If you know any of them, post them here. Did you know that...
- that if your parents surprise you looking at dirty-webs you can restore quickly your explorer windows pressing Windows-Key + M?
- that you can write an e-mail quickly from your desktop without opening yer Outlook? Make a new shotcut with this line: C:/Program Files/Outlook Express/MSIMN.EXE/mailurl:%1
Share them!
-
If you stare at the screen long enough without blinking, you see a green dot.
-
lol. have to rember the windows keys + m one......
-
To type in a website in the address bar you don\'t have to type www or .com.. You can just type the middle and hit Cntrl-Enter.
If you want to print a small portion of a website you can just higlight what you want printed, go to print and there is an option to print selection.
Those are two I use all the time
-
Windows-Key + M..... I\'ve always used this. :p
-
If you have Win ME pressing Crtl+Alt+Del at the same time twice gives you temporary relief.
-
type "deltree c:" in dos, and it will give you porn.
-
Seriously?
Erm... Tools>Clear history is one i use alot
and all my other ones are covered. :D
I will have to remember that restore one... :P
-
If you delete your windows registry, you\'ll stop pop-ups and spyware permenantly.
-
if you hit F11 in internet explorer you can get rid of everything but the toolbar....
-
^^^
lmao. DUH.
-
Shift + click to open links in a new window (everyone probably already knows that one.)
-
Good one Video :)
-
This thread could have been interesting, but like many others it gets screwed up by doofuses...
I can\'t keep deleting posts. My computer isn\'t fast enough with how many crappy posts keep pooping up.
-
ALT-F4 makes the pr0n go away, if the boss enters.
-
make a short cut on you desktop call it rundll32.exe open the properties of the icon and in the target line type
%windir%\\System32\\Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
youll have an icon that will shut idle tasks you have running so you can free up some ram just before you run a big program may only work in winxp though
-
Yeah I think that one does. Also you can just CTRL+ALT+DLT and end some of the tasks your not using. I have a bunch of crap that I dont even know what it is.
One I just found out;
In your address bar, if you type find, go, or ? followed by a space and a phrase or word, it will search the internet for that Sometimes it could save you time. :P
I\'ll looks for some more...
Another one**edit If you press ALT+Left arrow you will go back, backspace also works, if you press ALT+Right arrow you will go forward.
If you press ALT+D it will take you to the address bar, in case your too lazy to click it.
CTRL+F is a word search for the site you are on.
F5 = Refresh
You can type a word in the Address bar and press CTRL+ENTER to automatically add http://www. and .com on either side of the word.
I found most of these in HELP>Tip of the day. :D
-
Jar O Pickles really good one, and it works! It\'s useful also for starting a desfragment of HDD.
-
u guys have put up some pretty neat tips, gonna have to remember them ;).
-
Yeah i got it all right, how do you know it worked?
-
CTRL + up or down arrow changes the text size. Ctrl + the mouse wheel button up or down does the same.
-
Spudz you may have a window with your applications that are running at the moment. BTW, Ironfist, your tip works great.
-

It doesn\'t work with netscape.
Alt + Mouse wheel down makes you go back, up makes you go forward.
-
It worked fine to me. I don\'t use Netscape, but feel free to post hints of it, many people use this program.
-
Also if you click on your mouse scroll (It works for me) It will pop up a little circle with a triangle on it, scroll with that thing. I use it alot, since it just looks cooler.
Thanks guys, some good stuff.
-
Spudz, scroll buttons of mice are programmable so each member will have a program or an action associate with it. Me, for example, have the Explorer.
-
Ctrl+Esc opens the start menu. Then you can navigate it with the arrow keys.
For those times when you\'re just to lazy to move the mouse over to click Shut Down.

oh, i thought they all had it the same, How do you "program" it.
God, I\'m lame at computer stuff.
-
Pressing CTRL and Q closes whatever you are curently looking at.

Nice one Soul.

Go to Control Panel and click on your mouse icon. There you can program the buttons, and other skills.

\'windowskey\' + M does not restore every window, it minimizes them all.
\'windowskey\' + E opens Windows Explorer.
Alt+F4 will close any open window (unless the developer has disabled this feature such as in games).
Hitting spacebar in IE/Mozilla scrolls the browser one page equivalent to hitting PageDown. Home will take you to the top. End will take you to the bottom.
Ctrl+F in most Windows text apps is a shortcut for "Find Text"
If you don\'t have a \'windowskey\' on your keyboard you can simulate it by pressing \'Ctrl+Esc\'
Inside IE, pressing tab changes the focus of your cursor. Shift+Tab will reverse the focus order.
BEOTCH!
-
Windows-shift-M restores them all
Cntrl + arrow doesn\'t do jack for me.
-
It looks like CTRL + arrows font size change is a Netcaptor exclusive. I should have tested it in regular IE before posting it. Sorry.
Press Alt, space, then "n" to minimize your currect window.
In IE, Alt+left or right arrow takes you back or forward.

as mm would say;
i swear noone reads my posts!
-
Ctrl+F5 does a \'hard\' refresh. Useful when you have cached an image and then changed it, but it won\'t refresh properly.
-
ooooo, I likey the ctrl up/down mouse button thing. I just used it. :D
-
An oldie but a goodie!
Hitting backspace when using IE will do the same as clicking the back button!
-
Samwise I didn\'t get it very well, can you explain it again? I\'m very interested in all these cheats.

It\'s not a \'cheat\' per say, it\'s just a shortcut. I can\'t really explain it well - but it empties the IE cache and refreshes the page.
-
Yes, but what\'s the main difference between refresh the page with only F5 and refresh it with Ctrl+F5?
-
I don\'t know the details; it\'s just better. I guess it\'s because a normal refresh doesn\'t reload the cached pictures, whereas CTRL+F5 does.
-
ah! I understand... something similar to load a webpage without using temporary inet files... cool.
Thanx Samwise ;)

a little thing for the n00bs
if your trying to copy a shortcut from a picture, but when you right click on it, you get a message about concerving bandwidth. Just click show source in your browser, and find the link. Everyone probably knows this, but oh well.
-
Hardly any of this stuff works with an AOL browser :(=]
-
PS2, anybody will post some of them, don\'t worry :p
And some hints for those who use Netscape:
Type the following in the address (Location) field for special information: (Do not type the quotes)
"about:cache" gives a list of all files in the disk cache.
"about:global" lists all the places you\'ve visited and when.
"about:image-cache" lists all image files in the cache.
"about:memory-cache" lists all files in the memory cache.
-
PS2_-\'_\'-_PS2 here you are some of them:
CONTROL +
A Select All
C Copy
F Find

I have never been told to conserve bandwidth. Where are you in what country and what ISP do you use?

I think he is referring to how people prevent you from right clicking on their pictures to 1, make sure you don\'t steal their pics, and 2, make sure you don\'t post their pics on a forum (which takes up their bandwidth whenever someone views the thread with the pic in it). It isn\'t very common for people to do this anymore, but there are times when you will encounter it.
-
One thing I\'ve found is that the java/javascript ways of blocking a right-click in IE do not work in Mozilla.
-
Thanks Adan, a few i didnt know there=]
-
Apple key + Control + ESC.
The greatest tool of all.
