It\'s happened to me again, I bought Sony equipment and got a great package, apart from the bloody lasers, what\'s wrong with those people?
Does anyone else have near constant disc read errors only a year after purchase with not a high amount of gaming hours on it?
-
Well I do! :D And the PS2 I have now is my second machine. The first one I took back cause I had a warranty. So they gave me the one I have now, and 6 months after I got it it started with disc read errors.
I just go to the browser and keep ejecting and reinserting the disk. Sometimes it works on the first try, other times it take 2-3 tries. I\'m just too lazy to adjust the voltage of the lens. That is the problem. If it ever really craps out I\'ll adjust the voltage of the lens, but till that happens. I just sweet talk mine and rub it.
Mine seems to have an attitude problem :)

Mine seems to click inside the tray whilst it\'s trying to read, proably ps2 speak for "get a life" but I never listen!
There must be some form of comeback on Sony for placing such a crappy laser in a top end console.
I had Matsui (Cheap!) CD player spin and spin for 6 years without hassle, It\'s now been sold and is working elsewhere perfectly too, what\'s wrong with Sony? My DVD player went screwed after just a year with laser errors too, do they just use cheap components?

I don\'t know, I really don\'t blame SONY. I blame all the dust in my house. And not everyone has these problems, so it\'s hard to blame SONY for a very small percentage. When there are many machines that work perfectly fine.
-
I completely blame Sony when every PS2 that I\'ve ever seen has these disk read error problems.
-
I don\'t know about that, I only know three other peple with a PS2 and we\'ve all been struck by the mystery illness known only as................
"Clean disc, knackered console!"
Not good as when I shelled out it was over £300. Also, I\'ve seen an original Playstation lobbed across a room still connected to it\'s wires and keep running!!
-
Bozco, I agree completely.
-
Well maybe you can blame SONY. I was pissed at first, but it\'s a minor problem to me. Like a said, if it totally craps out I\'ll try and fix it. Till then a disc read error every now and then doesn\'t bother me.
-
You mentioned something about voltage, could you expand by any chance?
-
mine works fine

I see what your saying but sometimes its not every now and then. A cousin of mine who kept his PS2 in perfect condition started getting disk read errors until it completely stopped reading any disk ever. And his warranty had expired.

Here check this out it has tons of info. I\'m suprised no Xbox z\'s have plastered this link everywhere.

I\'m glad mine has never had a problem reading any discs i\'ve put in it. But I feel for all you guys who have had problems, reminds me of my problems with my first 2 playstations
