And did anyone notice the developer talking about the physics?..
"Unbeknownst to the public, we\'d already been developing real physics systems with Prodrive (famed developers of technology-based solutions for the motorsport industry) that they were using to test real rally cars. It was so advanced and realistic, however, that it was too hard to use, so there was the irony; we had a physics system that the World Rally teams used that we couldn\'t use because it didn\'t feel like a game.
"So there\'s a funny little twist there in that we\'ve now gone back to that to create new, advanced Professional and Expert modes which encompass all the things we worked closely with Prodrive on at the time. Now we can do a lot of things that we hinted at with the first WRC, like flicks, powerslides and handbrake moves."
I was aware of their involvement Prodrive and i knew all about the physics engine they had to drop
because it was just too real.. by the sounds of it, they could possibly be adding 2 different handling types..
Interesting.. i\'m definatly hoping for the Prodrive physics engine to be included.
Oh, just grabbed this little bit of info aswell..
"When driving in the single-player championships, the game mimics the four-day structure of an FIA rally with a shakedown day and three days of racing. Time must be budgeted through each rally for repairs and service, so it behooves the player not to smash up his car too badly. More realistic rules have been implemented through each stage, so players must conform to starting regulations, service time windows, and other restrictions or face incurring time penalties"
Might turn out to be \'the\' Rally game of 2002 esp after the release of Toca
what are people thinking of Codemasters now?
-
the backgrounds are amazing, and that pic in the snow was one of the most realistic pix I\'ve EVER seen. It reminds me of camping in the snow
-
 I am lost for words...
Codemasters doesn\'t interest me in the slightest anymore. After TOCA, I\'m not even thinking of giving CMR a try. :(
-
The game looks good. CM3 still looks better, though, because its Codemasters, I highly doubt thats how its gonna look when its released.
Whens WRC 2002 out?

It\'s due out in about 2-3 months i believe. but i have seen the CMR3 videos on DVD and they look
exactly like CMR2 on the PC. the car models are slightly better but the steering in CMR3 is still very pointy.
Also as usual it looks like CMR3\'s handling is still way off. you steer from the centre axis of the car
making it feel like your turning it on a shopping wheel welded to the centre of the car.
when you turn say left. the front wheels go left. (yeah no shit sherlock :D) but even at slow speeds
the rear wheels will step out towards the right. now really, the rear wheels should follow the front but they dont.
Check out CMR2 or even CMR1 and drive in a circle slowly.. you\'ll see what i mean.
The Physics are as real as a £4 note.. i dont understand why it got all the raving. CMR1 was ok for the time
but CMR3 should address these issues. surely it was due to low hardware resources on the PSX that held
back the Physics modeling?....
-
damn, why dont they show in game shots :(.
-
God almighty people bitching about Codemasters..
-
The graphics are OK, but if gameplay is the same as first one, it will rock.
-
i still can\'t get over the reflection in the snow, comming off of the headlights. one word, AMAZING!
-
Nice screens! This looks like the best Rally yet.
-
there is a video on the psw dvd looks very good this will be the best rally game ever
-
looking sweet!!!
-
Very nice textures, lets see how the finished version looks though!
-
It had better run at 60fps. How many tracks? I wanna see some USA tracks in a rally game.

US tracks? Do they even have a driver?
-
I just hope they\'re gonna put some closed in scenery to it, like woods \'n\' stuff, cause wrc1 had open fields only. And although hey looked really nice, it\'s not the right way to go!
-
Likes great, textures look sweet but the backrounds are a little on the blurry side.
-
well i think it looks good, but i hope they improve the handling.. i read good thing about the ntsc version, especially from you guys here, but the pal version ( released here 1st) i didnt like it, cars were very floaty.... hope its more realistic...
well i hope cmr3 is excellent, what ive seen of it, it looks good....
so what was up with toca?? sorry ai aint read many reviews. and from what i read it was good, whats the prob with it??

Well, iv\'e seen it running and i can guarantee the 60FPS part.. as far as tracks are concerned i havn\'t yet checked..
The handling in the video clip i saw from the PSW DVD was rather good.. the handling seems improved but i cant really
tell to what extent due to all the rapid camera angle changes.
More info as soon as i get hold of it...
