Post by: Black Samurai on August 27, 2002, 06:05:59 PM: VHS won because Sony tried to implement to many standards and rules when using the Betamax format. Its kind of like how Nintendo had so much BS involving cartridges so most developers moved to Sony and their CDs.

Post by: Majin Prince on August 28, 2002, 11:21:35 AM: DVD has so much features that makes it so much better than VHS. True the VHS has sh!tload more movies than DVD. But the advantages the DVD has is:

better sound quality
better picture quality
no rewinding (i love this one.:D )
Extra features (music videos, documentaries,photo galleries, etc.,)
Easier to carry around
Extended scenes
Deleted scenes
DVD-ROM games
More space on DVD for movie (no double or more tapes)

The only thing the DVD doesnt do better than VHS is the ability to record.

there is prolly more but as you can see the DVD is just a lot more technologically (sp?) advanced than the outdated VHS. ;)

What are you smoking? Tapes could be erased if you put them next to the tv, they can get eaten, if not properly stored, could get dust collected, damaged tape, ect. DVD\'s when they get scratched could be repaired with a scratch remover kit. Voila. Good as new.

Only for now..DVD is continually growing and will be the VHS of today and yesteryear soon.
