohol and voila.

I think theyd help you because my ps2 wasnt playing any old games or dvd\'s(at the time it was only playing grand theft auto and triple play2002) and they said i had an old version. Then they told me to send it in and 2 weeks later i got a brand new one. Only thing that sucked was it took 2 weeks.
