Title: My latest 3D backgrounds *UPDATED WITH 2 NEW PICS*
Post by: Seed_Of_Evil on August 30, 2002, 09:35:18 AM
This is more a test-thread than a 3D environment thread. All you know the problems of hosting files nowadays. I found a new one through FTP, so this is a try to link files (mainly pics) from this new site. I hope it works... and I also hope you like de models :p

Very cool pics Adan, I can\'t see the 3rd pic either i\'m afraid, just a white box with the dreaded red x in the top left corner.

anybody else wish that the PS2 could pump out real time graphix like those pix?  If it did, I would never leave my tv.

those look cool. Terragen?

I need a free host. I have been slaving away on max 4 since a certain unnamed individual tossedf me a copy. My skills have vastly improved in character development and such...

?Que?!

what do you use to generate the terrain? Displacement maps? or do you model at a sub-patch level and use bump mapping?

and how about the water material... if you don\'t mind long render times, turn up the sampling on the raytraced reflections. you also could use some anti-aliasing on those renders. look at the top of those mountains... JAGGIES?!?!?!

:D

Yes CHIZZY, I use an old version of 3DMax because my PC is so old and newest versions don\'t work in my system (:(). I use displacement maps (I think it\'s even i\'m not sure due to i\'m currently using a spanish version). I got water material as a plugin in internet, don\'t remember where.

And relating the anti-alising, the program has the feature but the loads are infinite (notice that every pic took about 2,5 hours in rendering). I need a new PC!!!

2-5hr of rendering man that would suck.  Are you able to multitask during that or would mess up.  If my pc was like that I\'d just let it render while I\'m sleeping.

Good work on the 3rd pic looks very lifelike

Well, I wouldn\'t recommend you to do another task meanwhile the program is rendering. You can do easily in a modern PC, but with a PII 350, the task of rendering is enough to mess up the computer.

Here you have two new renderings. I\'ve been practicing a little with fog and made these two backgrounds. I hope you like both them and tell me your critics :p

They are on my website. Just go to http://dajosite.tripod.com

Click on IMAGES in the menu on the left and you\'ll see some that I have posted there. They are all old I have a few new ones but I haven\'t really messed with that site in awhile. Still, some of them I think are really good, some of them I think really suck. :)

Very cool Dajo, your water effect is really well done but you need better textures: look for them in inet (there are lots). Good job mate :)
